"Many contemporary European States are like pyramids standing on their apexes. The European territory which these States possess is ridiculously small when compared with the enormous overhead weight of their colonies, foreign trade, etc. It may be said that they have the apex in Europe and the base of the pyramid all over the world; quite different from the United States of America, which has its base on the American Continent and is in contact with the rest of the world only through its apex. Out of that situation arises the incomparable inner strength of the U.S.A. and the contrary situation is responsible for the weakness of most of the colonial European Powers."

You could turn that around if you had a real EU and not the bickering one you have now but that would mean a real loss of national sovereignty. Were as you say your united you are many way still many nations
-
That was written a looong time ago. :P
-
Even though you have the EU look at the problems and difficulties you have Greece and the growing resentment of Germany

But could you guess who wrote that text? ;)

It was an orly smiley.
Yes, it's from Mein Kampf. Interesting thing is that, the talk about the colonies aside, it's still true.

We must smash our genocidal governments.
-
Since we don't have any genocidal governments around here, we don't need to smash any. Problem solved.
-
You're lucky in that respect. Our leaders think we're guinea pigs, and at least 51% of us keep proving them right.
