Seriously. Deal with it there.

:plus:
I so agree with you.

Yes get them to come here then we can watch you argue instead of just bitch

That's what I've been wanting. :toporly:
-
Seriously. Deal with it there.
But what if that person posts on WankPlanet and you're baned from there??
-
Then they are just chicken shit if they don't come here
-
Seriously. Deal with it there.
Really? I'm devastated. :'(
-
Seriously. Deal with it there.
Mixed feelings. I come here because I feel able to discuss whatever I find interesting. I don't anticipate that my enthusiasms will be shared by all at Intensity. It'd be awful goddamn boring if there were total unanimity on every single topic. We all of us ought to feel able to talk about whatever we find interesting, so long as it doesn't chip anybody's nail polish over at Hostgator. Including, if it comes to that, events taking place in other fora on the Net.
I'll probably remain interested in WP as long as I'm still a member there. I reserve the right, however, to be bored as batshit when dual AFF/Intensity citizens bring over their dramas, power struggles and arguments about people I wouldn't know from a bar of soap. I certainly won't be forming any opinions, or taking any sides, and I'm damned if I'll join up there just so I can know who is zoomin' who. Bitch all you want, but at least try to make it halfway entertaining, that's all I ask.
I wouldn't presume to dictate what's okay for anyone else to talk about, and I'd rather not be told what's appropriate subject matter for me.
-
I assume this is directed at Dr. Robotnik and I. We should just invite over the bitch but she got banned for three days. He can send the invite when she comes back.
-
You better. This drama is pointless without a full blown brawl. >:( :zoinks:
-
No one gives a fuck if you don't like someone on another forum.
Seriously. Deal with it there.
Someone on another forum said you're gay, are you gonna stand for that?
-
Don't care.
-
Ebm I agree a hundred percent. I'm so fucking tired of all the bitching.
-
everyone already knows. the internet has been around since the late 1990's
-
It's been around a lot longer than that. ARPANET (the model from which the modern internet grew) was established in 1966. The World Wide Web came about in 1990.
-
Al Gore told me he created the internetz
-
He was instrumental in creating government support and funding for the development of the modern day internet.

That was so geeky. I am so proud of you :P. Good to see you back Flander-eeno.
As to the original post. Yes.
I have no issue with things being introduced here for a quick laugh or a vent. But when they become infused into the general interaction to a greater way then there is a real who gives a shit about it.
Example:
If I was on another forum and I did or said something I thought was funny and wanted to share here because I thought that was funny, I may do it as a throwaway post without the want to harp on about it.
If I thought something someone had done was really fucking un believable in "WTF?" I might post it so we all can shake our heads.
Compare that to Starting a thread and posting post after post about this individual, then relating this person in "That reminds me of so-and so" or "the situation reminds me of what so" and so does or so on. Then on top of that if someone posts in a style you consider similar to so and so you reinforce it for good measure by saying "You gave me a scare, I thought you so and so". (Oh and let's not forget calling any newbie that posts that person and treating them with unfounded suspicion.
Most people won't care about this person and even the short rant or laugh as I posted above (what I would do) , for most is going to be more than what they want to hear about. Less is best for sure

Actually it wasn't until 1969 that the first message was transmitted over the Arpanet, even though the first work can be dated as far back as 1963. The *public* WWW happened in 1991 or 1992, depending on who you ask (the W3C, for example, will usually say 1992), but Tim Berners-Lee's paper came about in the late 80's. OTOH, he based it on both his own early work (uni, if I remember it correctly), the SGML ISO standard (the predecessor to XML), and the HyTime extension to SGML. SGML dates from the late 60's and HyTime from the late 80's.
In other words, lots of dates of which many or even most can be debated endlessly.

Damn Odeon. You are a bigger geek than Flanders. I am in awe or maybe very scared.

I like drama, but not from other places than where I see it. I also see no point in rivalry. Of course, I do impose upon myself a rule that WP should be referred to as 'that site that shall remain nameless' and things like that, but in all honesty I don't mind if people prefer that place. It's all down on preference. I like this place, they like that place. No amount of bitching about them is going to change it.
All said, though, I do enjoy laughing at the Plankster. I've had first hand experience of how much of a lolcow he is, and I'm willing to share an almost full day's chat log featuring his remarkable displays of 'leadership'.
Other than just him, I've nothing against other sites or the people on them, and prefer not to participate in the dramas involved, save for maybe throwing in a comment or 2 for lulz factor alone.

It just so happens that I've worked with SGML and XML for the past 15 years. HyTime was always my favourite SGML-related spec.
I know, that makes me an even bigger geek but still...

Just starting to dig into XML, I like it.

XML is fun. ;D

Seriously. Deal with it there.
Nah I think people should bitch and rant if they want. You're all so anal about the fact people rant about WP members here.. you're forgetting what it's not: Moderated.
Don't like it? BAW BAW BAW I don't like half the garbage people post here, but I do something about it: ignore serial offenders or just don't read threads which look rubbish to me.
-
That is the beauty of this place, I can be a total asshole without censure if I feel like it. ;D
So... How did your threesome with Tim_Tex and KenM go by the way? Did you take pix? :zoinks:

Don't like it BAW BAW BAW...well the same could be said for your whingeing about members from other sites.
If you can't debate or dispute a point on a particular site you are on, why come here and complain. It's getting tedious. It's basically all you contribute. And sure, that's your choice, but it's getting a bit old Fiona. Seriously.
You ignore threads that look like rubbish to you? For the most part, you don't give a fuck about here, you just come here to mouth off about other sites.
Haven't you got something better to do than bitch about online people? Albeit, mostly behind their backs, which is worse. And weak.
-
gtf over it.
I just think the thread is hypocritical. Yeah, I bitch. Yeah, it annoys people. At least I can admit it, unlike all the bitchers about people bitching about threads on other forums, which is just as annoying. But free for all forums is free for all, like it or lump it. Don't try and change what people post.
If you have a problem with it, go somewhere where bitching about people on other forums is not allowed.
Or you can make or contribute to a million threads about it on here, like this one... but guess what.. that makes you just as bad as me.
-
Only really one way to settle this.

No, because I call people out in real time. You run around from forum to forum bitching and whining like a primary school child about who you think is a loser. Pretty lame since the person can't defend themselves.
I call it how I see it Fiona. Or are you going to put ME on ignore again because you can't face a confrontation, you just go behind people's backs? Well?
At least Kit, for all her bitching wants to confront people here in an open forum. She also actually knows whats going on here.
You, come here, ask for our photos for your youtube bullshit, bitch about other forums and basically, as always, just don't give a fuck. Situation normal. As I said, it's getting old Fiona, really old.

Dunno about the forum. i don't go there, except maybe once in a blue moon, but January sure was fun on IRC when he reappeared. He kickbanned a couple of his own ops, and then the rest went on strike. The result was about 40 of us (his adoring users) trolling the crap out of him. His addition to the op team decided to op everyone, and it turned into a free-for-all, with people clearing the ban list, kickbanning Alex 3 times in one day, and generally having a great time. Then when someone called time and brought us to order, he took the credit for himself, stating that it all settled down when he came back from afk.
Fond memories.

Holy cow, I'm glad I never went over there! It sounds like Jurassic Park, after the electronic fences failed! How many members over there now, about 600,000? :zoinks:

100 chatters, still way too many for me to cope with! How does anyone get heard? Is everyone even voiced? ???

The majority just sit idle, so it's normally remarkably easy to keep up. The busier times tend to be a struggle, but it's rarely far too busy.

Yep. I hate when there's nothing happening. It's boring. Luckily i have my own channel I can run off to, and it rarely has more than 20 people in it. Usually there's only like 5 or so people talking, but the atmosphere is so much more relaxing.

The majority just sit idle, so it's normally remarkably easy to keep up. The busier times tend to be a struggle, but it's rarely far too busy.
I suppose the idle times might be just as frustrating as the hectic ones. :-\
Yep. I hate when there's nothing happening. It's boring. Luckily i have my own channel I can run off to, and it rarely has more than 20 people in it. Usually there's only like 5 or so people talking, but the atmosphere is so much more relaxing.
Yes, that does sound better.
What is the name of your channel btw?
It's ##unravel
Unraveling can be fun, sometimes! ;D
Lmao yes it is. I actually made it with unraveling in mind. Unwinding the coils of one's mind, and there's no PG-13 'laws'. If it's legal, and doesn't start a fight in the channel, it's fair game. All in all, it's turned into something like a family, because everyone knows each other. lol.

All said, though, I do enjoy laughing at the Plankster. I've had first hand experience of how much of a lolcow he is, and I'm willing to share an almost full day's chat log featuring his remarkable displays of 'leadership'.
What has that assclown been up to recently?? I don't pay too much attention to that place anymore. Has he gone on a jihad banning anyone who is smarter than him??
:zoinks:

Almost all :grouphug:, with a little of these :dancers: :hitler: :dom: :spank:, but very rarely any :boxers:
It's quite rare in that people tend to arrive single, but then couples happen somehow. Since I opened it in September, the place has seen 3 couples form, and there's one currently in the very early stages. Only one pair has split. It's like one big love-in/soapbox.

Your chatroom sounds positively :pinkbeat: magical! :pinkbeat: ! What's the secret?

I wish I knew. I really do. Maybe I just invited the right people, though nearly everyone just responded to random, untargeted invites.

Finally, could this be an opportunity for another callout drama?
Eclair v.s Fiona
I'll get the popcorn.
I don't think this one will last too long. It's kind of like Bambi vs Godzilla.
Dare I ask who is whom?
I think you're smart enough to figure that one out for yourself. ;)

No, just the ones she can score points with.

No, just the ones she can score points with.
I wouldn't have thought that people would have to use false innocence to score point here. This place doesn't have those kinds of rules to get around.

Odeon makes a throwaway comment with no backup. Happy to understand exactly 'how' he thinks I want to 'score points'....I doubt I have any alliance or favouritism here for a particular member or members. Hence why I don't get into 'behind the back' PM's about topics, or karma points, without discussing a heated issue in a thread.
As for 'false innocence', I don't think that's the correct term, nor understanding. I will often read threads and think 'WTF'...approach the topic aggressively...to gain answers and an understanding....and my initial opinion or thoughts may be wrong.
Unlike most here, I can say when I was off base. There aren't many other members who admit that. Ever.

Unlike "most" here? How do you know what "most" people here think or are motivated by or what their intentions are?
I never had much theory of mind and would not presume to know what most people think or whatever. I will ramble about such things inanely for post after post but their is that understanding that I MAY be off base completely. Doesn't make my believe or understanding inherently bad or wrong but I am open to be convinced by something that makes sense to me.
Glad to have someone like you here to learn from. You can help with your understanding of what others think and are motivated by.
(Or maybe your understanding of others included in your "most" may not be quite as adept as you believe it to be. Don't worry we are all spazzes here ;) )

If you read what I wrote, I never presumed to know what people here think. In fact, you further prove why I do ask questions, is to understand better when I way be way off mark.
If you look at the sentence I bolded, I clearly state that I can admit when I am off base, others tend not to, from what I can see. That in it's simplest form, was my statement.
Hardly a reasoning for your comments about me presuming I know what people think. I may ask for clarification ad nauseum, but I do admit when I am off base.

The reason I do ask questions is to get over my initial presumptions, yes. But I do admit where I have misunderstood the intent etc of someone. Calling me out by saying that is playing innocent is actually presuming to know what I think.
Much the same way Odeon stated I look for points. He is wrong, but he's presumed he knows my intent.

Have been poked fun at for asking questions that seem obvious to others. It comes with the territory of never quite knowing what the heck anyone really means. Who cares? Questions are good.

I thought it meant you tried to tell most of the people here are not able to tell when they are off base.
That's your observation. I could be insulted by it, I could take offence, I could disagree, I could even agree, or applaud you, but I thought it was your interpretation and your observation. And I let it be.
It did catch my eye. I was wondering who are all included in the "unlike most here", but could not be bothered the first time I read it.
Now I am curious though.

We've got problems like that too. Most animals will stay away from the poisonous stuff when standing in the field, but when dried to hay, they'll eat it.

gtf over it.
If I'm not mistaken, didn't you bitch a fair bit about karma recently? :zoinks:

Too vague. General references to "some people" and "other people" are insufficient. Name names.

Some people have no trouble assuming those sorts of jabs are always about other people, so names aren't too urgent.

Imprecision can be useful. Ambiguity, on the other hand, serves only the dissembler, and on occasion the punster.
