Been awhile since I voted. I remember the curtained booth when I was a kid and for quite awhile when I was old enough to finally vote...then it became more of a cubicle...now it just sucks.
Local place is an old schoolhouse, they have electronic books on what resembles a music stand, the stands are in a semi circle in the classroom and all facing out so anyone walking in the door can basically see the screen. :zombiefuck:
Is this the norm now? I would have thought they would at least have the screens facing the walls. :dunno:

Ours are paper and pencil in tiny booths so no one else can see.

We have the old style bulky curtained machines for the actual election. Votes are tabulated on a computer cartridge, no internet connection. Printouts are made of the results for the parish and are carried in an envelope to the courthouse with the computer cartridge. The second printout is mailed to the state (can't remember what office offhand) after the close of the polls, probably from a postal box near the courthouse. The third set of printouts are posted on the door to the precinct for 48 hours.
For early voting, computer screens are used. There are giant wings(?) that shield the screen from passers-by. Not totally sure how the results are handled with early voting since I wasn't involved in that aspect, merely processing the voters.

Our booths are made of cardboard. I think they get recycled.

:trump: Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain! I'm the new fucking President!

We have had those awful music stand things for awhile now, they look and feel so cheap. The handicap one almost fell apart on the lady using it while I was there she was rather pissed. You also have to bring the paper ballot over to a reader and put it in I don't have a lot of faith in the things. I miss the giant mechanical beasts they used to have with all the levers and the curtain. Pretty sure they scrapped them all I would have loved to get one.
