Title: How hard is it to have a yard sale?
Post by: Jesse on June 23, 2013, 12:18:26 PM
Very hard. I recently had one, yesterday and I made $9 haha

So, I think the problem is the location. The yard, and this bitch ass neighborhood. also yardsales are a lot of fuckin' work with no goddamn reward. I had most my things prcied for a damn $1 and people were trying to jew me down to 50cents I mean WTF?

Of course, I had some of my rocks out there and sold only one for $5. (And I have really good rocks) Some guy thought the magladon fossil sharks tooth was a fucking arrowhead. I guess the buying public IS really that fucking stupid

He was all, "Hey hunny look at this cool arrowhead!" and picked it up to show his fat GF. Of course I was like hello you dumb bitch, that isn't a arrowhead. And he just looked at me and walked off.

In short. I will never have a yardsale again, all that work for nothing. complete waste of fucking time if you ask me

Be prepared to sell each item for .25

I have the location and it's not worth it.

I set up during the roadfest usually for a few hours though, normally with stuff I'm ready to donate. If it sells fine, if not, fine. I'm under a shady tree sipping my coffee.

Everyone's selling online anymore, they're looking for a quick flip with a nice profit. Those that aren't are usually looking for kid's clothes.

Sell it online, less aggravation and more $$.

We have one a year normally the stuff that doesn't sell at the flea market or is too big to bring,  I usually have some flea market stuff out also because we always go up there the next day and I am already taking the stuff out to load the van.  We did pretty good last year taking in about $150 but that includes a rototiller that went for   $80.  As far as haggling goes people are assholes and all those shows tell people to do it, it annoys the fuck out of me.  I have yet to really get into selling much online it's on my todo list though

Haggling is a corporate conspiracy.  Net want reselling to be a waste of time so people go buy new shit at Walmart.
Gfy, Walmart.

Maybe you could tag them, so you can keep track of them. They may show up on the curbside again, one day.

I think yard sales are exceedingly hard. You need to have a yard to sell. :orly:

It's best to have a yard sale when the local real estate agent organizes it and does the advertising.

He sells a lot of shrubberies. Maybe his shrubberies can make the yard more valuable.

I bought some graphite crucibles at a yard sale near my house that the guy told me he had bought at the same flea market I sell at, I sold two of them up there, which paid for all of them and then some,  and kept three of them to use
