Title: Anyone else hate reality TV like myself?
Post by: wildthing121675 on June 18, 2007, 08:06:14 PM
I absoultely, turely hate reality TV.  I was wondering if others hated the shows as much as I do.  If I wanna see jackasses, all I need to do is look outside at drunken college kids who don't have any self-respect.

Was wondering if other Aspies detest reality shows.

I'm not a fan of TV.
This type strikes me
as about the worst that
the media can manage,
though I'm not so optomistic
to believe that they can't sink
even lower.

Most of it is total fucking shit. Its responsible for turning talentless, obnoxious fucking nobodies like Jade Goody into fucking celebrities, and fuelling the current pathetic obsession with other peoples lives - as a way of living vicariously to distract people from just how meaningless their own sad lives are. I tend to mentally shelve all that bollocks alongside 'celebrity' gossip magazines and the like; total shit.

I don't mind having some reality TV shows playing in the background while I'm on the comp.

I'm not a fan of them but I have watch Extreme Makeover edition with my mother a few times. I also liked watching Super Nanny but I don't see it on anymore.
I used to watch Changing Rooms though on BBC America because I wanted to know more about England and their lifestyles. I watched anything on that channel back then.
I don't watch much reality TV because I am not into them.

I hate just about all Reality TV programming.   Hell I hate a good deal of what is on TV.  That is why I watch so little of it outside of sports (well movies sometimes).

I watched Big Brother the first few times it was shown here. Then I realised that they pick the same kinds of people every time.

Some of the housemates get very spoiled and forget that they were lucky enough to be chosen in the first place and have the chance to win prizes.

I love reality TV.  Not an avid watcher, but love seeing the crap that people put themselves through just for exposure.

Reality shows are crap, but, if someone likes them, so be it.  They're cheap to produce, make big profits in advertising and provide 15 minutes of fame to talentless, worthless individuals. ::)

You weren't addressing me, but I gotta suggest a system:

There would be no rules, but the participants wouldn't know that for certain, nor would they know the prize.  We'd put them through challenges and shit for the course of the show, just to see how much we could get them to do, and then at the end there would be a big meeting where they'd expect to find out who won.  Instead, the host would say,  "Surprise!  You're all losers!"

and, since, we had already been put through so much stuff, that would seem like a prize/

You seriously oughtta copyright that idea and submit it to the Comedy Channel or whoever.  That is brilliant. :plus:

Maybe so, but it does give off that Big Brother vibe somewhat.

Nah, but I could make suggestions as to
how to establish the groundwork for deciding
on what rules a 'free for all' required.
