Ok, here goes nothing. Now I love music and my tastes are eclectic, classical, pop, rock, new age, jazz, folk and even country. However, some tunes are either over played to death, insipid, vacuous, puerile and just plain monotonous weenie songs. Now my caveat in starting this thread is this, to quote Dave Barry...."musical tastes are very subjective."
This is my first contribution. I first heard it at an old job, where they played a local country POP station. The kind of station that plays insipid, vacuous tunes about lost loves, trucks, dogs, getting drunk, loving my rifle rack type of crap. And this tune came on every hour on the hour like clock work. I hate this tune, as it sounds like the dude she's moaning about, definitely did better.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNJwu-YkQlc
And I still hear it today, though not as often, Praise Cthulhu!
-
And one more before I go have some wine. This is definitely brain worm materiel. Another one that some stations love to play and the "store radio dj's" just love to love. I started carrying earplugs at work just because of this tune. I did hear that this "band" no longer exists. But, this vomitrocious piece of merde lives on!

^^ I actually kinda liked that one back in the day.
It had just come out and was being played on the radio a lot when my squadron went on a deployment to Yuma MCAS.
It was part of the soundtrack for our field op.
Here's another one.

As I said, "Music is subjective", but, thanks for posting yours! She is your type of "babe"! :P

And this tune really makes me want to vomit.....last xmas, walmart played this every half hour with the female and male singer variations. Hell on Earth!

I hate that background music in stores that just sticks in your brain.
My head has been re-playing this shit for a week now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuWkVqum6a8
Last time it was Elton John, and "Daniel". That lasted for almost a month. :roar:
Dude at the dollar store that gets stuck working every holiday is awesome though. Went in there for the 4th..."White Christmas"..."Jingle Bells"
On Easter he had on Halloween music..."Monster Mash" etc.
I think he needs a raise.

I have not heard this one on an endless loop. Maybe that's why I still like this tune...in small doses. As for that dude......kudo's to him for going against the grain and for having imagination. I hope he gets a BIG raise!

For my final insult to music lovers everywhere....this little chestnut. From a very cheesy movie, a very cheesy song. Sung by the daughter of crooner Pat Boone. This masterpiece of schlock, imho, holds the record for over exposure, overplayed and just plain done to death. From the 70's...if people don't remember it........your lucky. A major "hit" on the radio in that primitive pre-internet era. Any radio station would play it over and over again and..if memory serves, one dj and station with a sick sense of humor did play it nonstop as a quasi protest against it for a 24 hour period. Memory fails as to those names. Anyway, hope your insulin shots are in order...cause here it comes.

The 80's were scary.
-
The first time I went to Austria my girlfriend at the time warned me while we were still on the train "it's still the 80s in Austria".
I thought this was a figure of speech or something... this was in 2002 after all... but I realized what she meant when we got there. The radio stations were all still playing 80s music. The lake resort in the mountains we stayed in was mostly closed down for the winter but there was a cafe and a restaurant still open and they both played 80s music. It was weird but kinda nice, I love 80s music even though most of it is ostensibly crap.

I do actually like it but I do have a love hate for it because I have seen the rest of the movie and .....fuck.... but I also think of rednecks (it optimises the very worse stereotypes). When I think of rednecks...ah well doesn't matter. Do have a love hate relationship with the song :)

In the Dave Barry book, "Book of Bad Songs." This particular song was in the chapter..Songs women hate. And it's obvious why!
-
This tune was a hit back in the 60's on Pop radio. I hadn't heard it in decades......I don't understand why..... :P Anywho, I was working out on the floor in walmart and lo and behold...this came on. I thought they must be dredging the bottom of the barrel for stuff. But, as it went on, and the song reaches the lyrics, "I felt a knife in my hand....", the tune stopped and another came on. The end of the sentence was..."and she laughed no more." hhhmmmmm, somebody at walmart radio must have been asleep at the wheel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S87jWwzvwd8
Why this tune is still around, I can only guess that there are others like it out there.

What was the fascination with Tom Jones anyways?

Yeah, he became legendary in the crooners circuit. Older women would throw their panties at him as he performed and pray that he would kiss them. :zombiefuck: He was a big deal in his day.

My ex shagged him a couple of times when he was 57 and she was 17. Sounds like Tom Jones would fit in well around here.

My wife is singing "Hopelessly Devoted To You" (from Grease) at an event that was supposed to be this month, but has been pushed back to September.
So there's been lots of Olivia Newton John at our place. Just the one song though. Over and over as my wife tries to memorise the lyrics.

After Axl Rose read local rag On The Street’s interview with Kings Of The Sun drummer Clifford Hoad stating Guns N’ Roses were “nothing more than a Rose Tattoo rip-off band”, he kicked them off the tour.
That's actually kinda true. But I still love Guns n Roses.

I just heard this tune this morning. Carla likes to listen to the Music Choice cable tv, "Easy Listening" channel. It's where former elevator music goes to die! Anywho, my female bio progenitor loved to drag her kids to see Emo movies like "Dr. Zhivago" and the "Sound of music", especially an adolescent boy with ADD to these 3 hour tortures. And then became obsessed with this theme song, which now I can look back on with pride as a testament to survival and endurance.

Btw, I never ever was taken to see a Disney movie. I made up for it later in life after I became a father.

The word 'favourite' and the band 'Nickelback' should never be used in the same breath or sentence. Ever.
I seriously should take you straight to the MAIN EVENT callouts for that.
Disgraceful Ren. Disgraceful!

I don't know why I wrote "favourite". It's the only song of theirs that I like.

This from the classic movie list. It was very over played because it was from a moderately popular movie featuring Dudley Moore and the one of the worst actresses ever, Bo Derek. Cute face, nice boobs, but, the acting talent of a rock. Anywho, apparently in this movie she was the object of obsession by Mr. Moore and when he finally achieved his goal of bedding her...she could only get her juices flowing while doing it to this piece of classical crap. And whenever it comes up on my car siriusXM channel...I hit the off button asap. Bo Derek has done playboy and I'm sure Scrap could find her pics of nudeness somewhere.
So for your listening agony....Ravel's "Bolero".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APj6E4W6xBo
-
Rock, can you give me some examples of classical music that you do like?
I don't find Ravel's Bolero objectionable. I wouldn't say it's something I'd deliberately go out of my way to listen to though.
The movie was a bit stupid. I haven't seen it for 30+ years but it was about a very small man who was dissatisfied with life, rates women out of 10 and is convinced there is no such thing as a perfect 10. Then he becomes obsessed with shagging Bo Derek. When his shrink asks him to rate Bo Derek out of 10 he says "11", on the basis that there are no 10s but there are 9s and there are 11s. That's about how deep it was.
In the end he figures out that shagging Bo Derek wasn't all it was cracked up to be and he goes home and shags Sister Maria (Julie Andrews) instead.

I listen to classical music most of the time on my satellite radio. And I like most of them. Ravel is not one of the composers I care for.

and another "gem". I caused a minor stir on FB among some pseudo friends with a meme I posted last 4th of July. It had a woman dressed like June Cleaver dancing around her kitchen, saying, "This is the first 4th of July that I have not heard that bland, venal, etc, etc, piece of shit by Lee Greenwood that Republicans like to play whenever they try to look patriotic." And this was played at trumpolini's inauguration....which I will NOT post the video....your welcome.
