As you can see by the name, it's what I love to do on my hikes. Been here before, not sure how much I can add or will post here. BUT, what the hell, nothing ventured nothing gained! Like Lord of the Ales, I may stick around for a bit if it works out! :heisenberg:

What's that in your avatar? :orly:
-
My hand made version of the eye of Sauron.
-
What is it made of? :orly:
-
The wood is oak, scored with a Dremel tool to make the eye shape. The eye itself is a salvaged lens with a red glass piece in the center hole, secured by a copy of the one ring that I bought in a book store. The hole was already in the wood, the flames are stenciled on and painted.

The One RingTM has no copies. Clearly you were ripped off. :M :P

What's your favorite Rock? :)
-
What's your favorite Rock? :)
More like what's my favorite ROCK's, anything volcanic, amethyst, high quality quartz, etc. And any rock that's unusual in color and shape! 8)
-
Nice. A lot of people don't like Quartz but there are some pretty member's of that family, Amethyst, Citrine, Smokey, all the Agates and such.
Can't get enough.

I hear what your saying, Quartz has so much variety and color. I have several specimens of rough citrine and a large trigonic smoky quartz crystal. My prize is a clear Quartz with facets and an amethyst "cloud" in it! 8)
-
Cool. I love Quartz with inclusions in them! I like Tourmaline in Quartz myself, :)

Either of you rock hounds ever own or use a rock polisher? We owned one years ago (my father bought it),
but like so many hobby-ish things, it ended up stashed somewhere; it's probably still in the basement. :autism:
-
We had one a long time ago. Long since gone!

Do you still have some polished rocks from that era? :orly:
-
None, they went out in the odd culling that happened from time to time. Rock polishing was not for either one of us. There are enough professionals out there to do it for us! 8)

Maybe I should become a professional rock polisher. How's the pay?

I wouldn't make a career out of it! ;)

My aunt had one. Loved how pretty pebbles came out of that thing after a long tumble.
