Touche.
Looks like I'm slipping.
-
never!
-
The comedy flamer strikes again :D
-
Do we have an in crowd and an out crowd? Who is a member of the out crowd and who is a member of the inn crowd? Want to get together and play a game of soccer, or Risk?
-
i prefer to go in then out, then in then out again. repeat till it feels just right.
-
I really wish they had let you remain on that site MCJag. I would have loved to see you on there. You should have just pretended to be a limey.

i just feel incrdibly guilty about lying. i just cannot do it .

Lame-o with too much time on her hands reports for duty. ;D
However, I take issue with RobertN's insistence that he is being bullied. People just don't agree with him, and/or find him annoying... that is not bullying.
-
hi shima.
have you been a good girl lately?
-
Not only that, I've been attending a Bible thumping church :o.
-
why?
you are too young to be going through the change of life.
what has been going on in your life to make you seek redemption.
-

What church may that be?

No its a site for British aspies.
Looks like a private club for bourgois English types.

Might explain why its so dull then  I used to be a member of Aspie talk (the ashes of which this one came up from), but nothing ever went on there so I forgot it existed.

It is very kind of you to make the Americans think they are not missing anything by being excluded from the private club, PurposefulInsanity.
I notice that your karma is now the answer to life, the universe, and everything. Do you want to keep it here for a little while or do you want to let it go where it wants to?

I'm glad if made you feel like you weren't missing out on anything but it was still the truth- although it was probably more than a year since the original site went tits up so it could now be party central
As for the karma thing, I always find I've been having the most fun on Intensity when my karma is up and down like a bride's nightie so I aren't too fussed

That is a really funny expression.

I have an unused log-in for aspie village, which I use to troll if I need to. If I have a trusted friend who wants to visit the place i will share the password with them.

Its slightly more tasteful than 'up and down like a prossie's knickers', but only just

I don't know but perhaps a publically viewable forum isnt the best place to suggest it
-
The movie was that quote from PI? "Fuck me gently with a chainsaw" because I love it, but I found it on YTMND.

What a n00b
-
Excellent movie.
Never seen it. Is it a chick flick? I see reviews call it a black comedy. My all time favorite movie is the Big Lebowski. Would I like Heathers?
-
Put it this way Bazza - I hate 'chick flicks', my favourite films are Pulp Fiction, the Kevin Smith films (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, etc), twisted immature shit like Freddy Got Fingered - but I fucking love Heathers. Its twisted, and Christian Slater is mental in a good way in it. 8)
-
black comedy? it's mainly white girls and christian slater! it's not a chick flick. It's more of a comedy that makes fun of of suicide. It's funny as hell.

The guy who plays Jay from Jay and Silent Bob hit on a friend of mine.
-
They probably mean black comedy as in comedy that makes fun of human suffering and has a twisted, morbid plot that is disturbing yet funny.
Also:
I'm under the impression that the actor who plays Jay isn't doing much but playing himself.
-
Ohhh, that kind of black... :-[

especially the eggplant scene.
-
But Christian Slater doesn't really act. He just is. :-\

Yeah, but in Heathers he just was excellent (*wonders why there's no drooling smiley*)

'kay... I guess I have to see it, then.
He sucked in Interview with the Vampire. But then again, damn near everybody in that film did, one way or another. D

Do Not Read The Book. i repeat, Do Not Read The Book. it's fucking atrocious - if i see the word "preternatural" more than once in a whole book, let alone on every other page, no jury in the land will convict me.
this version is all you need to know, anyway:
http://www.rinkworks.com/bookaminute/b/rice.interview.shtml
-
We've talked about that book before, haven't we? I think I said something like that about the word "preternatural". :D
I think the first book wasn't that bad. The second was readable but not good. The third was a mess. Etc.
-
we have. i couldn't finish the second book. as for the third...
i was only reading them cos the association with the initiatory journey, according to an HPS friend of mine. i lost the will to live before i'd even finished the first.
and to think, anne rice is a best-selling author, and i got yet another rejection slip today... ::)
-
Anne Rice is just outputting text these days. The last book by her that was reasonably good was the Witching Hour, and she's managed to output about a gazillion vampire books since then.
-
see what i mean?
i'm reading neil gaiman's "anansi boys", and have had hysterics at least four times already, even though i'm only about a quarter of the way through. now there's someone who can write a book. not literary, of course, but i love his mind...
anne rice has the back of one of her hands permanently attached to her forehead (BOHOF), in an angst way, which is why she can't fucking well write.

Anansi's a great book. I read it a couple of months ago, and enjoyed every single page. Have you read American Gods?
-
yes - all of his. i love stardust, cos it's beautiful - almost like william blake's stuff. or whatisname - macdonald's phantasm. and his short stories are fab, too. and neverwhere. erm...
that's all he's written, isn't it? lol.
oph, but good omens with terry pratchett is fucking hilarious - i actually had to put that book down because i was laughing so much, i couldn't see the words through the tears. i also woke the neighbours doing so - at 04.00.
vaughan williams' fat bottomed girls !!!
-
that's all he's written, isn't it? lol.
There's Coraline, too.
-
bye, intensity!
/hurtles off to amazon...
edit: poo. it's a kids' book... :(
-
Get a decent copy. The illustrations are wonderful but the trade paperback is of poor quality.
-
I've read all the sandman books, but I never got round to reading his prose novels. It was this quote from him that put me off them , when he said "Sandman is my life work, the prose novels are just trivia to fill in the time" or something like that. I could never motivate myself to read them after hearing that.

I enjoyed Interview with the vampire- but the ones after that were just tedious. T've read The Witching Hour, but wasn't that impressed with that either. I keep meaning to read the Beauty series of books she did- but because most of her stuff sucks I can't make myself buy them in case they suck too.
-
what happened to the lameo talk? :P i couldn't be assed to read the middle pages.
-
Tom Cruise was excellent in that movie btw... his best roles have been Lestat and that Vanilla Sky Guy. :-* :-* :-* he's yum.
-

On Intensity threads rarely stay on topic- I always think that's part of the site's charm
-
i do too
but i was hoping someone could fill me in seeing as i'm so lazy. :P

Ok, basically the lamo talk never really got off the ground since it was a link that had already been posted a couple of days earlier. Nomaken touched on the idea of an in crowd and an out crowd, mcjagger of course made an innuendo about sex; we discussed the fact it was a British only site; we talked about Heathers for a bit; that lead to talk about Christian Slater; which lead us to talk about Interview with the vampire; which lead to talk about Anne Rice.
That do ya?
-
nicely, thanks
