The police department called us to inform that Lenny got killed by a car that ran over him.... I'm not sure how to feel about this, yet it's just a natural process in life isn't it? You lose a pet, and you go bat shit crazy for a few hours afterwards :'(
-
Rest in Peace you fat ass cat :(
-
:(
-
It's horrible to lose a pet, let alone to something like that. I wish your cat well in the afterlife.
-
I'm so sorry, Genesis. :(
-
Everything will be okay in the long run... Its just the whole situation with the incident left me confused.

And then you think you see him walking where he used to walk, you expect him around for food. It's after the first shock that he's gone that the missing starts. Even missing him trippng you on the stairs at night (if that was one of his habits).
Sorry about your fat ass cat.
-
I too have lost a cat that way. I was heartbroken for ages.
Very sorry about Lenny. :(
-
RIP Lenny.

Sorry to hear that Genesis

:(
I'm sorry Genesis.
-
Wow, that sucks. :(
-
Losing a pet is always hard. I hope your memories will make you smile sometimes.
-
Thanks...
Usually at this time as I am typing this, he pounces on the window screen to tell me to let him in. He had his own little way to find rooms with the light on, to indicate he wanted back in.
It had been like that for the last 5 years.
The family he was a originally with loved him dearly, they even overfed him some chicken that he wasn't suppose to eat. (That's why he was known as the fat ass cat)
-
Hey, pal, I am very old and I have lost many special pets. It really sucks! I can only hope that you had a pic to keep.
As you said, you go crazy and grieve a bit, but the best thing to do after a period of adjustment is to get another pet. If it is another cat you want, then find a bunch of kittens and allow the kitten to choose you. You will have a loyal friend for the extent of its life.
If it is a dog you want then I would caution you to respect the area you have available. DO not get a big dog and force it to live in an apartment with no outdoor life.
Small dogs do OK in Apartment life as long as they get to run and walk every day.
I feel empathy for your loss.
-
Thanks....

I adopted a kitten today, a little guy who was updated on his vaccines, and other necessities. Very energetic... too adorable as well.
His name is Yoshi.
-
That's awesome.
-
Adorable. :)
-
Love that picture. I'm very happy for you both. :)
-
Awwwww, he looks cute and you look happy.
I'm already looking forward to your posts about his mischief.

Being mischievous only makes cats more adorable. Privileged critters, cats. They can commit atrocities and get away with that without a problem.

So do I ^__^

Aww...he's precious. Keep this little fella inside. He's safer that way and it's healthier for him. I've been working in animal rescue for 25 years and cats are perfectly happy and healthy inside. Some cats are truly outdoor cats and some like a mix. But with a little guy that young, he can be indoors for his life and you will have him a good long time.
-
Lorre isn't happy being only inside. He had been living on the streets for a while but he was still young when he showed up at my door. Neighbour of mine got a small kitten as company for her indoor cat. He pines away and terrorises everything and everyone if he can't go outside everyday. So now she has an indoor cat and a cat that is both in and outside. Before that, another neighbour got a tiny tiny rescue kitten, three days old, she hand raised him, but his mother had been a true hunting farm cat. He needed being able to go outside too. Most obnoxious and energetic cat ever. He'd nick clothespins from my washing line. Dropping my laundryin the process. :lol1:
Yet there also are rescues who've lived outside for years who, after neutering, refuse to set a step outside ever again.
-
Adorable. Really happy for you. :)

That was apart of the agreement on his adoption papers...
It came in the forum of a question which was: "Will this be an indoor cat?"

How does that question form an agreement?

I should of looked at that post again ._. I'll admit that I wasn't clear...
It was in the fine print, something that I agreed, as well as my parents also agreeing that Yoshi would be an indoor cat.
-
I see. Thanks.
-
I had friends over to see Yoshi for the first time, and I was a bit nervous about how Yoshi would handle the attention. Turns out he did fairly decent, just got exhausted and napped on my shoulder afterwards.

I don't know if he got it from a rescue agency but a lot of them now will not adopt out unless they're guaranteed the cat will be kept indoors. Some also require that the cat not be declawed. That's the way it was with the last cat rescue I was with.
-
Declawing still happening in some places? :zombiefuck:
-
Yes, sadly. In many places it's still very legal and the norm.
-
It's absolutely forbidden here. Thank goodness.
-
It's still legal in Canada but finally becoming strongly discouraged although I want to see it become illegal entirely.
-
Declawing just makes them defenseless :(
I don't want to see that happen to Yoshi or any other cat for that matter.
-
Get a laser and a cat tease they love those.

My Dad's chihuahua goes after them as well... We tried doing that with Lenny (the cat that was with me before Yoshi), and he went snooty and ignored the laser.

I have two leonbergers who chase it until they're competed exhausted. It's hilarious seeing dogs that big chase the red blinky light.
-
One of my cats completely ignores the red dot. The other now and then is willing to humour us chasing it. He prefers other games though.

It is illegal here in Australia. I read that cats who are declawed still try to sharpen their claws and sometimes scratch their paws bloody. :(
I went mad at some woman on Facebook who said she was going to declaw her kitten because it scratched the carpet. She also said she didn't have a scratching post for the kitten. What an idiot.

I hate asshole pet owners. Fuck them and fuck their precious furniture. :grrr:

Yoshi is starting to think of his carry-on container as a bed. :)
Now that's just too damn cute! ^__^

Feel free to post more pictures of your lovely kitten. :)

Yes! I think you need to start a Genesis' Kitten Thread so you can post lots of pics.
-
^__^ okay

Sorry for your loss, we had to put one of our cats to sleep a little over a month ago my daughter was inconsolable.

I was in your daughter's position when it came to some of my birds passing away. The one that hit me the most was my first one Jack, the ones after that were Malcolm (died too young), Suki (Testicular Cancer [Yes apparently budgies get this sickness] ), and Gaby (Was crippled after an infection took her foot, I found her dead two days after I separated her from Sammy)
-
Your cat was red pilled.
-
Sorry for the long delay, so here are pictures of Yoshi from when I first got him, to the rest being him presently.
-
Who is photobombing who? :zoinks:
Cute Kitty cat.
-
Very cute.
-
Omg, Genesis! Your cat is gorgeous! Such lovely markings. But I can't tell, is Yoshi a big cat?
-
I have a smile for stripey DSH cats.
My cat is 14 years old and a black DSH.
-
What does DSH stand for?
-
Domestic Short Hair
Cat language for mutt.
-
So cute.

So cute.
Especially with his paw resting on the keyboard! He wants to post to Intensity!

He is only 6 months old. Mom thinks he is going to be a big one though, not as big as Lenny... yet big enough.
-
Big cats = more to cuddle. :)
-
Cute kitty.
