Title: What are your weird attachments?
Post by: Jesse on August 26, 2013, 09:09:04 AM
I have always been weirdly attached to news anchors. I especially miss Peter Jennings for some reason
I also like Tom Brokaw. I think it their voice that makes me so attached to them, infact I cant virtually listen to the opening theme to their respected news shows over and over again.  :zoinks:

Your weird attachments don't have to be news shows, but anything really. have any?

I like my cars very much, even though they are old Volvos.

I also hate to cut down trees. There can never be enough trees in my opinion.

I don't know if this counts but I like to measure, weigh and quantify things. When I buy a gun or knife I like to measure OAL, barrel or blade length and see how close it is to the literature claims. I also put things on my scale and calculate the muzzle energy of loads with the gravitational constant rounded up or down even though there is no practical difference - the standard deviation and mean spread are larger. At work I like calculating radius bends even though most of my friends prefer to avoid doing so.

As if I'm going to tell this lot any of my attachments.  Must think I'm senile or something.

How close are they usually?

I also hate to cut down trees.  I prefer blowing them up!   :arrr:

  Fixed that.  You're welcome.  :zoinks:

Lately I am de-hoarding my apartment and everything must go!  But I do love to store images on my computer
and in my phone.  I am a digital hoarder now.  And of course I am attached to I2, and to my post count!   :2thumbsup:

Experience both at once with member nudes.

Most are dead on. Smith & Wesson revolver barrels can be up tp .125" off depending on model.

That's what I would expect, and I would expect inside barrel diameter to be precise to within a thousandth of an inch or so.

Yes it is!  With every new cycle, the category of throw-away-able things gets broader!  :arrr:

You are stashing up on space nowadays. And you will get your whole apartment filled with it.

YES!!

Once I knew a guy who lived by the rule that all belongings of importance had to fit in his rucksack. He traveled a lot.

I keep reading this title and thinking it refers to something like detachable/extra parts.  As in, my vaccuum cleaner has an attachment to get at the edges of things, and one to clean upholstery.  I don't have any attachments like that, myself, though.   :'(

GRAVEDIG >:'O

I used to be attached to stuff as a kid, but my moving-out process was quite abrupt, and I didn't bring a single thing with me.
Weening off was therefore quite instant, and since then I don't get attached to objects. They are all interchangeable.

I do harbor some slight attachment to whatever cellphone I tend to have at any given time, in the sense that I'm always a bit reluctant to change it for a newer one.

I'm getting to be that way myself ... detached emotionally from a lot of my stuff.
I dream of relocating and starting a new career, so I am preparing for any opportunities
by de-hoarding!  The less stuff I own, the easier it'll be to relocate when the time is right.  8)

I'm very attached to the first few songs I remember hearing as a preschooler.
This one is special to me.  It was recorded when I was two; I assume I was three
when I became aware of it.  Love the bass part at about two minutes in.

When I listen to the songs I remember from the late 60s/early 70s,
my parents are still alive and vigorous, my father is in the kitchen baking bread.  (emo)

When the movers robbed our house I lost many things to which I was attached; most of them were not quite weird, but they were my friends. Some were stolen and because searching for things to steal made them run late, they rushed to pack and many other things were broken, like my collection of lamps salvaged from other people's trash. They broke three of those, and also broke two of my collection of reachers - those things that grab things off shelves. One was a folding model and they broke it at the brace. M favorite shoes vanished as well as the elaborate electrical system I set up to compensate for the lack of outlets in the house. They stole one of my collection of briefcases - to transport things, I guess.

For some reason they were not interested in my collection of dried fruit - whole lemons and oranges that got dehydrated in my house in MA. Though they took my body glove t-shirts they were not interested in my vast collection of socks, nor were they interested in my collection of ice cube trays.

Actually I have a lot more collections, but since I am dehoarding I am trying to forget them. If you remember me from long ago, that was when the skin flake and scab collection went. Never knew they were weird until autistic people said so....

I'm so sorry.  Were you able to take any legal action?

All I can say is, I hope karma knocks them to their knees!  :pirate:

The insurance company gave us a little money. Py rushed to put the claim in so we only got $600 because we didn't discover some things until later.

I used the money for things we needed here, and kept repeating my mantra (less to manage, less to manage) until it hurt less.

We made a police report, but nothing came of it.

Rushed, my ass. That was the jackoff company relocation aide. I made the mistake of asking him to check the claim to make sure it was filled out correctly. Instead of sending it back or telling me anything he submitted it on my behalf.
