Former Billboard Canadian bureau chief and current CelebrityAccess senior editor Larry LeBlanc says the fallout from banning Canadian private radio stations from airing the unedited version of the 1985 hit “Money For Nothing” — specifically for its repeated mention of the word “faggot” in a verse of the song — could resonate with music programmers for some time to come.

Heard this on the radio today any thoughts? In Canada too what's next

I saw that yesterday and what annoyed me was that they edited out the word faggot when EXPLAINING that it was about the word faggot. So you have to actually work out what the fucking word is. OK sure it only takes a few seconds, but it's annoying when they do it all the time in news.
Here they often play the xmas song that says Faggot in it around xmas. It's a good song and they don't even bleep it out in the afternoon. People are stupid - they're just words.
Having said that though, would they play a song with "nigger" or "paki" in it?

Have you ever listened to rap?
-
Yeah I have plenty of music with "nigga" in it. I mean without censoring it
-
Also I meant more "nigger" rather than "nigga". For example a racist white person, rather than black people saying it to each other. I doubt they'd play many songs like that
-
I heard about this bullshit.
It was a hit from 1985.
WTF, if they wanted to censor it why didn't they do it then, why wait 26 years? How often do they REALLY play this on the air?
I think after a certain time span they shouldn't be allowed to alter it.
-
It's as far as I am concerned just another example pf government overstepping it's bounds

I've heard some racist CD's that have songs like that. Your only chance of hearing them aired would be in the dirty south.
