Title: Avitar standards
Post by: normal_impaired on May 03, 2010, 03:13:13 PM
I checked in on AFF today to see what pathetic thing they're bitching about now, and noticed that apparently they don't seem to have any restrictions on the size of one's avitar, and that they're apparently oblivious to the issues caused by having them too big:

http://www.aspiesforfreedom.com/showthread.php?tid=19122 (http://www.aspiesforfreedom.com/showthread.php?tid=19122)

I do enjoy going to that site and seeing how the less intelligent side of the high-functioning spectrum tries to operate.

They should be smaller here too.

Too small avatars are ugly.

Just a wee bit smaller. The list to the left could also use some condensing or something, so the text frame isn't always so big. Even with the avatar's blocked it's big.

So is "important", along with most everything else, but subjectivity rates importance.

I was referencing how someone who claimed to be a part of it posted an animated GIF onto an epilepsy forum.  Everyone was calling him a hacker and saying that he hacked their forum.  Signing up for an account and posting an image is not hacking regardless of the content of the image.

But no that guy was a dangerous hacker on steriods, I agree.

Please tell me how to join anonymous.   O0

Anonymous is the result of overreacting officials.  When someone goes to say something that they don't want traced back to them, they post as "anonymous" in the sense of the true meaning of the word.  The problem is that when lots of defamation posts were being made anonymously on various sites, some officials decided that it was a group, not just a bunch of random people posting as anonymous internet users.  Rather than understanding that many forums that allow guests (non-members) to post will show their name as being "Anonymous", they figured that this was an actual name that was being used by a group.

Eventually, once it started hitting the media that there was apparently this cyber-hate-group known as Anonymous, the members of the 4chan forum started taking advantage of that by publishing promotional material, like the headless guy in a business suit.  People also started attending protests wearing the "V for Vendetta" mask.

Why hello my kind sirs, I happen to stumble across this mighty fine conversation of the organisation called anonymous from a private posting system called a private message. My sirs, thou havt forgetting the rules of the TCP/IP protocol system otherwise known as the internet, those being one and two? Although it is not like I have too much of a thought in caring about your violation of the rules, I just want to express a form of satire also known as a meme to this fine thread.

If you're one of these gentlemen from this popular and disturbing chamber of the internet world, you'll understand why I wrote this post this way.

I know, it was Alex Wuori's fault. But still, there's a little something in journalism that very important, it's called, what is it... Oh yeah, research. Also it clear they spun the story to what was aired. ;)

So true. No wait whart am I saying? You don't need to do research. You just make stuff up while eating a turkey sandwich and jacking off, and make sure you write the article in jizz instead of ink. Thats why Foxnews is so successful.

Try it, see how long it takes for me to remove your ability to have an avatar at all.

MissNewZealand has been asked to halve the size of her avatar, and I'm going to be implementing size restrictions right now.

What would you consider to be a reasonable size?

Oh, and you misspelt Avatar, numbnuts.

*Edit*

There, a temporary limit of 200x150px until I can get a polling off the membership there.

Just find the HTML template for a forum post, and add "width=200 height=150" to the IMG tag, then no matter what size people make their avitars, it will always show the same size.  As long as you tell people to make their avitars that size, anyone who violates that rule will be punished by having a severely distorted avitar.

Not fiddling with the backend to that degree - it'll just reject any avatar above 200x150 now, but anyone who already has an avatar above that will not automatically have it removed. If I see it, I'll nuke it.

I'm trying not to get sued by 20th Century FOX studios for copyright infringement over their recent movie title.

Yeah, that's why I never say "that's hot". I'm afraid of getting sued by Paris Hilton.  ::)

Avatar: The Last Airbender series was excellent. Now watching the one after: Legend of Korra.

Have not seen anything of "Legend of Korra" yet. But I loved "The Last Airbender" series.

Both of my girls are on an avatar watching spree at the moment.

I've seen the last Airbender a few times. One of the best animated things around when it comes to stuff aimed at kids.

I think my son bought a complete collection with the whole thing at Amazon. Can't say I'm interested in watching it.

The movie never happened. The TV shows are awesome. I'm fucked off at the first episode of kora season 4 though.

They are the only children's shows I like watching. Humorous in a silly way and yet still entertaining I'm not going to watch them more then once but I quite like watching then when I don't know wtf will happen.

Boyfriend introduced me to them.
