I'm not really into introductions, but I was asked to do so. Anyway, allow me to introduce myself.
Like many members here, I came from other forums, and I happened to stumble upon here because of some juiciness about Alex Plank. Personally, I have a distaste for Plank, due to the fact that he sold out to Them-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named when he produced those videos.
I am actually just lurking around to test the waters, and though I heard of the notoriety of this community, I know I have to know more about this forum and its works.
Anyway, if you want to know more about me, ask away.
-
:welcome: id. What are your interests? Where - approximately - do you live?
-
My long-term interests are history and language. Autism advocacy is a recent interest when my diagnosis was disclosed to me two years ago. (I was diagnosed with HFA when I was 3 years old, but my parents only revealed it to me at the age of 23.) I am staunchly against Autism Speaks, which I will refer to as Them-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named or TWMNBN.
As for my location, I, unfortunately, am born, raised, and currently residing in the political and social quagmire that is the Philippines.
-
Cool, you might be our first member from the PI. I live in Northern CA 40 km North of San Francisco. After your first 10 posts you will be able to see more of the board. Stick around a bit. You might like it here.
-
Indeed. We are all well-wishers.
Imagine I2 like a big community hall. You are in your best clothes and dancing chest to chest heart to heart with many suitors. Dance after dance you are swooned on and spun around and have sweet whispered words grace your ears. You feel accepted an cherished and loved...
...then we bring out the barrel and ask you to step inside :GA:
No seriously, we are a harmfulless lot. Pleased to meet you
-
Thanks, PPK. Hopefully I get to learn the ropes here. I've checked on some of the posts here, and found them quite juicy.
Al Swearengen, that was a good one! Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome here.
I see you have been an active member on wp for a while so hopefully you´ll stick around(sorry but should have looked for a new username if you didnt want this to be brought up).
As for alex his interest on the site has been declining in the past few years and he rarely shows up unless theres money involved(Tambourine-Man made him come back/wp convention as well and now he seems to be back to focusing on his actor career)

Thank you, guys, for the welcome.
V and Sinnocent, thanks, but I would rather people recognize me being from WP. I'm sticking there just for my friends and, of course, for occasional juice. Some of Plank's henches, however, are drying it up. Besides, I feel that Plank's fan-boy TambourineMan is "brainwashed" by TWMNBN as well. Besides, I prefer using the same identity across different autistic communities.
Couldbecousin, hopefully I could find more interaction and whatnot here. And, of course, more juice.
Bodaccea, right on! Ask away!
-
^
^ Ah noes.. not the coach again. :P
Anyway, welcome to I², Imperious one. Also I remember you from WP (am/was erminea there).
-
Why, Lutra, it's nice to see you here! Oh, the good old days, when WP was still free from the clutches of evil that is TWMNBN...

Hello theimperiousdork (may have to shorten that to TID or something else if you may suggest?) :welcome: to Intensity. The Games forum is a good place to get comfortable with posting.
I once worked with a few people from The Philippines, they were cool. :)

-
Thanks, Renaeden! People on WP call me Big D, Imperious, or Dorky. TID is actually my trade name, but you can call me either. :) I'm checking out the Games forums later, though.
It's nice to know that you've worked with some Filipinos! How were you able to get along with them?
Parts, thanks for the welcome. I'm not a whiner here. I'm a winner! Hah!
-
TID then. :)
It's nice to know that you've worked with some Filipinos! How were you able to get along with them?
I found that they were kind, gentle, softly-spoken and easy-going. Very hard workers too.
Just wondering, did you ask your parents why they didn't tell you about your autism at an earlier age?
-
Renaeden, that's good to know! That is something we are proud of ourselves. ;)
As for my parents not telling me, they claimed they wished me to live a "normal" life, and not be stigmatized when I grow up. For a while, I had the assumption that I was just quirky, but when I had stumbled on some autism resources, I, at first, did a self-diagnosis, but when I asked my parents to have me officially diagnosed, that's where the truth came in. I was shown papers from a psychologist confirming that I have HFA.

Hello TID, :welcome: to the cosy place called I2.
Be sure not to miss our community camp-fire sing-along evenings, every other fortnight.
:kumbaya:
It keeps us all happy and loving and calm.
:meditate:
-
Thanks, Hykeaswell! Will look forward to that. ;)

:evilplus: OMG hyke, you are wicked today!

So another HFA joins us. As far as I'm aware, me, Renaeden and now you are the only HFAs on here. I'm probably forgetting a few others.
-
:evilplus: OMG hyke, you are wicked today!
Me?
I'm just a sweet, innocent little cow.

Renaeden, that's good to know! That is something we are proud of ourselves. ;)

That certainly sounds like it would have been a WTF?? moment. HFA is more than just quirky imo (fellow HFAer here, there are a few of us on here). You sound like you have a good attitude about it, I think I would have been quite annoyed at my parents!
Edit: Just saw the Professor's post.
-
My question...
if you could have a super power for a day what would it be and why and how would you use it?
meh, i would read minds, and then blackmail folks for large amounts of cash after the super power wore off!
-
Renaeden, that was really a WTF moment, though I knew it was coming. I grew up in the neurotypical world, and was compelled to behave like an NT, but still the HFA in me was still manifesting. Oh, well.
Bodaccea, if I'd have a superpower, I'll have the power of the Jumper. I will amass all the money, riches, items, and assets I can muster in any bank, museum, shop, or any other establishment worth plundering, and once my power's all used up for the day, I can buy everyone off.
-
I am a simple man with simple needs...I would have the power of invisibility and hide in womens locker room

Hi The Imperious Dork.
:welcome:
I could see your parent's point in not telling you about your autism if you were in a loving and accepting community when you were younger, but I think that it's cool that you figured it out on your own when you were older, anyway.
-
Thanks, Callaway. Actually, school was on the contrary. I was heavily bullied, especially in high school. I studied at a special school, but was mainstreamed, and my parents didn't bother pulling me out. Let's just say, I was raised to be tough through tough means, but oh, well.
-

In that case, I'm very sorry that they didn't tell you. Maybe if they had told your school that you needed special help, you would have had more protection from bullying. Maybe they were in denial about your diagnosis themselves.

Hi there ID (theimperiousdork is a bit too long)
I used to be on WP too, but was banned long ago.
I was Scrapheap there and people call me that here or just Scrap for short.
Since you're a guy, I can't ask you to post your bewbs, so could you post some of your favorite porn instead?? :eyebrows:
-
Callaway, yeah, that was really sucky, but oh, well.
Grease Monkey, well, as per your request:
Of course, the act after that the dinner is the climax. :P
Seriously, I'm more into the vanilla type. Other extreme types are not my type.

Welcome to the cesspool.
-
Welcome. Hold on to your knickers, it's going to be one hell of a ride.
-
Thanks for the welcome, TheAnonymous and Queen Victoria.
Right on!!!
-
I like your sigline id*. My parents are with the Patriot Guard Riders who show up at funerals of military members and others victimized by the loathsome Westboro Baptist fuck heads to shield the families from the fucks. I would like it if someone just killed the WBC scum.
*We'll sort out who gets to be ego and superego later.

Thanks, PPK. I salute your parents for being heroes themselves and standing up to those bigots. Seriously, the "God Hates Fags" group are a bunch of inbred nutjobs. They just hate pretty much everyone, including those who have nothing to do with them.
*We'll sort out who gets to be ego and superego later.

For some reason I fancy myself some sushi now..
(om nom nom nom)
:autism:

Hahaha! I just so loved it when people bash the God Hates Fags group. Wonder, though, if TWMNBN gets bashed by us as well in the same way we bash God Hates Fags.
-

I don't waste a whole lot of time worrying about either group although I detest both.
-
Grease Monkey, well, personally, the nude sushi girl with the fake boobs doesn't really appeal to me at all. She looked like a dead bitch there. :P
PPK, I agree. Thinking about them and their ridiculous shit just gives me a meltdown. Thank God for your parents and their fellow crusaders, though.

Miko Lee, I think.
-
TID, what languages interest you the most?
-
Renaeden, English is actually my first language, Filipino my second. I can read Arabic, Korean, and Russian characters, but I am still trying to learn them as of this moment.
-
I do wonder what your accent is like in English then. :) I think that Arabic looks very difficult.
-
I can teach you some Arabic.
Know what "sharmouta" means?
-
Renaeden, My English accent is Standard American. Got it from my speech therapist, and was enriched during my time in the call center industry.
Calavera, not that I know what it means. I know of basic Arabic greetings, names of cities, and whatnot. My dad works in Saudi Arabia, and I have stayed there for quite a while, and I learned most of the Arabic I knew from dad.
-
I have no idea. Is it rude? :D
-
Renaeden, English is actually my first language, Filipino my second.
You should move to California, there's large Filipino communities throughout the state.
At my last job, about 1/4-1/3 of the people who worked there were Filipino.
Besides, we don't have any large volcanos that are in danger of massive eruptions any time soon.
-
Grease Monkey, I'd love to migrate there, but given my finances, seems it'd take quite a while. Besides, we used to live in Saddle Brook, NJ as a kid, but had to move back here after two years.
-
I have no idea. Is it rude? :D
It's the first word every person wanting to learn Arabic should know.
And yes, it's rude. :autism:
-
Helpful is your middle name, Calavera.
-
Hey welcome. Who are you in WP? I don't recognize your username.
I am League Girl on WP.
-
Helpful is your middle name, Calavera.
I try my best. :cbc:
-
Oddball, I use the same username in WP. It's theimperiousdork. ;) Pleased to meet you!
-
Have you been affected by any of the floods/storms in the Phillipines I'm reading about on Al Jazeera atm? :orly:
-
Sister O'Madness, the storm struck the southern part of the Philippines. Thank God we're in the northern part of it, so apart from a few rains, we were spared. Besides, our community was planned to prevent any flooding.
-
The Phillipines are somewhat prone to natural disasters. Earthquakes, volcanoes and typhoons.

From what I have read so far....i like the cut if your jib.
My question is, what is a jib?
-
McMorrison, if you're asking me, I'd interpret "cut of my jib" as my disposition. As for the word "jib," are you referring to the nautical jib, the bodily jib, or jib as a verb?
-
It. Is an American saying.
I know that it means you like someone.
I always wondered what a jib was or the sayings origin.
Thought you could help.
-
McMorisson, I've looked upon that definition, and it has something to do with nautical stuff. I've read that a jib is a sail on the bow of a ship, and people used to judge a ship by its jib.
Hope it helps a bit. BTW, thanks for the compliment. ;)
-
I guess it means that you have crisp edges a and catch the wind?
-
I guess it means that you have crisp edges a and catch the wind?
A little more info: I like the cut of your jib used to characterise the way a person looks, sailors would recognise the nationality of other ships by the shape of the triangular forsesail (or Jib).
-
Recognize differences and likes?
-

One of the coolest avatars, EVER!!
-
How disappointing. Thought this person was back.
-
What made you think that?
-
Saw the thread in unread post list; recognized the name from sending them PM messages. Thought maybe one of my messages had worked.
-
Damn I missed this one somehow, they seemed pretty cool.
Seconded on the avatar.
