Unlike millions of Americans who are losers, I'm going to watch the eclipse, in its totality, from my back patio. :M
Oh, and I'm not buying those stupid solar eclipse glasses either, I'm using my welding helmet. :M :M :M
-
It's my birthday, there's a solar eclipse and I really don't give a flying flip.
-
My area was very close to the 100% totality area, so it got kinda dark here. Kinda like wearing sunglasses outside. 8)
-
I had to run an unexpected errand during the height of the eclipse. It was as if the sun had gentled itself.
-
We only got 70% totality but we borrowed my neighbours glass inserts from his welders helmet and were able to see it. 8)
-
Where I live, it didn't even get dark. :'( I did get a few looks at the eclipse though. 8)

Experienced an eclipse years ago when I worked at the mushroom farm. It got pretty dark and I was able to see it like Pappy - through a welding mask. Other people used a piece of paper with a hole cut in it to watch the shadow of the eclipse on the ground.
-
The most interesting view was of the ground. The light in the tree shadows were crescents, like this:

That's a beautiful picture
-
It's not mine; didn't get a photo today.
-
I was far enough away that the sun didn't dim, but I saw the crescent on a piece of paper. All the geeks from work were clustered out in the parking lot with their cell phones, trying to get pictures.

Now I want a welding helmet. :orly:

That really is the most amazing eclipse picture i ever saw!
Now I'm wondering how that works?
Nice find, Jack :) i'm having to pull my dumb finger back from that "plus" button again
-
I actually noticed the crescents that the tree shadows had while walking home from the soup kitchen yesterday!
-

The leaves work as a filter, the same way as those boxes with the hole in it.

Didn't realize that occurred, so it was a happenchance thing for me to notice too.
-
My part of the country was supposed to get 64% ... whatever, loss of light I guess. Couldn't see it.
It looked like an ordinary, hazy, slightly overcast day to me. I was disappointed. Can I sue? :P
-
That photo is awesome.

Awesome, a camera obscura effect like that.
