Title: Odd people you have known
Post by: Parts on October 29, 2009, 08:20:09 PM
I know most of us are a bi  odd but have you ever met anyone that was really out there even by your standards ?
I have met many I attract them I guess
I had a professor who collected road kill and brought the home and froze in his freezer with his food them till ha had a chance t make study skins out of them(stuff them).  After one class he asked if anyone wanted to see a coyote which were just coming back to our are.  It seems one was struck and killed by the fire dept near him and they all knew about his longing for road kill they called him.  He had it outside under a tarp by a tree. He showed us all and moved it around to let us have a good look when he noticed what he said was an odd looking tick.  He plucked it and wrapped it in his hankie and put it in his pocket to identify   latter :o
This is but one of many I have met how about you?

A guy that went into shops, to shake hands with the window dummies.

His friend checked on the gender of mosquitoes before he slapped them, only killing the females.

The female mosquito has a pointy drill on the head, more than a centimetre long, so when you look close, you can't miss it. That's whey they can be drawn like fighter jets in comics.

That is one of the better weird people stories I have heard.  :indeed:
I had a friend in the Navy who was weird and might have been on the spectrum to. He carried a book of quotations around and after we had smoked a bunch of hash he would rattle off an obscure quotation and challenge someone in the group "Who said that?". He was smart, intense and strange. When a bunch of us would be standing in front of Bar La Parada and a hot chick walked by someone would say "She has a nice rack" and Henry would respond "I'd like to beat off on her mug". Him saying that, and the look on other peoples faces, never failed to crack me up.

okay, here's my odd person story. I used to work in HR for a large tourist attraction in the US. One day I was in the front office and someone came in to fill out an application. No problem. There was a stack of them on a counter infront of my desk. He asked for a pen which I passed to him, and then while he's staring at me right in the eye, or rather looking through me, he takes an application and scribbles with the pen so hard that it's shredding the paper. Grabs another application, and does it again. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. So while he's staring at my I casually pick up the phone and dial the code for the police (we had our own police unit on the grounds) and they said to do what I could to keep thim there. So, I took his application and said he could have a seat and then one of my co-workers called him to the back for a fake interview. While he's pretending to interview, this guy starts to groan. And strain. And then there's this awful smell......the guy had shit his pants during the interview. Turns out he had escaped from the psych ward of a local hospital. :P That incident happened 13 years ago and I could still tell you his first and last name.

You guys have no idea. I could write a friggin book about the people I had to deal with. Here's another good one. It's a policy in that state that you can't hire someone who has been convicted of a midemeanor in the last 5 years or a felony in the past 10 years. Every application we process, I would run a criminal background check on. So this guy comes in, dressed in a nice suit, very well spoken. Applies for a management position at for the hotel/conference centre on the property. I interview him, great candidate, send him over to interview with the manager at the conference centre and it all goes swimmingly. So he comes back and I tell him I'll be running his background check and I'll be in touch

There is a part on the application where you can state if you've been convicted. He said he had no criminal history. I think most times people don't think we actually run them, but we do.

So I run his name through this system and then the printer starts going crazy. Pages upon pages of history on this guy. And when we get a hit on a criminal history, it's illegal to tell them over the phone. You must bring them back into the office and tell them in person. So it turns out that he had a whole laundry list of offenses, but the most interesting were 17 arrests for prostitution and 5 of them as a woman. But he's was wanted in 3 other states for sex offenses relating to his prostitution antics.

So the police had to call the FBI. The FBI call my office and they're going to set up a sting operation because they've been after this guy for months. Next thing you know it's like a fucking movie scene. Black Lincolns in the parking lots, the windows all blacked out. They pop open the trunk of one of the cars and it's a like a fucking candy store of arsenal. So we had it set up that the guy thought he was being called into a second interview at the conference centre. Meanwhile my little office was the FBI command post. And I will never forget the FBI guy who came in with his huge gun to tell me how it was all going to go down. He was built like you wouldn't believe and he was wearing a tight black t-shirt that said "I run with scissors"

we got word that the dude arrived for the interview, all the undercovers were in place, and then they took him down with a helluva lot of force. Blacked out lincolns all over the place. That day rocked. :green:

I had to pass a criminal background check including a fingerprint check to get my job as a special education paraprofessional, but of course I don't have a criminal background so there was no excitement like that for me, just going down to the police station to be fingerprinted.  They said that they sometimes arrest people on the spot if their fingerprints get any hits, though.

I think that's sad. For anyone to be so badly off as to crap their pants. An inpatient breaking out, goes to an interview. Like somehow striving for a life they used to have...

Mjeh. Just didn't strike me as funny. Must be my hormones. :P

Well you can all feel relieved that we kept him in the office and went through with the fake interview because as it turns out he was in the psych ward for not being competant to stand trial for murder. He was prone to violent psychosis episodes and they said I was lucky I wasn't attacked. :P I'd rather him rip the hell out of my applications than me. ;)

I used to know this autistic guy in junior high. I weas in the special ed class with him. He would keep track and
record peoples spills. He would write what kind of spill, who spilled it and what time it was spilled. He did this for months and
had massive stacks of paper and filled notebooks. We all thought it was funny so we purposely spilled things all the time when he was around.
He said he decided to count spills because his mom had bird poo down her shirt and he called that one spill number one.
He would update on his progress. He would get all exited and go "I got five thousand eight-hundered-and nintry-nine spills now!"

It was great though I love the abstract humour auties and aspies produce. You should see chucki and I.

Yeah most of my friends were pretty odd. I say were because the town I live in now is pretty much bleached free of anyone who isn't a conformist. Who knows who I'll befriend when I leave. Maybe I've turned conformist.

There's a very odd and creepy guy in college (turns out he also has Aspergers, was home schooled) who walks around during lunchtime and stares at people, pets stranger's heads and read their newspapers. Straight away you'd think he had some form of autism (proved to be AS as I said earlier), looking really odd in general. Doesn't wash himself, wears his trousers back to front. According to several people, he loves to talk about bodies and autopsies, watched them all his life as a kid. He has an American accent even though he's really German. He has a certain "school shooter" look to him, I'm sure if someone pisses him off too much he'll kill us all... and people do take the piss out of him. Several times he has almost snapped, shouting at people, trying to strangle himself with a mouse cable, shouting "IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!" while throwing his briefcase all over the place and so on.

It is odd, people there used to think I'm some creepy serial killer yet this guy makes me look fucking normal. Oh well. :zoinks:

My brother had to take Schizophrenics into custody on occassion when he was working as a city cop. He was told by a mental health professional that Schizophrenics will often soil themselves to reduce interaction with other people. That is a horrid condition.

That's typical among teenage boys. My son is the same. It's not even on his radar and he's a kid who loves to be clean. He's big on handwashing, although I can't complain about that. Especially during flu season

Still Have To Do:

* Interlocking brick (straight in/out replacement)
* All of the tiling on the main floor (which is the front foyer, powder room, laundry room and kitchen)
* Replace the kitchen
* New oven and fridge
* Add an elevator (Mum is disabled and can't do that many stairs. It has to go from the basement to the third floor)
* Gut the basement and add a media/games room and exercise room Get rid of the sauna.
* Gut the master bath
* Minor cosmetic changes in the main bathroom and the guest bathroom
* Finish the laundry room (nearly done)

We have an awesome contact. An old Italian guy who does our landscaping. He's a general contractor and everyone he's reccommended to us thus far has been awesome. So we're going to have him oversee everything. We've been working with him for 4 years, we pay him in cash, and he's very, very good to us. ;)

Actually, the guy who installed inground sprinkler was Polski. Our roofer was from Albania and he was awesome. He and his wife said that if I would come to their country for a visit, they would pay for everything, including airfare and I would be their guests. They were soooo sweet! He ended up doing a lot of work for us and I want to hire him again (not because of the trip invite :P ) but because he was far better in his workmanship and deadlines than anyone else. He's a best friend of the Italian landscaper guy. Every time there's work being done on my house, it's overrun with 65+ year old men. I love it.

An elevator   :o

Yeah, originally I was going to renovate enough to get me by (I'm already going to make money on what I bought it for) and move to a smaller bungalow. But I love my neighbours and my location. I'm 20 mins from downtown Toronto, but far enough away from the chaos, protests and high crime. The house is too big for my taste, but excellent for the kids, and their friends etc. So then my dad suggested looking into get an elevator installed (if I don't, my Mum won't be able to visit) and if I can make it work, I would rather do that so the house is disabed friendly (excellent bonus when selling down the road) and then I can stay. I think I will love it more when it's renovated and decorated to my tastes.

Then it truly becomes my own.

this thread is funny but why all the poo? i mean why are crazy people always dirty?
My brother had to take Schizophrenics into custody on occassion when he was working as a city cop. He was told by a mental health professional that Schizophrenics will often soil themselves to reduce interaction with other people. That is a horrid condition.

uhh, wha? to reduce interaction? why not just say i'm busy call me later? wtf!

when i was a teenager i wouldn't bother getting a shower till my mum told me to

That's typical among teenage boys. My son is the same. It's not even on his radar and he's a kid who loves to be clean. He's big on handwashing, although I can't complain about that. Especially during flu season

My teenager is the same. It's the Adolescent Syndrome. :zoinks:

Back to the OT, I mentioned in my introductory post and my signature that I like trains, a lot.  What might be surprising is that there are people who like trains so much more than I do, to the extent that it's almost weird.  There was one guy I met by the tracks who had retired 10 years earlier and spent no less than 15 hours a day 7 days a week near the tracks watching the trains.  Look at any boxcar and you'll see that it has an identification number on the lower left side, he could tell you from his notes every time that boxcar had passed his favorite location.  This guy never worked for a railroad, yet knew more about the railroads than some engineers who had worked for the railroad for 30+ years.

Then there was another guy who would always show up at the amtrak station I used to hang out at to watch trains wearing sweat-shorts and a T-shirt.  It could be 12 below in the middle of a snow storm with -40 wind chills, here's this guy, standing next to his car, shivering.  I'd always say "why don't you just sit in your car, or at least wear a jacket and real pants, but he'd always give me some excuse like that apparently women prefer overweight men who dress in tight clothing and shorts in the winter.

Come to think of it, the vast majority of odd people I've met tend to be involved in railroads in some way.

Every Tuesday I catch the 7:42am bus and there's always this old guy on there. He wears the same shirt and shorts every time I see him. He asks me where I'm going every time I see him and my answer is always the same. He gets off the bus at the shops and says, "You have a good day!" I wish him the same. He's a bit weird but at least he doesn't smell.

I grew up entirely in special schooling after getting kicked out of my first primary school then part-time attendance at the second. When it came to the next, and first secondary school, that one was for Kanner's auties and some people with MR, and when I outgrew that one to an aspie-centered boarding school (entirely spesh, just mainly aspie :/)

Felt at once more at home than mainstream by far , and yet at the same time far more out of place than at the classic school. So I've seen plenty of weird.

One girl, about 19yo, that I was dating at one time, really, really really exceptionally tall, slim, quite gorgeous really, nice girl, she was caring and loving, but being both classically autie and towards the moderately MR range of MR, she didn't have a clue about predicting other's intent. Would have been very vulnerable if it had been someone exploitative she'd got with, rather than me, and didn't have a clue that, after we went out to dinner at the trafford center, I wasn't loaded at  the time, so had just enough money to get there and back, and for her dinner. Didn't seem to realize I'd be hungry, although I didn't mind, since I got to spend a lot of time with her, which was worth going without food for the day a hundred times over. Spent all day with one another's arms wrapped round her waist and her's around mine, even going up the stairs, we together must have made somewhat of a nuisance of ourselves, because neither of us would part for anybody or anything.

And during her eating, whilst I just, if I had anything, had a drink, whilst she ate, suddenly, she just comes out with it, and tells me she wanted my fingers inside her under the table in this cafe/restaurant we'd picked for her to eat at. Just, had been talking a bit about all sorts of stuff, not talking an awful lot, just, snippets of conversation flitting back and forth and all of a sudden she tells me to finger-fuck her while she eats. Right then and there under the table and starts to move my hands up the inside of her thigh and stick one of them down her pants, asking me to start rubbing her down there and tickling inside of her.

I was NOT expecting THAT. She'd gone straight from kissing, occasionally biting my lip gently and being arm in arm to being fingers in muff, quietly moaning as I got her off. She was....different, just generally. You could tell, she looked physically as normal as anyone else, save for her stature, head and shoulders above me, and her being built like a guitar string on the horizontal axis, quite small, perky and really cute boobs, but her waist/torso otherwise, again, almost as if she'd been stretched, as she had the long, long arms and long legs to match.

And with her starting to play about with me as I got her off...jesus H, to say that came as a surprise, in general, the whole thing I mean, doesn't even begin to cover things. She didn't ask, she just started feeling me up. I was just slightly uneasy not in a bad way, really, not uncomfortable but I couldn't help but wonder if anyone was going to hear her moaning, in a spesh-sounding way, whilst I at one point had a finger tickling the outside and gently pushing up inside her cervix, because the place was packed (I mean the place that served food and employed staff who wore uniforms and name tags; at least for the most part)

I thought someone couldn't help but hear her and figure out what was happening under the table we were sat at. Perhaps she did realize I was hungry and wanted to make up for it, but she didn't say that, and I'd, knowing her, have expected that if that were the case, she'd tell me that was her reason. And I am very unsure as to if I'd have done it then, unless she insisted determinedly, because I wouldn't have wanted to be doing it as, almost payment. Pretty sure she wasn't thinking that way, but I couldn't ask her either, because if she didn't realize I was hungry (for food, at least to begin with, I pretty damn quickly forgot all about food) because if she didn't then I might have made her feel either bad or obliged to buy me something. And she WAS horny as hell, definitely enjoying herself. Whilst eating a bowl of noodles.

And my ex fiancee, the young one of the two. The flaming fucking hot one that really didn't beat around the bush, going directly from wherever she was to getting what she decided she was going to have. Me, for one. Someone suffered steel toe-caps in the knees and possibly groin for being in the way and trying to talk to her whilst she was, unknown to me at the time, on her way to pounce on me like the lil' tiger she was.

She was a HUGE trekkie, and wrote some REALLY pervy, kinky fan-fic stuff. Some stuff between deanna troy and Riker, that you wouldn't fucking believe a girl of her age would even have been aware existed.  Had to say no (although I wanted to, its just I'd have got arrested or beaten the shit out of if there had been witnesses or caught on camera) but she wanted to have me get her off whilst we were sat together waiting for a train, right there in public. I'd have done it, if it wasn't for the fact we had to keep that kind of thing our mutual secret, although her mom knew we were in a committed relationship, and must have realized that far from exploiting her, I'd have given my life for hers if that were a situation ever arisen. She was I think, uncertain about me and definitely shocked to see me coming in on C's arm and introducing myself as her BF, and then fiancee. Especially when I was wearing my leather and metal spiked dog collar for C, leathers, combat pants, newrock goth-metalhead boots and piercings in my face, tattoo etc., But she didn't ever actually try to interfere with our relationship. Not impossibly out of fear of those steel toe capped boots of C's but whatever the reason, she must have realized that I was HER's (her daughter's that is) through and through, to the last breath, without question, devoted utterly to her. Godsdamned, I still miss her every fucking day. Its been  12-13 years now since we parted and due to unfortunate circumstances happening all at once I lost the means to contact her. I don't think I've gone one day without aching inside, for the part of me thats missing. I'd give almost anything to have her back, soul-mates are very few and far between, and that, she most certainly was. I still want her back. Going to try and track her down through the group I met her at, an auie-aspie social/partying group basically. Once I've fixed a few things about me first, I'm going to do my best to track her down and try get her back. Because shes the one who I should have gotten the ring I'd got for  her on her finger,  had a family with and grown old with.

Both my ex's were odd.

The first one had really strange thoughts so he had weird phobias like identity theft so he would call his bank every twenty minutes to make sure his money was still in there. We lived in the country and he was worried about someone coming in my house and taking stuff so I always locked the door. He thought I wanted him to cross the highway to get to the gas station from the store when in fact they were both on the same side of the highway. He had some conspiracy thoughts like people who disappear the government is behind it because he secretly pays someone to kill them. He believed his ancestors were these warriors back in the medieval days. He also thought he was very smart and a genius when he fact he didn't seem very bright at all because of his cognitive memory issues like he told me he wouldn't remember how to get to work (Mcdonalds) even though it's on the side of the highway and you can't miss it and he still insisted he wouldn't remember how to get there so I have to take him there everyday for work and telling me how he can't remember how to do things he is taught unless he does it 30 days straight. He also claimed whenever he has something on is mind he has to do it now or he will forget but yet he couldn't be bothered to write things down he wanted to do and leave it at his computer for him to see it so he remembers. He also believed his trench coat was who he is and saw it as him but yet would complain about people judging him because of that coat when all they did was felt uncomfortable around him or it would be 90 degrees out and he is wearing it and he would smell of body odor because he was wearing that thing so people would move away from him to get away from the smell. Turns out he was a paranoid schizophrenic so the other stuff he has done I can't figure out if he was an asshole or really that stupid.  I can't be arsed to write it all out.

My other ex, he was the most willfull ignorant and closed minded guy I had ever met. Not something I would want my future children exposed to and learned to be hateful and judgmental about everything in life and make everything personal. He had some harmless quirks like eating a milkshake with a spoon instead of a straw or the need to eat exclusive organic foods.

I had an English teacher who was so black and white about homework being turned in by its due date and you could be dying or having a surgery and that work assignment is still due. I just turned my work in whenever I was done with it and didn't wait for the due date. Problem solved. I don't think she was on the spectrum. Just someone who got tired of excuses of late assignments so she got this strict.

I had a history teacher who wasn't able to learn facts so she always got them wrong in class and I corrected the shit out of her every time she would contradict a fact I had learned. I find out years later this drove her crazy and she hated it and my aide had enabled it because she was there when I did it and she did nothing about it. None of the students seemed to have a problem with it either. But it got her to go over her facts before teaching every time.

I had a student teacher who would always lose our school work and mark it as a missing assignment and never admitted she had lost them. Meltdowns from me and me saying I want to throw her over a cliff and kill her because I didn't like doing it all over again. My mother and I started making copies of my homework every time I would finish it and that took care of the problem. I wonder now if she had some sort of disorder because she couldn't be organized and she didn't know how to keep her audience and she would over explain work assignments so kids would get bored and toss things at each other or get out of their seats or make faces.

I had a 5th grade teacher who had furniture in his classroom and had table clothes on tables with a plant in the center and instead of writing on the board or on the overhead, he typed on his computer (he had bad handwriting) and he used this light thing that would show the computer monitor on the board and he would have half of the lights turned off in class. it wouldn't surprise me if he was also on the spectrum or at least had symptoms because he had an autistic son. But he knew how to keep his audience and he had each table assigned so he would have like one table sits in the furniture in the back for a week and then the following week, it would be another tables turn and he also had this big teacher desk and he would assign each student sitting there for one day and he had a lamp hanging above it. He also had his own TV set so we didn't need to use the school's TVs.

I had a choir teacher who was so passive aggressive she would bully her students one at a time so no one would notice. I didn't know about this until she did it to my brother and then everything clicked. I knew some kids had problems with her and I would sometimes hear kids say bad things about her and now I know why. She lost big respect from me. Now I think she might have done it to me subtly and I didn't notice because she was so nice and sweet I would never guess she would make mistakes intentionally by "forgetting." But she didn't do it to me all the time when she would "forget."

And there have been plenty of odd people I have seen on the train and it gets very interesting:

One time on the light rail here in 2009, some man threatened to kill himself if he didn't eat some food all because no one was giving him money. That got a negative reaction out of people and I overheard someone calling him pathetic and he got chewed out by a young woman sitting across from me diagonally saying he just wants drugs. There was also a lady on that same train who claimed cell phones and laptops messed with her brain and was grumbling about people using them on that train. Then she shrieks "Turn off that computer now" at me.

There was one mad at a train stop and he gets upset that no one would let him use their cell phone to call his girlfriend so he starts talking about how someday the whole world will blow up and he will be the only one alive.

One time on the way to work, some man taps a young woman on her shoulder to ask her if this was her bus pass she dropped but instead she starts chewing him out for tapping on her shoulder saying how rude it is and she goes on and on about it after the man had walked away and sat down. She goes on and on about it being a broken record I finally got up and moved to the other side of the cabin because I got tired of listening to her drama. Luckily she got off at the transit center.

One time at the train stop right by my work, there was a woman sitting on the bench there ranting about homosexuals being all homophobic. I had to hold back telling her to shut the fuck up. I was so glad when my train came to get away from that shit and it was very hard not looking at her. My ex was also a homophobic.

And I have ran into strangers who seem to find it okay to talk to me about their life drama and I am trying to play my game or read and they don't seem to get that cue.

There was once a man riding on a train and he was talking to himself and another person sitting close to me told me he thinks he high on drugs while I thought he was a schizophrenic.

I suspect all these people had mental issues.
