Title: Ask a question.
Post by: Nomaken on July 26, 2006, 04:35:17 PM
I know i'm pushing my luck on the post single whatevers in the same thread, but i have a question, and i already made a thread called I got a question, so I made this an everybody thread.

My question is:  How are you supposed to regulate eye contact with obviously physically disabled people, and regulate looking at them in general in order to give them proper respect?

I don't care much about making eye contact with normal people, I think if you're a normal person and the person speaking to you is deliberately and obviously avoiding eye contact, that there is some reason, and they aren't just trying to be disrespectful.

However I feel a responsibility to respect and be nice to potentially vulnerable people.  And I just like doing it anyway.  But I have trouble enough dealing with eye contact with normal people, but when I see a physically disabled person, i go all to pieces.  I have no idea when to look, where to look, if i should look, if i shouldn't look.  I am afraid if i don't look, they'll think i'm horrified by them and are avoiding looking at them.  And I'm afraid if I look too long or in the wrong place, they'll get offended too.

I often wish that I had telepathy so I could just project my respect for people into them, without having to worry about facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice.

How many days can a person go without eating anything, but drinking water and soda and stuff, before getting all weak and confused, assuming the person has a healthy amount of body fat?

get one of them tiny phillips screwdrivers and take your keyboard apart.  also, buy some of that 5 dollar air in a can.  once your keyboard is apart clean it.  chances are there is a bit of a potato chip under there.

I can totally relate - I have had the same problem of wondering if I'm looking at them in a way so as to not seem like I'm staring at them or disrespectful.  I can't do it with non-disabled people, so it's no surprise I can't do it with disabled people either.  But since what you're probably talking about is just walking by people, it really doesn't matter since it's not like you have a relationship with them.

But if you really have an affinity for disabled people, why not work or volunteer in a place where you can get to know them?  Then you can develop a relationship with them and they will know you respect them.

Does it bother you that your boyfriend likes someone who looks (in your mind, apparently) like a 13 year old?

My pubic hair has never bothered me.  Occasionally a pube or two get caught under the foreskin, but that's about the extent of my pube-traumas.  What bothers you about it?

Sometimes, but only because it seems to grow so quickly.

I think getting a few hairs torn out pales in comparison to pooring scalding hot wax on the area and then tearing out a huge mass of them.  It may be unexpected however.

Okay, we all know that Freud was full of it, and we know he thought all boys want to possess their mothers, but.... did Freud believe that mothers wanted to fuck their sons?  And Fathers fuck their daughters?  I never heard it, but i wouldn't put it past him.  Does anybody know?

the romans did it, and the greeks, and the spartans, and the whole fucking time period they're associated with too....

yea and still a majority of americans (hillbillies and the like), not making too many generalisations here but "anything could happen in the next halfhour"...

Waxing pubes is not actually that painful.  It wasn't for me.  Then again I am a masochist.

My question: is it normal to be an emotionally-stunted nearly-20 year old addicted to an aspie forum?

Also, is I2 starting to get sick of me reviving old threads yet or do I need to try harder?  :zoinks:
