The next great war.   I hope millions of people die!

We may get lucky, and it'll be billions this time.

But there's good news on that situation, the U.S has recently transferred bunker buster bombs and other bombing munitions to Diego Garcia, located in the Indian Ocean. This joint U.S/UK base on the island, happens to be a strategic position for any warfare involving the middle east. This base was also used to support bombing aircraft for the Iraq war. So going by this transfer of bunker busters munitions to there, and the increasing rhetoric against Iran, you get the idea. But the beauty is now that, the Russians want to help Iran start it's first reactor in northern hemisphere summer time... So war is likely coming soon.

Anyway, I looking for to the downfall of humanity and Earth's first somewhat hostile contact with an intelligent alien species. In that order. :orly:

This reminds me of an older friend, not the most optimistic person in the world, who refers to plagues and natural disasters as "God's little pruning shears."

It's soaking wet in here, that Easter bunny will come inside and hide his eggs indoors.

Got some nice ones that look like regular eggs but that are sugar coated chocolate ones. (And of course have got colourful ones too)

* Asks bunny to hide some more, because of a floating visitor from the USA. *

Space: 1999

Actually, it was really bad. I was around ten when the show was first broadcast. Loved it. Ten or twelve years later I saw it was being rerun on a cable channel so I decided to watch it again, remembering how completely in awe I had been.

It sucked.

It was unimaginative, plastic (SFX, actors, pretty much everything), and above all boring as hell. I suffered through a few episodes, thinking maybe I simply needed some time to readjust, but it actually got worse.

Can I recommend watching paint dry instead?

A perfect example of you can never go home again.  The only gum I've found that tastes like the bubblegum of my youth is Trident Sugarless Bublegum.  Also, melted ice cream is definitely a childish taste.  I could go on and on.

Disliked most meat after we changed butchers when I was a little child. Before that, I was a genuine carnivore.

What is the relevance to Hitler in that post? ;)

the only connection (tenuous at best) is that The Real Housewives of Atlanta is about 5 (I think) rich women in Atlanta.  All but one is black and the white one is very much like her friends.  Anyway, since Hitler wanted to eradicate the "negroes" as well, that my be the connection.

Personally if I was from Atlanta I would be quite embarrassed that they were chosen to represent Atlanta.  But then, I have never liked any of the "Real" housewives they have chosen for any of the series.  They're all rich and seem to do pretty much of nothing even if they have jobs.

One of my friends gets a flooded basement every time it rains heavily. She lives at one of the lowest points on her hilly street,
and her pump is not quite up to the task sometimes.

Would making one small daily change, and sticking to that, help you getting on the way?

Unfortunately in my case getting a routine is starting to be critical.  No one is happy with the way I'm going through life right now, most of all me.

I know that feeling.  Avoiding a routine feels easy for awhile, but eventually
the resulting problems and stress can make the unstructured life exhausting.   :GA:
In the deep desert on Arrakis people had to lear a non rythmic  gait so the sandworms wouldn't get them.

Come Friday night. If all goes according to plan, I'll have the house all by myself then, till Saturday after dinner.  :headbang2:

That'll teach me to look forward to things.

It's 7 pm. I'm realising it is not going to happen.

Bad temper control on maximum.

Trying to reset myself, and getting the girls to reset themselves too.

Thank you,

Girls are on the bus, it is irreversible now. :D

Bloody Vodafone though. The uneasiness of not knowing what would happen was growing here. Decided to feed the girls, because they would not be at their dad's before dinner time. Finally we drew the conclusion that it wasn't going to happen. And lo and behold, communication was up right in time. So, we reset our minds again. Girls were quicker at that than I was. That's a good thing.

I just begged a tenner from my old man, so I could have one meal a day, maybe every other day for a week or so.

Then discovered I'd been paid over £200 that I didn't expect, think I had, or know of.

That means FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!

I haven't had a meal this week, nor anything but HCl-tangified, buffered glucose water to drink, literally, not one meal a day, not one meal this WEEK other than a couple lucky kills.

Now...mmm...even...two packs of carling citrus zest, and a premixed lime margarita (15%, and really, really tasty.) and a packet of tobacco. Had nothing to smoke but ends, and whiffs of nicotine base, vaporized using a clean glass dick (yeah, yeah, fuck off, whoever was going to be the first to be a mardy lil twatsniffler :P )

3-cheese pizzas in the fridge, more in the freezer, a freezer stocked with ice lollies of all kinds, lots and lots of soft drink, an entire cupboard full of olives (a pizza without olives is like the catholic priesthood without child-fucking, or police without braindead thugs and WMD-scale faggotry.

Plus something like £80-something worth of other nosh and treats. Going to treat myself to some stuff for the lab, splash out on some more isopropanol, diethyl ether, THF and now I can finally get work at building a Castner cell to ideally produce nice decent sized slugs of sodium metal and if I have enough left over, a roughing pump for the particle accelerator I wish to build myself.

First thing I'm looking forward to?  inhaling another icy cold citrus bottled lager,  gods thats fucking manna from heaven. And getting some nice fresh rollup-scented air while I send a nice juicy bolus of oxycodone HCl coursing through my veins which too are currently eyeing it up and licking their lips in anticipation of the goodness to be sent their way. :D

*drains his second beer in one satisfied pull and lets off a resounding, beefy belch of satisfaction.

Its quite stunning just how amazingly satisfying having such a bounty of chow, I mean, enough for a WHOLE meal, not just a few slugs of milk, and 4-5 crackers spread out over several days. Its such a simple everyday thing until you have nothing, nothing you didn't have to expend precious energy you didn't have, hiking painfully on fucked up joints, just hoping you can put a couple of rounds into something cute, fwuffy and yummy; and its always risky as shit; makes me nervous some doogooding little HIV-magnet pissant piece of dog fuck would get on the phone crying to the coppers 'boohoo, I'm all butthurt, I saw somebody with a rifle in the woods minding his own business (unless you have four legs, fur and make good stew or fry well that is) and bothering no man.

There is ALWAYS somebody around that just loves to get themselves off on causing such strife, some faggot little prick that has to go out of their way to spoil somebody else's day, life and property. And I doubt that 'my family will give me nothing in the way of support, my income has been taken from me, and I must eat if I am to continue to live' would matter a fucking damn if they get to persecute somebody, prosecute them too if they get lucky. Plus I really cannot afford to lose the airgun I use for taking snack-sized game, as then the only ranged weapons accessible suitable for hunting would be making a bow, which I cannot shoot accurately reliably to poach and humanely kill larger game, a blowpipe or something electrical/electromagnetic which is far, far more my style...although if in theory the filth were to turn up with me getting off with a farmer's chickens or a sheep or something, packing a 25mm heavy gauss or electrolaser pulse gun then I'd be fucking for the tyburn jig at dawn and no mistake unless I went and swappd sheep for pork :P

Fuck losing the capacitor banks to power such beasties, fuck that right off!

And I'm really not a fan of pork much

Finishing the prawn curry leftovers that are waiting for me in the kitchen, whilst I get some of frozen fruit cider sorbet out of the fridge and have a rollup, and then go to bed in a while after hitting a quick bed time bong to help me get to sleep.

Picked up several big boxes of these Kopparberg cider sorbet in a foil pouch things, elderflower and lime, and they are absolutely delicious, melting in the mouth so one almost inhales rather than swallows or drinks.

I actually took them to be pre-packaged cocktails whilst shopping, glad I did, because as a rule I really don't like cider. At least, not those hideous travesties marketed as cider, 'white lightening', strongbow, that sort of thing, they just smell and taste too much like vinegary rotten apples
Can't taste a hint of that in these, and had I realized what I was buying at the time I very likely would never have discovered them. Glad I did though, I'll have to go back to get a few more to try the other flavours on offer.

Although chances are I'll stick with the elderflower/lime for most of them, elderflower is one of my favourites, elderflower cordial, a nicely flavoured vodka can be made by distilling some clean, drinkable ethanol over and through a big batch of freshly picked elder flowers, which are seasonal, but very available in-season, as elderberry is a very common tree here (and if one is lucky, theres a fair chance of finding jew's ears growing out of the trees too that can be used for soups, stews and such, its a fungus that grows almost exclusively on common elder, although rarely its been found on red berried elder, and iirc on some other substrates too, but thats most uncommon, I've only ever seen jews ears growing on elder. The name comes from the legend that judas iscariot, tortured by guilt at betraying christ, chose an elder to hang himself from, and the fact that they do indeed look and feel like a thin-fleshed, gelatinous, cartilaginous severed human ear, sticking out from the wood)

Yup.  I'm so damn excited.  Test is all day Tuesday and Wednesday, we are spending Thursday morning loading up the RV (and I need to change the oil in the engine and the generator) and then we are heading out to the desert for three days of camping.

CBC will get a kick out of this: every time I am driving back from the desert in my 1987 motorhome the cops pull me over to see if it's a meth lab on wheels.  When they get to the front and see my kids they give me a quick warning and send me on my way.

Taking from the kitchen, and devouring the two trays of fresh, juicy raspberries in the fridge as well as scarfing the three custard filled donuts left for me that my old man got for him and mom's pudding the other day, as he took one each for them, but left  me the remaining three all to myself. Which I'm definitely going to take advantage of. I'm REALLY hungry.

Also looking forward to getting round to run a modified Birch-Benkeser reduction and test a modification intended to avoid the requirement for working with cryogenic liquid gases (ammonia, the birch reduction uses the 'electride', or solvated electrons made by addition of sodium metal, in the classic Birch, and lithium in the case of the birch-benkeser  to liquid anhydrous ammonia, that works as a powerful reducing agent, the sodium variant is even capable of de-aromatization of a benzene ring to a cyclohexane!. I fancy trying a solution of gaseous annie, not liquid, for the reasons of being easier to handle, less dangerous, as the liquid annie is pretty corrosive, led, as the gas, into diethyl or diisopropyl ether, in which a suspension of lithium will be added, the ammonia led in to form the lithium bronze in-situ. And simply add the substrate to be reduced in a further portion of one of those, or THF perhaps, although I actually HAVE the diethyl and diisopropyl ethers here, I'd have to buy more if I went with THF, and I can't bring myself to spend money on something two options just as good already exist for right at hand. Why pay, and why wait for a package to travel from point of origin to receiving it?

Thought it sunday...but its monday.

Looking forward to Being GIVEN the anticonvulsants I so badly needed and got fucked over on over the weekend. And not having to MAKE the very same drug from scratch by the art and craft of my own two shaking, myoclonic hands. (ever had to handle a liquid thats corrosive as hell to flesh, and which decomposes in air due to the moisture present to billowing fumes of sulfur dioxide and hydrochloric acid gas, while you have to physically restrain your active hand with the other, grabbing the wrist and pinning it down to avoid THROWING said thionyl chloride instead of reacting it with the water-precipitating fraction of the cleavage products from vitamin B1 (thiamine) effected by sodium metabisulfite solution in water.?)

Its not particularly fun, even for a diehard techpunk and science addict who lives, eats, drinks, sleeps, breathes, pisses and shits o-chem.

Going to have a cigarette and a last big long hoof on the skag pipe and go collect the shit I SHOULD have had ages ago. Oh and listen to the song playing on youtube atm. I LOVE obscure sphinx. And that deaths head hawkmoth pic, I want that as a tat! omfg that chick is fucking gorgeous! thsts like rettdevil level of drop dead sexy..well nearly, not quite THAT far. You have friends?

That should have the jealous font, not the mean, sarcastic font. Sometimes I forget how I come across.

Fraternal. My twin has dark brown hair, dark blue eyes and is taller than me. And thinner than me too.

She actually had a delay in gross and fine motor skills so she went to therapy when we were 5/6 years old. She also stayed down a grade in school.

Seriously are people being especially annoying lately or is it just menopause?

It's like every hyper active extrovert spent 3 months chewing at the bars while overdosing on caffeine and sugar.

It's just too many people keep asking me stupid questions about where certain items are at.. the thing that got a customer pissed off last time was where to look for bandages...

The coming week. I'm going to Prague for a conference, and I am addressing an audience live for the first time in 28 months.

You should know that I am always deathly nervous before a talk, to the point where I'm thinking that next year I'm not going to write a paper to begin with. For the last two years, however, I've been doing talks via Zoom, which is far worse since I don't even know if my audience is asleep or not.

It's taking its time, you wrote about it months ago in April.

I'm looking forward to the rainy season being over. After months of rain and heat, everything outside always grows a layer of funk and I'm ready for it to be cleaned. The driveway and sidewalks need to be cleaned. The patio pavers and outdoor furniture need to be cleaned. The fence and the shed need to be cleaned. And the whole outside of the house needs to be pressure washed this year. I want it all cleaned but I'm also feeling too old to be scrubbing fence anymore, so I'm thinking about buying a pressure washer.  :orly:

No, you need a weapon or the confidence to feel safe in your own skin.
If it's just a wee bit off, get through it. If it's a massive bit off, deploy your weapon, which could be as simple as your voice at high level or a whistle and then your "feets" as needed.

Next week's holidays. Due to the generous Queen, we have a day of mourning next Thursday, then we celebrate her birthday one more time on the following Monday. Can you guess how many people are going to take the Friday off in order to make it a five day weekend?

In Victoria the Friday is also a public holiday due to AFL Grand Finale, so here it will be everyone  :green: (for me every day is a day off, except for the demons in my head I guess)

I'm sorry about the demons in your head, that can't be nice.

Is Monday 26th over there a public holiday too?

The demons are most likely a result of me constantly trying to solve the unsolvable problems in my life and not being kinder to myself, probably the same as everyone else.

Don't think Monday is also a public holiday here, the next one after that is Melbourne Cup day which is a Tuesday, so everyone just takes Monday off anyway.

Tomorrow. This morning I didn't feel well, sometimes my morning meds make me a little nauseous so I thought it was that.  However this morning I actually threw up, so I decided to lay back down and the next thing I knew it was 1pm. My stomach felt fine, but I also felt like I could go right back to sleep, but I made myself get up because I was worried about not being able to sleep tonight. Then I didn't do much of anything else except make dinner. Fortunately it's a three day weekend, so tomorrow I get another day to make up for the one I lost today.  :2thumbsup:

^Don't be too hard on yourself if you're still not 100% tomorrow.

I didn't have any huge plans for the day. On the weekends I always do what I call 'taking care of business'. Sugarbutt checks the mail each day and I sift through it to get rid of stuff that needs to be shredded or recycled, but anything else gets tossed into a drawer for the weekend. On the weekends I pull it all out and deal with anything that needs action, filed, paid or whatever, and I log expenses into the budget. I didn't do that this weekend. I overslept again this morning, then took care of business, and then I made Sugarbutt another fancy sandwich for lunch from last night's leftovers. After lunch I decided to clean the cars but I felt really worn out by the time I was done cleaning the insides, so I sucked it up and paid to drive them through the automatic car wash. I told Sugarbutt the car wash was super nice, but I'm not sure if it's worth the expense to do on a regular basis.  :dunno:

Sugarbutt and I watched Glass Onion together. It wasn't really my thing but that may mean he would like Knives Out, so maybe we'll watch that together too.  :lol1:

Also I'm wanting a challenge... the challenge being Tarkovsky's version, not Stephen Soderberg

We might have a girlfriend for my daughter's chiweenie boy dog. He's a tiny little fellow, nine pounds of might and fury. Perfect companion for my daughter.

I say "we might have" because we are second in line after another family. She's a thirty pound dog and the family ahead of us wanted a smaller dog. She is a lab/pom mix, but looks like a small lab in the face. She doesn't have the squishy pomeranian face.

My hopes are high!

Pie

Well, SHIT YEAH!

We seem to be in brownie, cake and cookie mode here. My daughter bakes almost every day exploring and building her culinary skills.

But fruit PIE baking is a thing I excel at. My wife has her own specialities and I can't wait until she can stay home and kitchen up all week, but we are not there yet.

Believe me, she would rather bake than do UPS work all night! Four more years and she can retire with full pay, which is substantial.

But HELL, I passed up some really awesome plums at the store the other day, because I just do not feel whole yet after the flu I am still fighting.
I wonder now if baking a plum pie or an apple pie or a pear pie or a cherry pie would help to fix me ...

What do you think?

I'm looking forward to this weekend. I'm hosting a family lunch gathering so everyone gets the chance to see my momma while she's visiting. I'm going simple and easy, a sandwich platter, chips and fruit salad, and probably a big bowl of jellybeans.  :lol1:

That's a great idea for a food service solution to a family gathering!

We have actually done that for years for any holiday where family visits are the thing. Yep, even Christmas.
It started due to the immediate family on my wife's side growing to be too big for two tables.

We decided that who ever hosts the get together day will handle the meat and everyone else brings a side dish or a dessert to the "party."

That evolved into SCREW IT!  We'll order from a deli counter a few days ahead and have them do all the work. I'd walk out from the deli with a large sliced meat tray, veggie tray, cheese tray, cracker, bread and condiment tray and a fruit tray. Bowls of chips and more bread and crackers were available also. That and a few gallons of iced tea and pop for those inclined.
I'm done!
All anyone brought was a dessert, if they wanted. Everyone made candy or pastries they were proud to share, so there was never any shortage of sweets.

Yes, I dropped a bit of coin for convenience, but the next one in the rotation will pick up the tab, next year.

I hope your mom enjoys her visit and everyone gets to spend some time with her.
 :2thumbsup:

I'm looking forward to my first fire in my new pit. I came today and I still have to assemble the thing, but this will be so much easier than a huge stack of rocks for a firepit.

I am looking forward to this Metronet project being over and done!

They popped a natural gas line yesterday and we had to evacuate for our own safety while they dug the shit up and repaired the line. That was a pain!

But surprisngly, they had it done in about an hour and a half and we could return home.

It was a complete surprise and we were not prepared, so we grabbed a summer sausage we had in the 'fridge, a loaf of bread, some cheese, a carton of bottled water, the dog and headed to the park.

I honestly think we kind of needed that, anyway, gas leak or not.

^^The city does that in late spring here, usually May.

My problem would be caused by our HOA agreements. We are not supposed to leave anything out at the curb for more than twenty four hours. The city says they will be in specific neighborhoods during a span of a week.

:hair:

I am fortunate in that I do not have anything to be rid off that will not fit in the normal dump bins each household has to maintain.

Our city doesn't do that but each year our HOA gets a big ole dumpster for large items. We've used it a couple of times, but I don't like hanging on to trash for a whole year, so if it's at all possible to get rid of it by disassembling or cutting it up, then that's what we do. Like when we replaced the back door, the guys cut the old one into pieces. I think it took three trash days to get rid of it but it's gone. I also got rid of the old tv stand by taking it apart.  :dunno:

I am so fucking done.  My ass will ABSOLUTELY NOT be driving to Ohio.  My girlfriend made a nasty comment to me and has been ghosting me for 13 hours.  I couldn't sleep for six hours afterwards and I still haven't been able to eat anything solid.  This isn't even the first time she's done something like this and it gives me so much anxiety.  I'm kindaaaaaaa looking forward to breaking up with her now.  She'll probably block me afterwards but I don't care any more.  Kinda wish I'd never been born.  Fuck dating.  srsly.
