Are you racist? Don't lie to try and be PC. Just be honest.
Please post details. I am interested in peoples views on this subject.
-
Wasn't when young. Thought only the really
ignorant were. But, after moving to Buffalo,
and experiencing the racism directed against whites,
as well as interacting more with the street life,
I became more so - expecting trouble from
gangs of young blacks, and even going so
far as to feel some real anger in general.
A couple of physical attacks, and being burgled
can go a long way to defeating naive good will.
-
I try to take individuals on a person by person basis and not prejudge, but life experiences have proved thusfar that I must keep an eye out unfortunately. I might be more prejudiced really than racist. This isn't a constant thing though.
-
I enjoy racist humor.
-
No, but I'm not PC about it. I loathe the effect of PC, which has been to create lobbying minority groups with a sense of special fucking entitlement, a fear of offending people and being accused of racism, and not being even handed with resources - that just leads to resentment. There *are* cultural behaviours common in certain groups in society which annoy the living shit out of me - like the tendency for gaggles of middle-aged Pakistani women to block aisles in order to bulk buy cheap stuff, miraculously losing the ability to understand English when requested to fucking shift it, for example, and the predatory attitude towards white girls shown by *some* young muslim men in my community (which the evil BNP cunts exploited to inflame racial tensions in the town). These seem to be balanced by equally annoying and antisocial behaviours in 'indigenous' groups though - I'm an equal opportunity misanthrope. I tend to judge people by apparent attitude rather than simply colour - the similarities between white, black and asian street gangs are much more noticeable than the differences, and ignorant cunts are ignorant cunts regardless of origin. So I'm cautious rather than prejudiced I'd say. The major difference I have noticed is that the Pakistani communities have a more collective outlook - i.e. they help each other out as a matter of course and support each other in a way that many English communities don't any more cos everyone's got so fucking selfish. I've been on the receiving end of this cultural genorosity a number of times myself - if I'm gonna have car trouble or summat I usually hope to fuck its in a fairly Asian area, cos someone WILL help. A (white) family friend lost her daughter in an accident and her Asian neighbours consoled her, offering support, bringing food round etc. You can't hate people who do things like that just cos they're different to you.
On top of which, I'm mixed race, so hating based on skin colour would be pretty illogical. Not that that seemed to stop my grandad, who was like a Black/Irish Alf Garnett. The irony was fucking hilarious.
-
I only post racial epithets online to wind people up, but I don't think that makes me a racist person. I don't go out of my way to dehumanise people based on their skin. Besides, the term "race" is subjective. We are all of the same species called homo sapiens. The earliest ancestors of the human race were black, so it's no-one's place to demean those who are of the same species as us.
The sooner we give up notions of race, the better our world will be methinks.
-
No.
But i dont like nigras or joos.
-
Nah, just religionist :P
-
Nah, just religionist :P
I think religion's a waste of space as well. What they can never admit is that science is the apotheosis of humanity, not some guy in a priest's attire reciting the same fairy tales over and over again.
-

Exactly, though discrimination on the grounds of religion seems to get mistaken for racism these days.
-
i'm with Pea, we're all one race in the end, it's too mixed up to make any real lines between people. it's more about culture and religion.
i think all races have something unique, physically... i'm fascinated with how people look, different races and stuff. can't say i've ever seen a race that didn't have a unique beauty about it, lookwise.
i would need a definition of racism before i could really say if i'm racist or not.
-

I don't see the difference, at a fundamental level.

Not too fond of Innuits, to tell the truth.
Looks wise.
-
I don't give a shit about a person's race. I'v seen an equal number of stupid black's AND whites, as well as a smattering of stupid asian's, jews and hispanic's. ::)
I'v also met a number of equally good people of various ethnic backgrounds. 8) They're the ones I prefer to focus on!
-
I don't like Pakistani shopkeepers; all the ones I've met have been rude, shifty buggers. There was one at a newsagents who we'd buy sweets from as kids, and he ripped people off all the time.
-
Q: What do you call a black priest?
A: Holly Shit! :green:

Only if you narrow things down to the point where you're clearly attacking just one or two religions. Condemn all fundamentalist theism equally, and you can't go wrong.
And no, I'm not racist. I think that humans of all colours are about equally stupid. Like Calandale, I've been ripped off by my share of people with dark skin. I've also been ripped off by trailer trash skinhead tweekers. One was no better than the other.
-

Knob. :minusevil:
-
I voted sometimes. Cognitively speaking, humans are prone to categorize things based on looks the the effect is only stronger when we look around at the people who share our space. I'm of the opinion, and I've seen this backed up with research, that everybody is a racist, on a certain level. The people who can consciously negate that effect are the people who are enlightened. Not the people who claim that bias doesn't exist.
-
Not too fond of Innuits, to tell the truth.

bastard. i'm loosely related to eskimos. :P

I agree. I have the same kind of aversion to
good old southern boys, for the same reason.
But, it is a prejudice. Doesn't mean I can't see
beyond it.
As one of my friends pointed out, "I'm not
bigoted against demons, some of my best
friends are demons."

Well, I THINK it's my opposition
to fat, and the thought (which may
be incorrect) that they tend towards
weight.
-
i've known some skinny lapplandians who come from the north. hella skinny. hella pretty.
some tubby eskimo was on Oprah. they eat whale fat. gross. but she was pleasant.
-

I'd probably have no problem with that.
And certainly have no objection to lapping
a Lapp.

Yeah, I can get along with fat people,
I just have an immediate negative reaction.
But, I'd like to try blubber.
-
i'd fuck blubber but i wouldn't eat it.
-

Erm.

I am prejudiced, but not racist. There is a difference. Do any of you actually believe one race is superior to another?
-
I am prejudiced, but not racist. There is a difference. Do any of you actually believe one race is superior to another?
???
Webster's:
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination
How does being prejudiced not fit definition #2?
-
Do any of you actually believe one race is superior to another?
Since I don't know what is good and what is not,
this would be impossible. But, there are differences,
which is clear. Physical certainly, and it wouldn't be
too great a stretch to presume mentally, as well;
though, mind you, there is NO way of proving the
latter today.
In fact, since the closest that I come to a definition
of good is based upon aesthetics, looks alone are
indeed sufficient to make that judgment.
My actual prejudices have more to do with the societal
issues, than with the genetic. Is this racist? Probably not.
But, the effect is the same.
-
GAWD!
I hope not. I despise racists!

I'd say prejudice is more common on a individual basis and can be seen as associating traits towards a person while racism is more of a collective notion the one race is superior to another.

I have had friends of many races, I just thought of them as good people.
I have been annoyed when people from another country speak their language very loudly on the bus for everyone to hear. That just seems rude to me more than anything else.
-
I've always took friends where ever I could find them as they were few and far between. I have seen enough idiots of all races to last me all my life already they are the ones I don't like.
Racist no but I just don't like people in general as a race dogs are better :P
-

I find it almost as bad, when they speak my language.
-
i don't care what race someone is really. i've had friends who were a different race.
-
As have I, but I don't think that prevents one
from being a racist.
-
probably not.
actually some of the worst people ive met when it comes to being racist/homophobic etc are the ones who have 'friends' who are a different race or sexuality or whatever
-
probably not.

Perhaps it's from having them as friends that these people come to realise that the stereotypes have truth in them, and that there are good reasons to be prejudiced against certain groups. I have Swedish friends who know from first-hand experience that the local Gypsies really do shoplift at the drop of a hat (they have some sort of pouch in those big skirts that they can drop things into), and that the Middle-Eastern, Russian and eastern European immigrants really do form violent criminal gangs (but they're friends with them, and are thus protected).

The DVLA sorted out some arrogant Hungarian neighbours today for not paying their car tax. Lmfao.
But anyways, continue.

probably not.

You know, this pisses me off more than the people who walk around with racial slurs dripping from their lips.
Collecting a few tokens for show is very offensive to me. The last place I worked did this, officially, to prove that they were a well diversified company. It is orders of magnitude worse if you are using a pretense of friendship to collect your tokens.

Well I'm Swedish and I say that my local Gypsies OWNS a shop (they always have a large sale :)), and Middle-Eastern immigrants are known for their big hearts and hospitality (I love going home to my Middle-Eastern friends!), the russians I know have a thing for drinking and making everyone laugh by telling bad jokes (And then they get laugh attacks which is almost impossible to stop!) and Eastern Europeans usually end up as goth and emo (nothing wrong with them really, well, at least not with the goth). Altough a few of them might be in gangs, I know more inbred Swedish guys that's in gangs.
-
I try to hate everyone equally, regardless of race or political/religious orientation.
-
I hate the human race
-
I hate the human race
Why be so limited?

I hate the human race
Welcome to the club of misanthropy!

I was teased a lot when I was younger for having red hair and pale skin. Is this a form of racism?

Perhaps it's because they live in one of Sweden's major slum areas that their experiences are less than stellar. They told me about an incident a while back where they saw a bunch of Syrians on motorbikes tasering a guy for fun, and they regarded it as normal.
-

If you have red hair and pale skin, you're a prime target for abuse. Though I wouldn't call it racism, just pettiness.
I remember hearing about a neighbourhood who picked on a family just because the children all have red hair. And guess what? It took place in Eng-er-land, as per usual.

I've lived on the countryside, I've lived in the city and I've lived in the slum, and I've never experienced something like that (just white people harassing immegrants and their bitches and gangfights.).

Stout swilling.

Now that is petty.
I have seen dark people picked on for their skin colour. And I was picked on for mine. When I was a kid it really sucked. Red hair, freckles, pale skin, glasses, short, autistic....no wonder I was picked on.
You can blame the fuckin' Irish for that Renaeden. Stout swilling feckless gobsheens the lot of them!!
Does this mean that Ireland is where red hair is from? Someone told me it is a Scottish trait and I have been asked if my parents are from Scotland. They aren't.
-
you're lucky. i'm naturally fricken tan it's annoying. there are no paling salons where i could go get rid of it, so i have to sit in front of a computer all day long and never go outside and even then i'm normal complexion, not pale.
-
I would love to be tanned. I am in the worst place in the world to have pale skin. I can burn in fifteen minutes in July!
I tried to tan myself when I was younger thinking it would work. Because of my stupidity, I am waiting for skin cancer.
Tanned skin looks clear, blemish free.
-
i need paleness for my goth look. :P
you should move to ireland. gentle weather.
-
i am pale apparently, but i prefer being pale
sophie was the same

Does this mean that Ireland is where red hair is from? Someone told me it is a Scottish trait and I have been asked if my parents are from Scotland. They aren't.
Today, red hair is most commonly found at the western fringes of Europe. It is associated particularly with those in Scotland, Ireland and Wales, and less so in England although there are pockets of red hair occurring in Cornwall and parts of the North Midlands and North East (particularly South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire). This matches the movement of the Brython tribe (native Britons, also known as Celts or Picts) as they were pushed out of England and into the Celtic regions by the Roman conquest of Britain, and also the pattern of Viking settlement in the North of England.
Scotland has the highest proportion of redheads in the world as 13 percent of the population has red hair and approximately 40 percent carries the recessive redhead gene.[6] Ireland has the second highest number of redheads worldwide; as many as 10 percent of the Irish population have ginger, auburn (red-brown) or strawberry blond hair.[7] It is thought that up to 46 percent of the Irish population carries the recessive redhead gene. Red hair reaches frequencies of up to 10 percent in Wales.[8] In England, the county of Cornwall, the far north, near the Scottish border, and the counties of Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire also have significant proportions of redheads

Thank you very much for that information Rupert! :plus:
My family can be traced back to Wales and Ireland.
-
My grandmother had red hair and he name was Claire. Her nickname was Eclair lol. Obviously she was on the Irish side of my family (my aunt Lorraine has red hair too).
-
There is a lot of red-headed Danes too!

I think it was the promise of seeing the D-licious tatas of Eclair that brought him back. Not so much the small of the back itself. He might have missed some other people as well.
McJ not being back would be disappointing in a way.

This is 2019 and literally EVERYONE is racist!! :GA:
-
Racist against what? Humans.
-
Give me an unashamed and blatant racist like Pappy any day, much preferable to all the "I'm not racist but..." twits.
I know I'm racist. I'm also (hopefully) less racist than most people who claim that they are not racist. I'm a work in progress.
-
Do not know why I can not vote.
-
Probably. I won't go into New Orleans if I can avoid it. But I don't have the same fear about blacks in Metairie.
-
I wish I was a mom but sometimes replace mom with human.

What's the definition of bias for avoiding people drunk on religion?
Antitheism?
Anti-religious?
Anti-Christian?
That's probably my issue...the more vocally religious/preaching they are, the more I want to run away. No hostility...I just find it mind numbing on the conversation scale.

An antitheist is opposed to religion and actively takes action or encourages others to take action against religion and the propagation of religion. Think Hitchens, Dawkins, Harris. I admire the intellect of Hitchens and Dawkins, even though I'm not really an antitheist.
There are also people like Neil deGrasse Tyson who don't actively oppose religion but still argue for a science-based view of the world vs. a religion-based view of the world. Tyson actually rejects the label of atheist because he doesn't want to be associated with the antitheists. I like this attitude. Educate people and let them find their own way to atheism or at least a less dogmatic attitude towards religion. Okay, he's a controversial character these days but that's a subject for elsewhere. Chomsky is another prominent atheist intellectual who doesn't see his primary role as arguing or fighting against religion.
It sounds like you are just "over" other people's stupid religions. I don't think there is a word for that yet. I'd be inclined to make one up.
-
Theisist
-
As a white person, I know that some people don't like white people. And I don't give a ****.
Because their racism doesn't stop me renting a house or apartment, doesn't stop me from getting a job, doesn't get me pulled up and strip searched at airports. Yada yada yada.
Poor white snowflakes who are butthurt because some indigenous person or immigrant doesn't like them... need to drink some cement.

Yes, valid point I didn't consider there. That is abhorrent, just as violence for being the wrong religion or the wrong sexual orientation is abhorrent.

My dad was beat up by white kids for having curly hair and was also beat up by brown skinned mixed race Lumbees for having light skin. It sucks to be mixed race.
