Have you ever found yourself not giving a shit about anything or anyone including yourself?

On a more serious note, Isn't totaly not giving a shit about anything a symptom of Schizoid personality disorder?

 ???

I think they consider you depressed if you don't give a shit about yourself.
Schizoid is when you don't give a shit about anyone else.

"Schizoid personality disorder is a psychiatric condition in which a person has a lifelong pattern of indifference to others and social isolation."

https://health.google.com/health/ref/Schizoid+personality+disorder#Symptoms

Yep, there are definately days where I just don't give a shit about much of anything. Usually a result of dealing with too much shit of my own.

Happens a lot to me. Mostly about other people. Have been dxed with Schizoid PD before.

Icequeen is right, not caring about yourself is a sign of depression.

Well it sucks to feel like that.

I have been feeling this way more and more these days. I need something to do but can't think of anything. Feeling very schizoidish.  :-\

Are you feeling a bit like that because GA's party is coming up and will be a 'social' event too? That might not be helping, even though you are happy that there's a birthday going on because you've been out and bought all the stuff.

Yeah the getting ready has helped me feel as if I have something to do. I am not too worried about the party now although I will probably be :GA: when everyone gets here. Will probably retreat to the bedroom and go online.

Got a doctor appointment today so I am going to mention that I have been feeling crap lately to the doctor.

Got a new anti depressant; mirtazepine. Anyone tried this?

Never even heard of it

according to google it's a tetracyclic antidepressant . never tried anything like that myself I don't think. I tried dosulepin once which is a tricyclic antidepressant but didn't help me.

I hope it works for you anyway :)

Thanks. It is supposed to work well in combination with Cymbalta which I am already taking.

Thank you. :)

I start the meds tonight. I want to feel better soon as I don't like the feeling of not caring about anything. At least feel better before I go back to uni as I want to care about my studies. No point in going if I don't care!

Thanks. :)

So far it helps me get off to sleep pretty well. I feel drowsy in the morning as well but hopefully that effect wears off.

I was on a tetracyclic antidepressant once years ago, and it worked wonders. But I had to increase the dosage slowly and again come off it slowly. I followed the instructions exactly and within 3 months felt like a new person. I hope you persist with it Renaeden, sometimes we want an instant fix, but you have to have patience and let the drug do it's work and grow some nice happy pathways in your brain. That takes time.

Thank you Eclair. :)
I am actually already on an antidepressant that is supposed to be working but it isn't so the mirtazapine is an add-on. I am hoping I will feel better by August because that is when uni starts again.

All I can say is please, every day, remember to take your dosage. And perservere. This isn't like some quick fix anxiety thing, like valium....you need to give it at least a couple of months, taking your dose religiously. If you don't, you can't really blame the drugs or your doctors. Sometimes we just have to do as we are told and give it a shot.
