When I have to pick a place next to someone on the bus I may pick just a passenger doing that. And I don't shy away from physical contact.
My leg touching theirs, And me being aware of that touch and not unnerved. Not pushing, just bringing my attention there. And slowly the leg of the other will withdraw, with my leg following, till I have my whole seat. If I'm cold, I'll even enjoy the warmth, stealing it away from them.
Works quickest when the other passenger is a youger man. Especially when they have a big macho attitude.

I never got that, as a kid. I close my legs when I want to catch something. I do not rely on my skirt to catch what is thrown at me.

For some reason I was expecting that to be vacuous bullshit, but the guy makes some very good points.
Labour shortages are often given as a reason to increase immigration. And that is almost always complete bollocks. Increase participation in the labour market through traineeships, education, increased wages. Or bring in pre-trained, cheap labour from overseas. Politicians and businesses tend to favour the second option for obvious reasons.

In the seventies, there were occasional ratty looking "house boats" type things that would drift up onto shore near where I used to surf fish.
These folk had managed to make their way across the Pacific Ocean in a vessel that looked like it was held together by straw and string, bought or worked their passage through the Panama Canal, found their way into the Gulf Of Mexico and eventually made it to the south Texas coast.
The one person or two who knew any English only knew a few words. For instance they knew how to say, "Is this Houston?" and they had some inkling of what a positive or negative answer might be. They were usually about three hundred fifty miles south of where they had hoped to land. Often we saw these boats on the news with twenty or more people in these rat trap boats having made it all the way from Viet Nam, Cambodia or Laos.
As much as there were assholes around there that would want to send them back across the ocean, there were even more kind natured people who would embrace them and offer them jobs despite not really having work available.

I actually work with a fellow whose family made that trip, but they landed in San Francisco when he was a small boy. He is a good "friend" of mine.

It almost seems as if many (here) have forgotten that it is our differences or diversity (not the politically correct usage - I mean true diversity!) that makes us stronger, not just as a nation "one from many," but as a collective of people in a community.

Our government wants to extend the border controls to Denmark and Germany for another six months. They've been in place since the end of 2015 and were essentially a way to appease the extreme right. They were, and are, a gross violation of EU law, but the EU doesn't seem to care.

It's a common misconception amongst many Americans that Sweden is a Socialist economy though, which at one time it partially was. This is his main point to an American audience, that the socialist aspect of Sweden's economy didn't actually work and they had to privatize it.

Initially i stumbled onto a site i had never been to based on a search of keywords on an image i had never seen and clicked on to enlarge it because i could not read it.
There was no pattern and i was stumbling about as i often do.

Aldi does drinkable wine for under $3 a bottle. That's about 1.5 quid. It works out cheaper by the cask. I don't drink enough to justify buying a cask but.
You used to be able to drive from Sydney to Adelaide and there would be huge orchards of citrus on the way. They all got ripped out and it's grapes and more grapes now. Wine is a huge industry now.

The cheapest wine here starts at £4 and it's battery acid. Again, Aldi does some decent wines. It's really all Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc here. Bacchus is the English toast of wine geeks. We do a good line in gin too. We have a local gin, but it's easy to make.
