do your friends or family call you anything other than your real name?
my friends call me bob-oh.
they call me this because when i first moved out i moved in with a couple of friends. and i was always in my room with a girl. and all they could hear was, "oh bob, oh bob-oooooh."
-
Rye, Ryjan, Roy from Coronation Street, and some other derogative names referring to my hair colour.
-
pea, when you get angry do they call you ginger snapper?
-
pea, when you get angry do they call you ginger snapper?
I rarely get angry in public (except online), so no.
-
My brother who just died sometimes called me Lise and I called him Chrissy. We called our little brother Jim-Jim, but he did not like that name too much after he grew up.
-

Yes I got those names too.
Stupid people.
-

You know I kid. God help the world and me if I was not. If I misbehave I have a feeling something terrible will happen to me, that is why I decide to add behavior adjustments to my training to be a model. I don't care if I never get choose, I train the the peak! I am bound to get some attention, and when I do I will help millons.
-
try helping yourself first, flo.

do your friends or family call you anything other than your real name?
Every last single person I have ever known in my entire life has called me "Branting". I don't know what it is about my last name that makes it so alluring for people to use instead of my first one. Maybe it just sounds funny? Online, most people usually call me "zer0". Probably because that's the pseudonym I draw under.
-
I was called Rocky, because of my enthusiasm for boxing in my early years. No, not like in the movies, because it was a decade before Stallone got famous when I started boxing at the boys club.
My dad was a huge Marciano fan.
-
In Jr. High, I was given the nickname "Ubon" because people said I was a 50/50 cross between two other guys "Uba" and Dion.
When I went as a foreign exchange student to Germany , they thought the name was cool because it sounds like U-bahn, the German word for subway. 8)

Same. I had to fight pretty hard to
keep from being called other things.

Rye, Ryjan, Roy from Coronation Street, and some other derogative names referring to my hair colour.
at least they didn't call you paddy from emmerdale.
-
Big Al by neighbors, and annoying people at school (none of which picked on me). I thought that was a sarcastic thing about my size even though the people who called me that weren't really much bigger than me haha. I am 5 foot 9, and used to not weigh more than 140 back when people called me that (now 160-170 lbs).
ARod by some people at a fucking borderline criminal Christian drug rehab I went to, no clue about what they meant by that as I suck at baseball. Bunch of people there just to avoid prison sentences or being sent back to prison. They were all pretty damn nice to me though overall, despite the prison/work camp type of place it was. Everyone there got in at least a couple fights.
Verbal because of Usual Suspects and probably because of my vocabulary (shy nature makes me unassuming though), I was the last person you would suspect said my big brother (said I was Kaiser Sose lol). That had to do with me behind the scenes planning drunken debauchery for the fraternity I think and maybe to do with my propensity to light things on fire and blow shit up back then. We had the fire department called on us many times, once because the fire in our pit was high enough to hit the electrical wires coming off the second story of our house haha.

Maybe because your name is Alex?

Yeah they could just call me Alex, my last name isn't Rodriguez or anything close to that. They had a weird secret meaning behind most people's nicknames there. There were some fucked individuals there.
I also was called Mangled by my friend's Tom and Doug in Highschool at one time. More of a bong hit/FPS gaming inside joke thing. I was Lord Mangled on our metal zine called The Blasphemer, in which I did strip club reviews and CD reviews (also on my horrible website haha). Mangled_C and several variations on MIRC.
-
i love Usual Suspects.

heh prolly not but..... im also called cokebottle cause i was dumb enough to stick my tongue (and tongue ring) into the lip of a 3-liter coke bottle and of course it got stuck...
i freaked out for a sec but had the sense to calmly walk over to the tool box, get some stuff and phsically cut the coke bottle from my face

Everyone except my family call me Vodka.

- No thanks, I'd prefer a beer.

Here's some that I was called in school......
Retard, Igor, Grape Ape, Duh Shawn, Spacecase, Spazz, Punk Rock, (in the early 80's being into Punk music was cause enough for ridicule) Drifter, (Or 'Driftah' ,as it's pronounced in Maine, ) .
...I hated them all as they were not my given name, which only caused them to use it even more. FWIW, there was also a short kid with very thick glasses that I went to school with who I now realise probably had Aspergers, who was called 'Cylon' on the account that he could not make eye contact, and spoke in a mumbling monotone that was worse than mine. --He seemed ok with me, after we got high togeather a few times.
-
getting high with someone is a great way to get to know them.
-
Pretty much everyone but my mother calls me Josie, which is a nickname for my given name. That's about it, other than my online nicks.
-

Quoted for truth. Has worked for me many times.
-
In college I was Mr Sluggo or the slug because of my flexibility they said I had no bones

Yeah, I'v had nicknames, but, you'll never know them. Except for "li'l richards" calling me a FAGGOT! He's such a douche bag.................and my apologies to all the douchebags out there. You really don't deserve to be associated with "li'l richard".

In Australia everyone seems to get their name shortened or if their last name is Smith, they become Smithie for example.
I like being called by my nicknames and I often make them up for people without realising it.
-
The only nicknames I have had was Kevie or Kev.
-

The name Kevin, reminds me of Lemon Butter...or Lemon Spread as I call it...
Sounds like a lesbian delight, doesn't it!
-
Only AFTER you mentioned it, you dirty girl!
-
Only AFTER you mentioned it, you dirty girl!
Hey, we call Lemon Butter Lemon Spread in Australia.
Well, the oldies do, because that's what it used to be called.
Since when has 'spread' been a dirty word?
....oh, it sounds so dirty!
-
Ah, because I like the idea of rubbing the
sweet little girls on my toast.

Not sure I want to be reminded of lesbian delight.(http://content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/000200DA.gif)

I still call Kayleigh GA from time to time.
-
Yes. I post under it.
Known under other names as well elsewhere, such as my clan.chem alt, but buggered if I'm posting THAT anywhere but the fora it is active on. I do NOT want it leading back to me here. There is too much...well too many questions asked, too many I've answered and too many comittal pictures of reactions, unlike what I post here, which I will always be a little discreet at least, and especially if its something posted in public. Those are, well they just don't need to lead back to meatspace in any way. But my alt has a nickname that is used informally.
Also known as 'stat, although it needs little explaining what thats short for.
-
Tripod. :M

When I was in army cadets, someone came up with Rusty for me (because I had red hair) and it stuck even though I didn't want it to.
If people give you a nickname, does that mean they like you? If it spreads and everyone uses it, does that mean you're popular?

It means that they're thinking of you, good or bad. :P

After Hurricane Katrina we realized we had to put The PR into school (I had been homeschooling her because I wasn't happy with the social interactions in the public schools.) Since we didn't know which one of us would get a job (although I was drawing retirement from the state) that seemed to be the best solution. We put her in public school for about 2 months. I was not happy that her lunch time was spent in a classroom with only a male teacher. I happened to see a friend with a handicapped daughter who told me the Catholic school for exceptional students was open and had openings. I called the next day and made arrangements to enroll her there.
Since the school drew from many areas I realized this would be a brand new start with mostly brand new friends. So I told her to pick a nickname she'd like to be known as. Her prompt response was NELLIE. And that is how my Eleanor got her nickname.
-
Nellie is a cool name. And she still uses it now?
Lunch with only a male teacher, that would make me nervous.
On Facebook I use a shortened version of my name. I go by it at the Salvos too, where I have it on a name badge.
