i want some vodkaaaaaaaaa
I usually feel drained, tired and a strong feeling of guilt, as is I've done something terribly wrong.i want some vodkaaaaaaaaa
Don't worry, there's plenty of me to go 'round. [that's not flirting, just playing with words].
i had too much alcohol last night. 3 glasses of wine and 3 beers. :( now i feel sick.Yeah, I can't mix like that. Yucky. :(

I have no clue. I tend to leave and be by myself doing my own thing while the other people socialize. My work threw a Christmas party one last year and it turned out to be socializing for adults and games for the kids, so my boyfriend and I left.

Shows how different I am, no offense. I was told I had HFA, I miss people from school, according to my therapist, who I saw like 4 months ago, aspie socializie more than people with HFA. What is going through your minds I wonder. Judgemental people exaust you or something? Do you look at them when you talk? I still socialize when I am tired and don't feel like it, just because of wanting to not look like a dick. Even when I had trauma, unaware, I didn't get heachache, socialize plenty with my grandmother who is quite, whole weekend, with heavy labor load she gave me.

You have HFA, Flo.
You have HFA, Flo.
Odeon I am curious why you think Flo has HFA, as I was aware HFA/AS are much the same thing. Although one could say somebody was say a higher functioning autistic, medium functioning or lower functioning autistic.
I know that there is no such thing as a "HFA diagnosis". The formal dx is likely "autistic disorder", with test results indicating an IQ in the normal range.

There's no such dx in the manuals, though.

:: shrugs :: It is what it is.
My previous dx was Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The HFA diagnosis was according to the DSM-IV-TR.

My psych did say something about "HFA" vs "Autistic Disorder" as diagnoses but I forget what it was that she said :/
Hey..Isn't this essentially questioning my diagnosis? Doesn't that mean this thread is dead? :P
Aren't most "officially" DX'ed as PDD-NOS, then with the unofficial AS or HFA or whatever which is the real DX?
Socialising drains me.
I went to a funeral last week of a family member, then the people came back to the house. I had to go to sleep in my room because I couldn't cope with the crowds and small talk.

Don't know. I'm "officially" dx'd AS.
AS is an official dx in the DSM, but I think before the TR version, the AS criteria were a bit on the vague side so many got PDD-NOS.
Maybe some of the psychology students could chime in here, briefly, and straighten us all out.

Oops. Sorry. :P ;D
Well I can't find the post. Odeon, no offense, but your an aspie and my sister is on something, therefore I believe you both don't have clue.
My sister has always been a bit nutty even without that something, so as to say less of a clue.

Randy, your life would be a lot easier if you stfu and ate properly.

In someways it would because I wouldn't be so aware of somethings like I am now. Its kind of selfish to do so.
They should be diagnosed as Aspergers or HFA. PDD-NOS is basically a diagnosis they use when they're not sure what the hell you've got.Aren't most "officially" DX'ed as PDD-NOS, then with the unofficial AS or HFA or whatever which is the real DX?

PDD-NOS is one of the proper descriptions used for those who do not fit the Dr. Kanner mold for "typical" autism (the way it was explained to me) and Asperger's desciption is another.
People like me are too highly functional for them to reach a diagnosis of "typical" autism, yet the obvious can not be ignored for long. Both kids by my present wife, myself and the older son by another woman are all diagnosed with "atypical austism" (conversationally) or PDD-NOS (officially).
PDD-NOS (299.80 DSM-IV)
The essential features of PDD-NOS are severe and pervasive impairment in the development of reciprocal social interaction or verbal and nonverbal communication skills; and stereotyped behaviors, interests, and activities. The criteria for Autistic Disorder are not met because of late age onset; atypical and/or sub- threshold symptomotology are present. (Page 77-78)
This category should be used when there is a severe and pervasive impairment in the development of reciprocal social interaction or verbal and nonverbal communication skills, or when stereotyped behavior, interests, and activities are present, but the criteria are not met for a specific Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizotypical Personality Disorder, or Avoidant Personality Disorder. For example, this category includes "atypical autism"-- presentations that do not meet the criteria for Autistic Disorder because of late age of onset, atypical symptomatology, or sub-threshold symptomatology, or all of these.

I think what you are officially diagnosed with depends where you are and what for. For me I have an offical DX of PDD-NOS because that is what the government requires in order for me to qualify for disability support pension. The Guy who DX'ed my is one of the top guys around here, so he knows what he is doing. He'll pretty much do anything in order for you to get what you need, re government assistance, schooling etc. He basicly said that the only time he wont bend the truth in order for you to get what you want is when it comes to the court system. Cool guy.
Can we all at least agree that we have 'autism' in some shape or form?

So true. Around here, an autism disorder dx instead of an Asperger dx means a lot more help from the system.

Where's the fun in that? :P
Here is mine (blanked a few things out :P ):
I only get confused when I read your posts.

That is very considerate blanking out your therapist, psychology is not an exact science, people can make mistakes, and it can cost them a significant portion of their jobs. Stupid people without apparent disabilities jump to conclusions about certain things, messes it up for the rest of us.I only get confused when I read your posts.
Stress, so much, you just wouldn't believe, its no wonder that their are errors confusing you. I am sorry.
I think its hard for a lot of 'normal' people to understand that some of us like being isolated.
Or need to be isolated.

Yeah thats true. They think 'fixing' is required.
I like my alone time. When there's no one around to get the wrong end of the stick.

What exactly is fixing?
What I see is someone having an operation. Now that's fixing.
Everyone has things they need to work on. If fixing is where you are working on something to be a better person, then everyone needs fixing.

it's nice to have a choice, though. "the grass is always greener", etc., but i haven't got family and friends to call on when i need not to be isolated.

I might be psychotic or something.
And do you know who some of the biggest "fixers" are. That's right folks, evangelists. I don't mean the ones who lead by example but the ones who tell us that everything we're doing is wrong and they are the only ones who know what's right for us.I think its hard for a lot of 'normal' people to understand that some of us like being isolated.

Think about some of the people you know. I think we all know some control freaks who are constantly trying to make things around them fit their personal molds.
If I was such a control freak or co-dependent type, I would not be satisfied to allow you to live your life your way. I could not feel good about myself, until I "help you get better." I would have to make you act or live just "like me" or at least the way I expect you to act, so you can be "fixed." If you are not exactly like I expect you to be, then I must "fix" you.
I fucking hate people like that!
There is quite a difference in actually helping people and "fixing" them. Helping someone is about the person who needs help. Fixing someone is about the person doing the "fixing."
My social contact is limited to between 1-3 hours a day which is nice.
Basically I am a re-seller, or the geek the neighbors call when stuff breaks, and I don't leave the house much.
But the last two months I'm dealing with phone calls, meetings, and secretarial duties trying to get stuff lined up with the kid.
SO was "handling it" because I "am a dingbat" according to him and my MIL. I am more than happy to stay out of the picture, contribute from the sidelines, and remain quiet to reinforce that whenever possible...because I've found over the years it's a lot less stressful....and I really, really hate the phone.
...but then sometimes, someone "needs to meet me"...and they ask me a question (while I try to hide in the chair farthest away), they discover I have a brain...and then shit goes south.
Being underestimated does have its perks. :zoinks:
