Title: It's so hot out
Post by: Natalia Evans on August 19, 2016, 12:12:30 PM
Yesterday it was a 100, today it's hot out again. My kids are outside playing in the pool. I am just in my shirts and a sports bra because it's so hot out and it's not even noon yet. It as warm out by 9 am. We call it a heatwave when it's above 85 or 90 because this is not normal weather here. Our average weather is in the 70's this time of year. But heatwaves happen every summer and last about two weeks.

Tell us your heat stories.

Pics or it didn't happen:D

Its searing hot here too. I'm only wearing trousers. Well, a long dressing gown too but taking that off. Thats a pain in the ass really, because there be chemistry to be done, which means hotplate and other heat-sources. Quite a lot OF said chemistry too. Going to be very busy :)

I hate hot stuffy nights.

Been busy doing lab work, and in particular having to evaporate a load of methanol that has what I want to work on in it, so the room is getting searing hot. Opened the door and turned the extractor fan on but its still cooking. Or rather. I'm the one that's cooking. In both the :heisenberg: sense and the 'oh shit I'm boiling alive' sense :P

My rear view mirror fell off the windshield of the truck...the glue melted.

Weather hasn't been bad here in the mid-west. Other than that, we're all fine and dandy.

Still cooking but not so badly as before.

Boiling acetone and methanol, doing an extraction on a load of vitamin B1 tablets and cleaning up something by means of acetone boils.

Yeah same here its nice and cool.

Apparently it was the hottest day of the year so far yesterday. Today its rained a little and is quite mild, apparently we are due for torrential rains and thunderstorms later though.

I can't wait. I love listening to the rain, and I LOVE a good thunderstorm. I like those thunderstorms that make like Odin himself has a monstrous hangover from eternity so far spent drinking mead in valhalla out of the skulls of slain enemies, and is determined to take it out on the world at large. Never mind Thor, when there is going to be a storm, I want shit to kick off royally.

Have been boiling alive today. Spent all damn day evaporating off solvent, although a sample of the product in question residing in that solvent, let me have a nice long nap from about 9am to maybe 10pm

Old man got back from fishing, found me asleep and left a big fat grilled cheeseburger with extra cheese out for me for when I woke up from the dipropionylmorphine I'd had earlier.

Yes, but how hot is it?

Its not been long since apparently it was the hottest day of the year. And having a hotplate going on full whack, also evaporating solvents, and having the hot water bath on made it stifling and humid as hell.

I don't know how hot it was, I was not at the time, paying attention to temperature, it was unnecessary.

On Friday and Saturday it is meant to get to 32C and that means it will get hot inside here. We don't have air conditioning here.

Saw a portable air conditioner at Aldi for over $300. Kayleigh said I should buy it with my credit card but I am meant to be paying that off, not buying more with it.

She doesn't have one. She is the sort to spend all her payment the day she gets it, then remain broke for the next two weeks.

I'm with the gopher.  Pay off your own credit card and let her budget for an AC.  :arrr:

Maybe you can each stash away ten bucks every payday to buy one by next summer. Keep it in the freezer, call it cold cash, it'll be fun.  :zoinks:

Would be wise to get you in charge of the savings. You would not be tempted to borrow from it for current passions.

Living a household with so distinct a way to deal with money between the two of you can be really hard. If you want to do this together, you should be the one in charge. And be firm about it. Make sure both of you put in the same amount too.

I could have sworn I saw a live mosquito the other day.  Winter here is not what it used to be.  :(

And tell her only a sweaty armpit of a human being would ever dare think to take from the cold cash.  :zoinks:
