I think that you should give yourself time to get better unless you feel fine tomorrow.
I know you had a killer headache and a fever but did you have any other symptoms?
I'm glad I don't get that shit. Asthma is bad enough. Not sure. I might stay home if my temperature's still up.

An ocular migraine, too. :(
I seemed to be fine this morning, with no fever, so I went to work. Maybe that was a stupid thing to do.
Oh, I have asthma too. :zoinks:Like a bad trifecta with the eyes thrown in. :zombiefuck:

Follow-up. The doc said the pain/cramps may be from the way she is cradling that hand under the other arm. Said any surgery would be strictly cosmetic because she doesn't have use of her fingers and surgery wouldn't give her use of them. Therapy and a splint were recommended.

I wonder how a splint would stop her hand from cramping, because she couldn't cradle it under the other arm with a splint on it?

Because her wrist and hand are folded into an inverted V shape with the fingers almost resting on the inside of the arm. Cradling in puts more pressure and narrows the gap between the palm and arm more, causing some cramping. Or so the thinking is. The splint will keep it the wrist and hand straighter.
Thanks ladies. We're going to go splint shopping tomorrow at some sporting goods stores.

Probably be up @ 4:22 to 4:24 am (my usual here) pack and inventory stuff, walk it all down to the Fortitude Valley rail station @ 0700 and take the train to the Airport. My flight from Brisbane to Sydney leaves @ 0925 and lands @ 1100, than my flight from Sydney to DFW takes off @ 1325 and lands in Dallas @ 1345 hrs, my flight to SFO takes off @ 1540 hrs and lands in San Francisco @ 1720 hrs. My total flight time including layovers is listed @ 24 hrs 55 minutes, throwing in 2.5 hours getting to Brisbane Airport, and 40 minutes retrieving my bags @ SFO and an hour getting back to Vallejo if I can catch the 6:30 pm Evans Airporter (the one you took to Vallejo CBC) will make it something like 28 hours 35 minutes. :zombiefuck: It has been worth it though. Fortunately I can't afford to do this all the time.

My favourite cartoon of all time, from sometime in the late 1960's or very early 1970's:
2 female hippies are walking down the street. Caption, "You know, I hate housework. You sweep the floor, you wash the dishes and you dust the place. Then 6 months later, you've got to do it all over again."
I'll probably sleep late, make coffee when I finally wake up and bitch about the morning.

Well, we went to th Dr. PA is to stay off his ankle for another 6 weeks. There has been some hopeful healing, so it's another wait and see. It's been a little over 6 months since the surgery.

I'm not too sure. Whatever is living in and around the water I suppose. I wasn't given a very good description of exactly what will take place beyond this: "insect study, games, bug box and hunting, samples of stream critters, going into the stream to look for insects"Store to see the cats in the morning. It is 2:30am I have finished a mammoth tidy and mop and so on in the house. It no longer looks like a bachelor pad. I have one of my daughters friends being dropped off at 10am and she will be sleeping over. the place looks good and I have sorted out bedding and whatever. The bathroom, kitchen and toilet are all looking clean and presentable and I think she will not be turned off.
Tomorrow I will take my boy to see men in black whilst the girls hang out and do whatever the fuck pre-teen nt girls do. I wil be close by and the will be able to do their own thing with knowledge that if they need me I am close at hand by be grown up enough to hang out by themselves.
Then I will come home and see if they want to help make a curry or whether they want a pizza instead. Dvd's are sorted and I will no be too strict on the ligts out rule. So long as they keep giggling quietish I am cool.

Tidy up my kitchen and family room. Go to ladybugs school to help her class with their school play. It's cute how excited Ladybug is about me helping out :) Then two of my best friends coming over in the evening for a few hours.
Ladybug's school is quite small and we're lucky because we have equal amounts of active parents (both Mums and Dads, and several grandparents too) but I like the family feel to it. All the kids know each others parents and everyone looks out for everyone else's kids and we make good use of parental talents.Tidy up my kitchen and family room. I remember the early days when the PR was in school. Since PA stayed home he was the one to do all the "Mom" things. It really counted with the other students that her Dad showed up rather than her Mom.
recuperate from today. I got a call about 2:30 from the blood bank saying they needed my blood type urgently and could I come down today and donate? I went and evidently it is true because while I was on the donating couch, 4 guys in fatigues came in and said they were there also in answer to a phone call. I have no idea why there is a crisis because we haven't had any catastrophies around here lately.
Anyway, after I donated I felt nauseous and had to lie down for an hour after I got home. No idea why it happened. I'm feeling better, but plan to take it easy tomorrow.
Go to my psych appointment and let her know that the experiment we have been working on has largely failed. I am not disciplined enough it seems.

Yeah, turns out though that it was not as bad as I thought. I am getting better, but slowly. I just haven't done the main intervention she suggested but instead have come up with my own smaller ones. And that is good enough to her.Go to my psych appointment and let her know that the experiment we have been working on has largely failed. I am not disciplined enough it seems.Experiment?

Splashpad? Is that like a swimming pool?
I am putting my car in for a service then am catching the train and bus to autism group. We are supposed to be talking about holidays and showing photos. I don't have any photos because they are all in storage but I can talk about the times I went to Thailand and Japan.

No, it's like a park with a bunch of sprinklers for the kids to run though. Lots of fun for the kids and they're operated by the city and free. We're under another heat alert today.

Tomorrow is more cleaning, and getting ladybug ready to go back to her Dad's for the holiday weekend. Looking forward to 3 kid free days so I can catch up on stuff around the house.
Really? I don't think they have an age restriction here, that I know about anyway. I've been with the aspie teens before and no one said anything and parents have been playing around in them with their kids.
Continue packing. Having everything you own in boxes is a pain in the ass :thumbdn:Up until I got married, I spent most of my life moving. I always hated the packing up process, but loved the unpacking. Don't know why. Packing felt exhausting, and I guess because one discovers how much crap one really does own  but finding places to put everything away and get organized felt good.

But given that she's a mother of a handicapped child, she's probably quite accepting of other people's quirks. My daughter has a best friend from school and when I met her parents I was really intimidated. Both high profile doctors, Dad is a cancer specialist and Mum is a psychiatrist. But finally this year I spent a few hours at their house and it was messy (my first relief as I imagined it to be perfect). Mum's passion is in neuroscience and she specialized in working with aspie adults. Turns out she's a total hippie and I finally had her over to my house and I thoroughly enjoyed her company. I think it just takes times to let our walls down and for the other person to do the same.Lunch and swim at a possibly new friend's house.

Going to try and get him to increase my pain meds. I'm heartily sick of being left without enough, and dealing with the agonizing spasms in my calf and thigh.
Need to get an email sent to my stalker too, want to ring her again, but likely she will be too busy, as she just attended her eldest son's wedding yesterday, which involved her flying out of state.

The temperature of the liquid is around -196C and if it is not used properly it can cause frostbite or cryogenic burns, he warned.
As with any very hot or very cold liquid proper safety measures must be taken, he said. Just as no-one would drink boiling water or oil or pour it over themselves, so no-one should ingest liquid nitrogen.

Then you can rock as much as you like and not have to share a bathroom! :laugh:Thanks. :) I don't share the shower but my stepdad keeps using the toilet I use - I have no idea why, my parents have a perfectly good toilet in their bathroom. It drives me crazy.
Tomorrow is busy. Oldest is getting together with his friends in the morning. Then a service man is coming over in the afternoon to winterize the plumbing lines for the sprinklers followed by picking up the youngest after school and then taking the oldest to his psych appt after dinner. Somewhere in there I need to find time to clean my bedroom.
We do. His appointment is 7-8pm. We've found we like evening appts much better than daytime ones. We don't feel as rushed, the city is quieter because it's a weeknight. No one else in the waiting room at the office either. Makes both of us relaxed and not so overstimulated by a massive 15 storey office building in full swing.Good luck with the housing appt, Ren. I have no clue what MLA is going to do legally speaking, but if his online perosnallity is any indication of how he truely is he's going to be the worst lawyer in his state. why? It wouldnt be hard for an opposing team to poke holes in any argument he has or make him flusterd showing his hand, :LMAO:

Nope, followed by the early voting poll commissioners drinking up all the booze in the town.
In Sweden we vote on the second Sunday in September every fourth year, both on national, county and municipality level.

Just because we don't always allow the winner to win doesn't make it confusing per se :)
Okay some voting trivia.
In Louisiana, local and state elections are on Saturday.
Federal elections are always on a Tuesday? Why? Because back when we were an agrarian society, the farmer could not leave his animals unattended 2 days in a row. Voting on either Saturday or Monday would make it harder for a farmer to vote. And it is considered sacreligious to vote on Sunday, when he went to church.
In Federal elections you can early vote starting on the 14th day before the election extending through the 7th day before the election, giving the voter 7 days of early voting (Sundays excepted.) The regular election day is the first Tuesday in November.
She wasn't :viking: enough. I actually have pirate forefathers for real
To about 1700, although I haven't done the research myself. I could probably trace it far longer back if I wanted :viking:
This part of Sweden was populated by Germanic tribes already 4000 B.C., so I probably have ancestors who lived here 6000 years ago, although the church records only go back to the Middle Age, of course :viking:
Not really sure. The 16th Century, maybe :-\

The same applies to cleaning the house with the children home, versus the children not home. Amazing how much one can get done when the kids are gone :laugh:I'm going to work from home. It's my chance to actually get something done.

The problem with the office is that you are constantly being interrupted. It's very difficult for me to get a full day's worth of actual coding.
I know what you mean. I always was distracted and a fairly slow auditor. Then I decided to make a 2 columned sheet, breaking the time down in 6 minute increments from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The idea came from a lawyer friend who had to have 50 hours of chargeable time a week. If you could get 2 questions answered/dealt with in the 6 minutes, that was .2 of an hour charged, the minimum.
I was truly amazed at the amount of interruptions, personal lost time, and the actual amount of time it took me to do things during the day. I would simply track it by brief notes: phone - Booker, A/P might read one entry. If something went on for more than 6 minutes I simply drew an arrow down until I had a different activity. I became more focused and wasn't so hard on myself afterwards.
I am going to take Ceilidh to an ultrasound (on her foot) appointment.
I have no idea since everything I have thought I'd be doing this week, turned out not happening. The week has been turned on its head. Craziness. It's most likely a safe bet that dishes and laundry will be in there somewhere though.

Deposing my Civil Procedure professor.
As an exercise in discovery techniques, all information we want to obtain about the final exam has to come from correctly utilized discovery methods. We have deposed him once before, used those answers to develop and serve interrogatories and requests for production, and now we have our last deposition tomorrow.

I hope she isn't in any pain.I don't know how she actually hurt it but scans showed some calcification of the Achilles tendon I think (I am going on what Ceilidh said to me). She has been limping a bit and is taking ibuprofen for the pain which is working. The physio guy has given her some exercises to do and she will be seeing a podiatrist at some point in the future. Since golf and tennis are two sports that I refuse to watch, would someone explain the Wimbledon News post? I'm guessing it has something to do with Love and ??????????
Riverfest.
Flea markets in the morning, band in the evening, fireworks and decorated boats at night.
At the top of the hill awaiting fireworks Wed night.

Tennis players, generally women players, tend to shriek or grunt really loudly when they hit the ball. It's really annoying.
Some people have likened the noise that the players make, to sex noises
I also haven't got a clue. :apondering:

Bring my daughter to work with me to help finish up the house I worked on today. She wants to earn some money to spend in NYC next week
She has gone with me before but mostly just when I needed someone to hand me things or when I wanted someone around in case I fell or got stuck. Tomorrow she will be helping clean up and learning the art of wrapping up extension cords which is one of my pet peeves. I am a great boss I even buy breakfastBring my daughter to work with me to help finish up the house I worked on today. She wants to earn some money to spend in NYC next week
Good for her, has she ever worked for you before? :dollar: :cheer: :dollar: Are you a tough boss?
Relax and work around the house
Doctors visits
Kid goes back to school.
Dr. suggested home schooling (IBS, other issues) but he doesn't want that, wants to try.
So I will be putting him on the bus tom, a little glad and a little worried he still won't be able to make it through the day. :zombiefuck:

IBS sucks. :(
I would get sick every morning before school without fail. It was worse if I ate anything. I still can't eat breakfast early in the morning.
Can he take some pepto to school with him? Sometimes that helps me. I keep the little tube of tablets in my purse.
Get my tooth fixed.
I agree. I have so much dental work to be done and I'll be happy when its over with, :PGet my tooth fixed.
When teeth need fixing, that's something to look forward to!

... about insulation ...
I am told that my crawlspace should be insulated on the sides and bottom and the interior of the space should be open to the heat and air like the rest of the house.
What do you think of this "new thinking?"
I have four inch thick concrete, five feet deep, surrounded by solid building blocks all around the perimeter of the concrete, rising another four inches, whch the house sits on (with about forty pylons made of the same mareial). I have massive insulation against the flooring from undermeath, but I am told that I would be better off to allow the heater and air conditioner to enter the crawlspace and insulate the sidewalls better.
What do you think?
I live in Central Indiana. Sometimes it gets to twenty or thirty below, Fahrenheit, in winter. It also gets into the upper nineties for a couple of months every summer and occasionally over one hundred degrees.
Should I trust my construction "professional" and allow him to do this work?
Would I be better to insulate the perimeter of my crawlspace and allow it to be a conditioned air space, all year long?

Sorry didn't see this till now. Insulating the walls is the way to go especially if there is plumbing or duct work in the crawlspace. Make sure to deal with any moisture problems first though. There are many ways of insulating the walls, be careful if he suggests spray foam especially if he doesn't mention that you have to stay out of the house 24-72 hours after the install.

Yes, it's a good idea.
You seem to have surprisingly bad insulation in the US, considering that the northern parts of the country are actually as cold as here.

I think it is a bit disturbing that you are judging an entire third of a continent by one post made to a fellow poster about a very specific issue.
If you really wanted to help, you would cite some scientific data that might provide me with answers to my specific question, helping me to make a decision on a very expensive home improvement, instead of making broad brush strokes against Americans at every turn.
Your post reminds me of the "Eye DEE Ten T" error, so common on the net these days.

Nah, I am about to pull the trigger. His plan makes great sense to me.
He wants to lay in two inch "Styrofoam" around the block brick foundation/ interior walls of the crawl space, place heat/cold activated vents around the perimeter and open a small duct from our HVAC unit very twenty feet or so, size of which would depend upon the absolute pressure in the vent at each point.
My crawl space is totally dry, so no problems there. There is plumbing below the house; Some hot lines and ALL the drains. I have had a pipe and a toilet freeze up solidly a few years ago, bursting and causing some water underneath, when it was thirty below zero F. one winter. That was rare. Our lowest temp is usually about fifteen below.
What do you think about venting our HVAC system into the crawl space for a further protective measure?

Adding a little heat down there is not a bad idea it will not cost much and will give you that extra bit of protection.

She didn't prescribe them originally. The one who did was great but he switched jobs and I got this one instead. She's condescending and tends to repeat things endlessly, taking ages to arrive at any conclusion. She doesn't want to prescribe the stimulants, not really; now that I am having stress-related symptoms wants to lower the dose, the problem being that if I go lower I might as well stop taking them.I take Seroquel but I am not exactly sure what for. It was prescribed to me while I was in hospital. Since I have been on it, I have had the best sleeps ever though, even being able to sleep while Ceilidh plays Star Trek Online, heh. I have also noticed I am a lot calmer during the day. However, I think it is the main culprit for my weight gain.
I've had a lifetime of poor sleep. I tend to go to bed very late to be able to sleep at all because my mind won't shut off. Any earlier and I'll just lie there, my mind all over the place. The moron prescribed me Seroquel, hoping it will make me drowsy. Seroquel, of course, is a schizophrenia med and the use of it as sleep medication is off-label and not recommended.
I have to switch doctors.
I said, "this again?" to him but he still went on. Maybe I should give him the link to AVEN, a forum about asexuality.^I need to find a new doctor. Annoying indeed. In my village we had a police officer as annoying as that, but then the other way around. No matter what the complaints in the neighbourhood were, he only was interested in the horizontal way of making money of my direct neighbour. Even when people on the other side of the road called in the police because of sexual harassment of their 7 year old. Call in about a car being damaged, he'd ask about her again, how many clients she had and such.
Have you tried telling your psychiatrist how annoying it is that he keeps asking about it? He should be able to get his information elsewhere, if asexuality interests him that much. And you are not seeing him about being asexual.
Hopefully, come home from work early.
I have to count on my managers wanting to come home from work early too, and telling us to go home so that they can leave.

Last week, we did our FINAL (contracted to) family appointment with our eight year long psychological study of our family.
I understand that within two months we will have one more culmination meeting to discuss all our problems and offer options for continuing in the study.
(Remember, when I first joined here, I mentioned that my family was a part of an eight year long study of multiple cases of autism in one family? It is finally coming to a close. Doubt that we helped much, but we got some really good therapy for the kids at times.)
We will have no Christmas party at BBy. I do not miss them.
OT: tomorrow, I will work my ass off and return home overstimmed to FUCK after dealing with so many people for SO DAMN long.

Yeah, a while! If you peal back the years, I talked about this quite a bit when we were about a year or so in to the study. I had a very positive attitude that we were getting help for our kids.
We have had to attend many "sessions" as a family and some individual with multiple doctors, submit to nearly one hundred home visits, some included multiple visitors (EVERY SINGLE ONE OF WHICH UPSET THE KIDS OR ME, btw), keep logs and records of behaviors, changes in behavior, document eating habits, hygiene habits, school habits, social influences, then submit to timely questions about progress, future, lifestyle, conflicts, successes etc, etc.
I think I am about done.
Not sure but I know it will involve some serious alone time after all the interaction I had today I need it

They were to come here at 7 pm, I thought. I came home from work at 4 pm, and there was already one here. Taking over everything. My wall had been layered with silly childish notes, and all just doesn't fit.
I raced home, after work, so I would have some time in relative quiet, to get through this evening with relative ease.

Hey hyke, look on the bright side yet, your kids haven't blown up any treasured vases using the household mains supply yet, started smoking, filled the garage with teargas, or burnt into the back garden pavement with thermite.:lol1:
Yet.

Going to "work" at the cinema. :P

Going to work.
Thinking of staying at home to do it, though.
Straighten out the trailer and van then work on my radio project
Work on the van, I am putting new rotors, brake pads and front wheel bearings on it. I bought the parts today but it's rather cold outI just had all that done on my truck in December.
Work and study.
I have decided not to eat any food tomorrow, because I need to lose 10 lbs. Consequently, I will not be working out. I may eat 3-5 egg whites in order to get the bare minimum amount of protein required. I tend to have 1-2 fast days per week, along with 2-3 work out days.
I also need to finish an outline.

Try and get a walk in. Continue with my immense efforts to clean my flat, which has been gathering dust, and goodness knows what else, for years because I was too down to make a start on it. Carry on sorting out my embroidery threads. Add a few more bits to my ideas for a poem I am to write. Life is so exciting... not :lol1:I have to clean my place too. It gets really, really dusty. Someone is coming to install a smoke alarm outside my bedroom door so that is incentive to clean things up a bit.
Did you get home without any hassle?

Yes, no problem. The whole trip was about waiting and then some more waiting. And did I mention waiting?
Going to see my friend in Perth Clinic and talk and colour in mandalas. It is a very calming thing to do. :)
I got a colouring book for adults before it was a complete hype. Now you cannot enter a bookstore, or even cigar store without seeing various colouring books for grown-ups, including books with mandalas.
I love them. But I notice I now stay away from them, because of it being a total hype.
Why would you feel guilty? No need, other people watch soap series to unwind. Colouring is a lot more creative and soothing.I got a colouring book for adults before it was a complete hype. I have not really noticed many here in the Uk, but I don't tend to look in the sections they might be in. I only have one I found at a discount bookstore, but have yet to do any. I sort of feel as if I am doing something pointless and unproductive if I do colouring and feel guilty.

Unless you are "moving down" or some shit, then ROKK ONN!!
I always hated to move, but I was always glad it was over and always "moved up," generally.
(understand that I am a man and I sometimes moved to improve the fishing or the hunting or shorten the walk to the city bus pick up)
Hope it all goes well for you.

We had an $86,000 fire in November. We paid $57,000 for the house and lot in 1990. Gutted to the studs. We're back in, busy unboxing stuff that was salvaged and in storage, buying stuff that we didn't need in the interim at the furnished apartment, moving stuff that we bought such as clothes, etc.
House guests should arrive tomorrow.

So, you would never have gone with me yesterday. (Sorry, I am still pumped up!! It was fucking AWESOME!!) You would not have gone with me into a crowd of over two hundred and some fifty or more thousands to watch the "Greatest Spectacle In Racing?"
Two hundred twenty six miles per hour, average speed around the track to take the pole position. That is approximately 365Kph for just over 4km around the track average speed, readying for a race that is about 800Km, according to google - that is over one hundred meters per second in a four wheeled, self contained vehicle, pal, for several hours all at once. I know you get the math, but FUCK!! It IS amazing to experience this first hand! Does this not intrigue people anymore?
How about watching in real time while the "yet to be winner" takes the lead for the last time at well over that speed down the straightaway at only BARELY a hand width apart from each others tires, winning or sheer disaster the outcome from four mens' abilities to keep their nerve or lose it and crack them all up? They were SO fucking CLOSE together!!
I am honestly feeling that I am getting way to old to ever miss another thrill like this, ever again.
I have missed many Indy 500s over the years, but I am re-thinking my priorities today.
(Hell, I have lived here since the early nineties and only just experienced my ninth Indy 500)

Some magicians can walk on water, Chuck Norris can swim through land.
Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with Chuck Norris.
Chuck Norris doesn't turn on the shower he just looks at it and it cries.
Chuck Norris once threw a grenade and killed 50 people, then the damn grenade exploded.
Death once had a near-Chuck-Norris experience.

Sorry, but many of us "westerners" forget or (another apology) ignore what the fifth of May means to Danes and all of northern Europe.
It is impossible for one to apologize for an entire continent's worth of ignorance, but I AM sorry to have not been more gracious.
Most of us know you folks are :viking: :viking: :viking: :viking: :viking: :viking: ... ... ...
... but it seems that we tend to get caught up in our own successes and seem to forget that none of us have acted alone. It was most of the free world against the Nazis, not just the new born Chuck Norris.
Please, allow me the chance to take the joke away and offer a kind bow to all your fallen, as we do for our own on the last Monday of May.

Those are pricey :plus: for trying to find the owner
I am visiting my friend who is in hospital again, this time she is sick with side effects or withdrawals from medication. She is obese and apparently they tried to get her to use an extra toilet seat so she wouldn't break the one that is there. At first she was angry but then she was upset and said she was going to leave. I convinced her to stay because she is there for more reasons than a toilet seat. She is there to get better. I am just hoping she doesn't self harm as she has done in the past when upset.

I am just hoping she doesn't self harm as she has done in the past when upset.
It's hard, seeing a friend going up and down again that way for so long.
It is, it has been years. She tends to blame others for her predicaments and it is hard to reason with someone who does that. And she always wants someone to fix her problems for her rather than face them herself. It is frustrating. She is starting a new med tonight and I am wondering if it will be any good. If it isn't, she will blame the doctors for "making" her take it.I am visiting my friend who is in hospital again, this time she is sick with side effects or withdrawals from medication. I had one of those "friends". She held everybody else responsible for her happiness and did nothing for herself to improve her situation.

I have a friend who now seems to be changing a bit away from that. Hope she can follow through. Maybe it now helped that where ever she went people told her very clearly she could not be fixed. They could aim for alleviating only, and aim for learning her how to cope.
back on topic ...
I found something in the alley this evening. Pretty sure I know to whom it belongs. I plan to investigate and return it.
It is one of these fairly serious two and some horse power Huskvarna chainsaws :

Funny. I was about to post that.
Jump some bureaucratic hoops again. This time with the oldest. She's not looking forward to it. Meant she could not stay with her dad this night. And she'll miss a couple of hours of school too.I will be crossing all of my crossable parts that it is as painless and easy as it could be.
Oh well.
Hopefully will be done with these hoops after today.
Then a new circuit of hoops is being laid out, because of DD being an adult in a few months.

Still plan to work in my garden.
I have a few more areas to harvest for the last time, a couple of areas to clean up a bit and set for later harvest and several to clean up and set to bed for the winter.
This year is a good year, though. I have a great deal of compost and even some (store bought bags of) manure to spread on the areas I can put down for the winter.
This week I am expecting a delivery of black peat. This is not the same as what you can buy in a bag from a store called Sphagnum Peat Moss. This is deep dug ancient mire product, mixed with ground evergreen bark and leaves.
We have very alkaline soil here (everywhere you turn there is a limestone quarry), so this will lower the soil PH some AND add some needed micro-nutriments.
I am ready to dig a bunch and get sore muscles again!
It's Thanksgiving here so tomorrow I will be cooking a big meal. :viking:
Going to a craft group with Kayleigh. More clothes washing.
We didn't do craft, instead we painted. We used water soluble paints and crayons and salt to make different effects. Kayleigh didn't come because she wouldn't get out of bed. So, peeved with her.Going to a craft group with Kayleigh. More clothes washing.

Tomorrow I am seeing my uni supervisor for the last time. I have a present for her which is a paper flower ball made up of smaller flowers. It won't die like real flowers would.
Its that time of the year again where the flea infestation occurs overnight so I will deal with that. Also, laundry, and seeing if the weather will let me get it all bloody dry this week.

There are spot on flea treatments that not only get the cat flea free, but also the environment.
I always treat the least co-operative one first (Luna). So she does not get wound up even more by the scent of the stuff on Sirius. Sirius is not that hard, he does not like it, but is way less sensitive and defensive. So even doing him second makes him easier than Luna is as the first victim of treatment. Its that time of the year again where the flea infestation occurs overnight so I will deal with that. I know. I managed to get one cat treated but the other won't co-operate :P. Still have to do a bit to get them out of the carpet though.
Now I wanted to ask "what pills?" But the post is gone. :bigcry::laugh: Comfortis. Can only get it from vets here.
The pills are the best. They're expensive but the vet is nice to allow a prescription for twice the weight so the pills can be cut in half, which accommodated two pets when there were two pets; now they last twice as long with one pet.Now I wanted to ask "what pills?" I can only seem to get Comfortis for dogs but not cats here. I usually use Revolution for the cats. Apparently other ones like Frontline don't work in hot humid climates, yet it's the only one most places sell.

Frontline worked fine here, fifteen years ago. Apparently the fleas adapted.
Looks like Revolution and Stronghold are different names for the same stuff.

I buy the large vials of Advantage and meter the doses by syringe according to weight here. Had a friend that ran a rescue that told me how to do it.
Afraid to go with anything stronger, my female is a sensitive, special little snowflake that can inflict great bodily harm if you're not quick about it.
The lady I had my cats from could buy large vials, because she ran a small cat rescue. She would go round people in the neighbourhood who had taken in some of her rescued critters to treat them against fleas. Now she is not allowed to buy the stuff in bulk any more, due to more strict regulations.I can only seem to get Comfortis for dogs but not cats here. I usually use Revolution for the cats. I was told about this years ago, when the kid was little he would sneak the neighbors cats in (they had close to 10 of them), and they could never afford to treat them, I was going broke buying flea treatment for their cats, but I had deep shag carpet, and it was better than bombing the house all the time.I can only seem to get Comfortis for dogs but not cats here. Do you buy in bulk and if you do is it hard to find? We use the packets on the dog but not the cats they get flea baths every couple weeks

I'm going to spend a lot of it working :(
But there is Fallout
Will be daughter's 17th birthday tomorrow, so will be doing pretty much whatever she wants to do. :lol1: Taking her out for a meal at lunchtime with my parents (its as good a way as any to stop them inviting themselves over to the house... its not that I mind seeing them but the 'visitor standard' tidying up is more than I can be bothered with), then probably picking up supplies for the rabbits and a Breaking Bad marathon.

I have a doctor's appointment, or rather a surgeon's appointment. They're going to do something called an arthrocentesis, which means they are going to wash out my right jaw joint's synovial cavity. Apparently they'll give me meds that help me forget the whole thing afterwards, which is a good thing.if they give you what they gave me for my upper endoscopy you really will remember nothing. i knew it would happen so i hid a voice recorder on me. when i woke up i had a sore throat and they told me don't worry about it but on the recording i heard them having trouble getting me to swallow the tube. i still have no memory of it. the meds wore off in about 45 minutes after i woke up and they let me leave then; they would have kept me longer without someone to take me home.

I was planning to DIY detail my old car (to get ready to sell) but I dunno, I may just do the interior and leave the outside till as long as necessary because it has to stay outside and it will just get crap all over it again even if it's got the cover on. There's red stains all over it. I'm not sure if it's birds pissing blood or tree sap, because it still gets on the car no matter what species of tree I park under. The stuff won't wash off. I'm gonna try and claybar it and see what happens.

Meet crush boi at Bunnings and get my phone charger back and his jumper cables. If he doesn't like what Bunnings have on offer in the pink batts dep't we're going to drive south to Masters together
Come home and maybe do some housework.
HE WANTS TO GO AT 6 IN THE MORNING!!!! :GA:
He's decided to go to Masters. It's a 1 hour drive away.
Crush boi should definitely stay crush boi only, our sleeping patterns are just way too different
(We ended up meeting at Bunnings only later in the morning. Too wet and windy to drive south)Did he find what he was looking for?
Tomorrow I'm going to kick ass at work, then kick off a 6-day vacation! :pirate:
See what crush boi is up to THIS saturday. He's going to Master's but he's taking one of his tenants with him to get paint etc as he's letting them repaint his house to colours they like. So there goes my potential special day to spend alone with him :'(. We'll see I guess.
Maybe going to another dance social, but we only had one at the same hall 3 weeks ago. Plus they do boring easy dances because the floor is full of old people who can't remember anything they learn.
Leaving for the flea market at 330AM :zombiefuck:
Taking a small overnight road trip to Grafton for a dance workshop and social.
He is trying to piss me off because I called him a bigot and showed him why. He obviously won't be able to back up his shit so he is trying to piss me off any way he can. He is not failing so he is now treated like the troll he is.

Actually that is bullshit isn't it, Odeon? The truth is I back myself but YOU don't. In fact you will do anything but back yourself.
Who am I bigoted towards and how am I intolerant to them?
See, you won't back that up and I have shown you lying and bait and switching when called on to.
Shouldn't that be 'disemboweling'?
Which is again, very different from disembowling. Which is the term used to describe the surgical procedure required to remove large weighted spheres from unfortunate orifices. She'd be kinda cute at either, mind you:)
How come? she hurt herself? can she use the arm? if the latter is the case, then predator-style wrist-blades would be perfect for her:D
Or perhaps the 'katar' (old indian weapon, as in indian indian, not red indian), where there are a set of paired handles close together, plus a grip or guide further up, set between the outer long section behind the blade, so it can be punched forward with considerable force. Some, called 'scissors katar' the handles can be squeezed together causing a secondary pair of blades to flick out in a V shape, so as to catch other blades.
And as with anyone it isn't how many you have its what you can do with them that counts. Be it disembowelling, bowling or friendly pursuits.
:chores:
Work.
Do as I'm going to do later today, after my doc appointment and after my old man has cooked tea,
Break bad. So to speak. You know what I mean, don't you darlin'?
That's just it couldbe! I have been busy applying myself, as you put it. Can't spend the time watching a movie whilst also busy slaving away at the bench, distilling and freezing and refluxing and extracting etc.

Lots of cuddles for The PR. (Story to follow on Monday)
Ignore things around the house
Today was The PR's first day at the ARC Community Center. Not a major failure, but far from a resounding success. We arrived and I sat with her waiting for the director to come in (she has some serious medical issues and was running late, no big problem). The PR looked at a magazine she brought, then asked if she could walk around. She did, quite slowly and sedately. She came back and said, "I've got a friend." Grabbed her stuff and went to the back.
After I talked to the director I went to say good-bye. The PR was sitting with 3 other clients, having a nice time.
When I went to pick her up, she asked if she HAD to go back there. Someone stole a charger, someone picks up trash. and it has "Freaks." She went with some others in the van and drove around the Superdome, why I don't know. I let things ride until after dinner when we had a gentle talk. She's going back tomorrow, so we'll take it day by day.
She definitely needs cuddles, hugs and encouragement. Some of her problem is that most of the clients are more severely delayed than she is. But, it is what it is and she's going to have to make the best of it. Mean Mommy, I know, but that's just a part of life. She can't stay home on the computer all day long. She must have some outside interests.
@ Lestat
She's been flip flopping back and forth about ARC, but she's going tomorrow. My decision.
The rest of your post will require some thought. She already has an I2 account, but doesn't post, just seems happy to have it and will sometimes ask if we mention her. There was some discussion about letting someone with her mental limits have an account. She met the chronological age, but not the mental age that goes with it. I knew she wouldn't be active, so I felt there wasn't any danger in letting her have an account. Someone else might be a different situation.
Is it his last year, Icequeen? I know he is a teenager but that's all.
Tomorrow I am going to college for Communications and Word Processing classes. They are quite easy.

We should not discriminate based upon 'mental age', which is not, unlike age defined by physical existence for a given number of solar rotation cycles relative to the planet of origin and lifespan of the species being assigned the mental age .
I am sure I speak for all of us that there is not a one among us who would actively engage in being a bastard to the PR, and indeed, while I am sure I speak for many more than myself, in my own case, I WILL NOT tolerate it if I see it. Unless she has truly done something so egregious and unforgivable as to deserve a hostile response, then anybody who has a go at her has something else, too.
Namely, 'it coming'. Thats not to say I'd support her doing things such as engaging in bullying of the kind I would come down like a ton of bricks on whoever aimed it her way, I won't excuse it, and I won't assist her in doing it either. But if someone starts bullying HER, then they won't just have her to deal with, they will have me, too. And whether or not she has a thick skin, I most certainly do, and whatever some fucking piece of shit could dish out her way unlooked for, unwanted and undeserved, believe it your (and her) highness, I can, and will serve up a steaming hot plate of far, far worse.
Insofar as how I'll the PR, I will treat her as my equal. Because to me, she IS, in every way possible, my equal. Aside from what generative organs she possesses, any tissue scarring, what is on her vs my chest, fingerprint patterns, eye color potentially and what pattern of chromosomes resides within her cell nuclei, she is, to me, my absolute equal. Not of course counting specific life experiences gone through, and not counting specific skillsets unique to each of us then to me, she is just the same as I am. I don't care if she has MR, not one bit. Well, I do, but only in the sense that I do not like to see, and will not stand for in the slightest, either anybody using that fact as a basis for picking on PR (or others with MR, I've had partners who had MR in one or another form several times in the past, and you damn well bet your arse that anyone giving them grief earned a swift and extremely hostile response that was unbendingly, totally and absolutely unforgiving and without compromise. Likewise had anyone seedy ever tried taking advantage in a manipulative, self-interested sort of thing way, I wouldn't even have done that. I'd have just forced them to dig a deep pit, kicked them into it, filled it in and left them to die.
I neither appreciate, or will I tolerate 'people' who take it out on people that they judgementally decide are weaker than, and worse yet, because of that, worth less than them. Along with abusing animals, thats one thing that doesn't even bother lighting a short fuze with me. Its true, I DO have a very short fuse where those acts are concerned, but it doesn't get lit and burn through quickly, it just dispenses with the lighting and lets off the charge with a cap.
I don't fucking LIKE bullies. Not at all. I admit, as a very young kid I did sometimes, but only then, and I certainly don't do it now and have not since earlyish childhood. Quite the opposite now, if I see it I will step in, the only reason I wouldn't charge in, is if its going to literally get me killed, good chance of resulting in a stabbing etc. And even then, you can bet that I would start throwing glass bottles, bricks, rocks, whatever came to hand. Or stick a thug and run like the wind:P
On here however, you can be quite sure I will keep an eye out, QV, for her. Not ON her, FOR her. No, I won't report behind her back things told in confidence, I am not a sneak like that, its a disgusting thing to do to someone, I'm not a cowardly little backstabbing Janus, but I will keep an eye open FOR the PR, and if she needs a guy at her back then she's got one. Anyone wants to give her shit, then they will of course have her to give them some in return, but they will also have me for backup. I'm not going to suck her ass ring, not about to brown-nose or get metaphorically pissed on (and before anyone says it, I wouldnt let her do it literally either) but I won't tear strips off her for having a pop at me either.
There, QV, that is my position. I'll treat her as a friend and my equal. Because, whilst a bilateral friendship has of course, yet to be established (and I do hope that there will be one to establish and let grow) I do indeed, regard her as my equal. And will NOT look down on, treat her or speak to her as a lesser being than I, any differences in ability I will accomodate, yes, but that is different. I simply mean that I would make the effort to make sure she doesn't feel as though she is being made fun of, looked on as inferior or less than me, worth less, just that if she needs something explaining, or needs assistance with something, she shall have it, assuming of course that she indeed wants it.
Known a lot of people with MR over my lifetime, grown up with them, have been friends with quite a lot of them, not all, unsurprisingly, and the odd few I couldn't fucking stand. But being a dick is being a dick, and some of the people in question were, well, not to put too fine a point on things, complete and utter smeg'eads:P, and out of those who were autistic and had MR, I've dated a fair few too. And of that subset, I treated those people as I'd wish myself to be treated.
So take from that, as you will QV/PR.
I'll certainly make her feel welcome should she come on I2, I've got her back, and, QV, the above^ is my position on things.
Other than this:
Regarding 'mental age'. Whilst in terms of chronological age, in this day and age it seems like every man and his damn dog is too much in love with age restrictions and discrimination based on duration of existence, there is some need for protection, in certain circumstances.
But once people reach whatever age, then discriminating against them due to personal opinion about them, is wrong. No two ways about it, it just isn't right. They have probably waited patiently to hit the relevant solar cycle numerical quantity, and then to be treated differently from others of their age due to judgements about quality, as opposed to quantity, thats bound to be hurtful and frustrating. And it is wrong.
Its giving the someone or someones in question the message that because they may be different, or deserving of some support that you lack confidence in them and that your not going to give them the chance to prove themselves at whatever it might be. And it is wrong. It is a resounding vote of no confidence, and it is belittling them.
And.
It is wrong.
edit: She just enjoys being a part of something in her own way.
Thanks! I am only going two days per week. It's all I can handle. More time for homework. ;)Is it his last year, Icequeen? I know he is a teenager but that's all.
Tomorrow I am going to college for Communications and Word Processing classes. They are quite easy.
I only wish.
1 more year after this one hopefully. That's if he doesn't blow it all off and basically shut down before mid-year like he did last year. :dunno:
Taking it one day at a time.
Good luck with your classes Ren, not sure I would have ever made it in college...you have my admiration.
Work in the office. It's nice meeting my colleagues again. :)

Hopefully, I will get my car back and drive it to the original place to fix their mess.
Also, my Sister wants to take the three recent birthday kids (youngest daughter, son, and myself) out for bowling.

I give that three days or three hours, depending on the project.

Well, it was worth a try.
I figured out why my debit card was declined today. I was being a spazz and trying to scan my credit card as a debit card instead. :asthing:
Mine will be 18 in March.
He's a little interested.
I honestly don't know how I feel about that.
Selfish maybe. This is the one place I can run to when I need to get away from everything and everyone, without literally running away (which I can't).
...and if I no longer have that? Where do I run then?
Tired. Worn down by non-forum shit.

Isn't this a variation of something you said last week?
BTW, I live in a glass house. Everything is dirty, messy, etc. I really need to get on the ball. Every day, I'm going to....... And I don't.

I've been saying it for years. Writer Barbara Sher has observed that a messy house makes a
handy excuse for someone afraid to move forward with challenges in her life. "I'll do that as soon as
I get this house in order!" becomes a stalling tactic that can waste decades of life. It's not good. :-\

I'll ponder on that. Just thought mine was the result of ADHD distraction.
Today I cleaned out one side of the sink, re-washed those items (PA was going blind and I had to check everything he washed and re-wash it without him knowing it.) Got bored and aggravated, so just did an Ineeditnow washing before.
This isn't really the right thread for this is it?
tomorrow I will clean the left side counter and the freezer. Garbage pick up is Tuesday. Look for something I thought I had found (nope, it was papers and documents from 2011).

I hate it.
And it gets worse. This whole thing is driven by somebody who read waaaaaay too much about Google's non-standard offices, and they are going to refurnish the floors with new monitors, desks, chairs, and so on, but *according to some weird notion of an agile working space*. Apparently, the lot of us content architects--and we are a dozen and a half or so--have a total of, count them, FIVE (5) desks nominally assigned to us. No-one is guaranteed a desk because people spend their time in meetings and agile discussions and whatnot, or that's the excuse at least, and so we shouldn't expect a fixed space.
Now, a lot of us work from home from time to time, some more than others, but this is going to kill any actual collaboration we do have in place. Most of us need a desk, a comfortable chair and a large monitor for the duration. We avoid meetings like the plague. Yes, we do have occasional chats and discussions, but most of the time, we actually produce, and this we do by sitting at our desks.
Fuck them all.
Thought that type of use of space had become outdated already, because it does not work.Had to look it up, and now realize it's basically sharing a big table. That's awful.
Was the hype a decade ago or so.

This is an excellent question. No answers have been provided yet.
Come monday, got to pay those moneygrubbing customs and excise thieving ratbastards sodding import duty on a load of glassware, bought a lot of new kit, that came as a full set, and it cost a fair bit, more than enough, because unfortunately the damned seller didn't understate the value. I just hope I don't have to pay it for both, because I have two new different sets of lab glass on the way, first couple of bits have arrived already, but theres something like 70-something pieces coming my way, not including the bits that have already arrived (a new still, and an alembic/retort, distillation, ye olde alchymist style, I've been busily coveting one of those for ages, and now I've got one :autism:

I always hated doing spreadsheets in class. And not least because excel is a M$ defacaetio...ahem...OFFERING, pardon.I need M$ version as it has to be compatible with what they have at college. At home we have the 2016 version and I am happy with that as Kayleigh pays for it. ;)
Always preferred to use the open versions of M$'s admin and other packages, from openoffice.
Just on principle if nothing else, to take the pound out of M$'s pockets. Although I suppose that principle becomes a little bent and squirrely if you'd not have been paying due to using pirated software in the first place if you were going to use microshite. Thats one thing, doing it and PAYING them for the software is another kettle of fish entirely.

Are you doing it non stop? For sleep, that is???
No idea. I have no NYE plans whatsoever :-\Me either, except I will probably watch the fireworks from the backyard. It's good living in the centre of town.
I'm going to eat a big pot of boiled stuff cooked by my momma. :orly: It's a southern tradition to eat cabbage and black-eyed peas on New Year's day, but she's going to make it a New England boil too and also make corned beef and potatoes. :woohoo:
The usual chips, dips and finger sandwiches for tonight.
Be one of the few people in the developed world without a hangover.I am too. I phoned my mum this morning to wish her and my stepdad a Happy New Year and she said they just went to bed at their regular time. So did I except I got woken up at midnight because of fireworks.

Teehee imagining me braiding hair. My sister is an expert at that as she learnt on her horse's tail.
I do these: (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p209/renaeden/P1010932.jpg)
As well as friendship bracelets and necklaces. I haven't actually done any for about a year now so I hope my friend will be forgiving about my slowness.
Wow, the third from the right has flowers! They are just zipper pulls. I have a few on the zips of my bag (for going out). The method is Kumihimo - Japanese braiding if you want to look that up.
I like them all, it's hard to pick a favourite. I like the colours of the first and second ones though. What are they?

That's expensive. I sold my zipper pulls at a friend's market stall before and charged $1 each. Sold a few. Thanks. They look similar to a type of friendship bracelet braiding. I like the bracelets you can get that have been done on a loom with different patterns. I still regret not having bought a union jack one years ago, it looked pretty and was handmade, I assumed at the time it was too expensive, but I really wanted it. It was £16 or something.
^Your youngest? Happy birthday to her.
Technically today, I'm going to eat cake and celebrate a sweet sixteen.

Wash some clothes
My to do list contains over 300 individual items. It's REALLY, REALLY detailed. (Do I sound like a president?) For example clean left counter, clean center counter, clean right counter, etc. It may seem counter productive and daunting to have so many "to dos", but if I have to stop after finishing part of the counters at least I can check off one or two tasks.

On days that I can't get myself going I make very details lists too. Washing in the machine, hang clean laundry, fold dry laundry, etc.
Have never had 300 things on my to do list for a day. Maybe I should make myself a more long term to do list like that. Looks like a smart move. Now there is stuff I keep postponing till the end of time.
I do always have room on my to do list for the sidetracked moments. When I do things that are not on my list, but needed doing and distracted me just did them in stead of other things. I write them down and tick them off. That means I do get credits for the things I did that weren't on my original list. Somehow that is motivating for me.
So sometimes I get credits for being distracted. :asthing: .
Alas, I don't get credits for making this post when I should be doing the last bit of my dishes.
It's tomorrow and I still don't know what I'm doing yet. :yawn::lol1:
Good luck with your colonoscopy. :)
You'll have a great time! :bee: Colonoscopies, yay!

Have you had a colonoscopy? I hope it wasn't bad. I'm going to be sedated! :orly:
Have fun getting knocked out and a stick stuffed up your bum couldbe :P
Although I daresay I've never known a person to use the phrase 'I can't wait to find out if I have polyps' before, especially not when referring to things growing up their backside like some sort of exotic arse-coral.
My stepdad went and played golf after his colonoscopy. Crazy.

I remember seeing some tv show about the suffragettes in England who were on hunger strikes. They would force feed them by inserting the tube through the nose.
Think I'm going to make an apple pie tomorrow. Finally bought myself some rum and I'm going to soak an handfull of raisins in it overnight, coming night. Got some Jonagold apples, some wallnuts and some dry cookies (leftover) to put on the bottom (upon the pre-shaped dough in the tin). Flour, eggs and lemon are in stock too.
Work. What else is new? I need time off.Yeah, a holiday. You have been working for ages.

Workman arriving at 8am and then after that, fresh pj's, hot tea, and bed. I suspect I've come down with strep throat.
I've had two colonoscopies. I was asleep before the test started, so didn't feel a thing. The only thing that's irksome about the prep is that I can't finish the cleanser. That amount of liquid makes me horribly nauseous. But the whole thing isn't that bad.
:plus:Workman arriving at 8am and then after that, fresh pj's, hot tea, and bed. I suspect I've come down with strep throat.
Take 2 Leonbergers and call us in the morning.
Finally take The PR to her new day situation. Got word very late Monday afternoon the paperwork was done. She'll continue with therapy Tues and Thurs, Magnolia Mon, Wed, Fri. Neither one is full time, but it gives me 26 hours of free time a week.

No he doesn't drive. He's one of those people who likes to walk/cycle everywhere. It worked well when he lived in the city but then we moved out to the country so now it's an 18km ride to work and there's lots of hills. Right now with the heat, and the fact that he works a physically demanding job with no air conditioning, I offer to drive him in and pick him up. But he's going to go back and get his license again. He had it for ages and then just let it expire because he never used it.Can your SO not drive?Same. Very good for both of you :hug:Finally take The PR to her new day situation. Get up at bumfuck to take a flight across the country.Good luck with moving. Must be weird to have your life so drastically changed within a month.
Wait on a delivery.
Yeah and the process they use is vague. They're calling tonight and will give me a delivery number. If I get something like #4, I'll know it's in the morning. If I get #14, more towards the middle of the afternoon. It's all rather vague which I find really annoying. I'd much prefer a 2 hour window, like "we'll be there between 1-3 pm."Wait on a delivery.
Sounds like fun.

Find a way to speak in Toronto and I will take you out for dinner and beer and not touch you and talk awkwardly :laugh:Why the detour? Picking up a package on the way to London?
I'm speaking at a conference in DC and then spending the rest of the week listening to others. It's sort of a geek holiday. Then, the week after, it's my week in the office in London. I thought there was little point in going home in between.

Work, come home and hurriedly cook some dinner so I can go to the pub over the fence and watch GoT on their big screen.
They've been playing all of season 7 each week so far and I only just found out :GA:.
Finally, something that will motivate me to go over to the pub (I've literally been there 3 times in the 6 years I've been living here).

Take SO to the hospital for his surgery.I may have missed something on the board. Is your SO having surgery on his arm that he hurt at work?
Yes. We thought it could heal on its own but when we saw the specialist he said he needed surgery asap because if he doesn't he'll lose all of the strength in his bicep plus the ability to rotate his hand to do things. It's his dominant arm too.Take SO to the hospital for his surgery.I may have missed something on the board. Is your SO having surgery on his arm that he hurt at work?

Apparently a half cast for 8 weeks I think? The surgeon will remind me again today. And then physio for 4 weeks. Overall we're looking at 8-12 months for a full heal. It's a bigger deal than we had originally thought. I think he's off work for 8 weeks as well and then modified until he's fully healed. He has a very physically demanding work that requires a lot of upper body strength (he works in a factory) so it will be a long time before he's back to doing what he was doing before. Thanks for that. I have been attending a clinic of physical therapists for my back problems since January.
Is that similar? Sounds a bit similar.
They are trying to get me to lose twenty pounds of "core weight" and honestly, I am much stronger in the middle than when I started, but I have only lost about ten pounds after two months. They reinforce my effort by calling it progress.

Hospital food of any sort sucks arse ren. Never been in a psych ward, but hospital food is repulsive swill. Last time I was in hospital (bar the recent occasion when I passed out and hit my head) the food was so horrendous I just couldn't eat any of it, with the sole exception of bowls of custard, and dry cereal. The rest was just one long inedible sensory nightmare, and I went hungry, bar a meal every few days. Well I say a meal, a bowl of watery custard or rice pudding.Last time I was in hospital, I must have gained a fair bit of weight because the food was good (apart from steamed Brussels sprouts - just can't make myself eat those) and being on quetiapine and lithium turned my stomach into a bottomless pit so I ate so much. I'm hungry again and I had dinner tonight.

Kind of jealous. I have been to the Chicago show twice, but not in twelve years. I know, everything has changed in twelve years, but that is why I NEED TO GO, again.

^But I can tell you that they demoed some awesome speakers.
^But I can tell you that they demoed some awesome speakers.
Speakers have made leaps and bounds lately, especially if you look at the distortion specs, no longer ten or fifteen to twenty percent distortion.
Did you see any new tube amplifiers?
I am still enjoying my Decware tube amps (have you been to that website?), but I also use some vintage Yamaha for my movie rig subwoofer system.
Heh! my old man built himself a tube amp a while back., started from scratch. Used to see him getting up early in the morning, straight to his breakfast and onto the computer screen firing up his circuit diagrams and working out his schematics then going to build them, until eventually he had himself a tube amp. Although he's not actually used it ot play much guitar. I figure he's got a fair autistic streak in him. Just like I do with my chemistry, always scribbling down ntotes., the odd (sometimes VERY odd) train of thought..and then it's off to the lab and start poking around.
I'm going to be checking my email later tomorrow/techically today, but either fuckint way.

There were quite a few of them. Many high-end speaker manufacturers used tube amps when demoing, of course.

It's great fun. Most of the gear is out of my price range but one can dream, right? There were speakers that were more affordable, too.
Also, there was this Swedish audio geek who had built everything himself. Speakers, amps, everything. Sounded great, very balanced, great dynamics.
That's a lot of bulbs. Would like to see them in bloom.
This week I have bought about six hundred spring flowering bulbs to help replace the many I have lost to odd weather patterns over the past couple of years.
Need to get them in the ground.

That represents just some that I have lost recently. I have been planting hundreds of bulbs every year for twenty plus years. I posted pics in the past.
I plan to get three hundred or so more, assuming my back holds up to this challenge. I kind of tweaked it yesterday while loading up sixteen bags of mulch. I use pine in the ground for its acidic properties. Later I usually have a "friend" who runs a commercial landscaping company come by with his crew and, in about an hour, distribute three cubic yards of his composted mulch around the yard.
I just want to get back to my former glory with regards to having the most colorful yard in the neighborhood once spring finally pops.

Nice. A quick Google image search shows a really beautiful course.
In Sweden do you use red golf balls so you can find them in the snow? :)
Driving ranges tend to dye their golf balls, Lestat. If there is a driving range at the golf course that would probably explain at least one of the non-white colours you are seeing.

I have a lot to do and I don't know how the order should be. I have to take my friend to the doctors, pick up my glasses, get petrol, go to a chiropractor appointment, take Kayleigh to art group (that I usually go to as well), go to a GP appointment and pick Kayleigh up.That is a lot. I had a day like that on Tuesday. I usually look at what the logical order would be given where everything is located. Maybe start with petrol because if you run out, the rest won't matter :P ;)
I'm getting my day off that I needed. I'm going to spend the day resting and reading.Doing the same. I have a pot of freshly steeped tea and ginger nuts. Want some? There's dark chocolate in various flavours in the tin in the bookshelf too.
I'm not sure I'll get to my friend's place in time to pick her up if I get petrol first. The petrol stations around here are usually full in the morning. So my friend is first, then petrol. Then glasses because it is near where I'll get petrol. Kayleigh is after that, then the chiropractor.Chiropractor and optometrist both working on a Sunday? Or am I missing up time here?

*offers the kitty lady a handful of bananas from the couple of bunches he got from the shop yesterday, as well as a choice between chocolate milkshake, co-op pink grapefruit juice, a can of coke, sorry the coke is diet shit, but you can always chuck some real sugar in it too. Or if you don't mind waiting, I'll be doing either a bowl of porridge made with molasses on top and real butter stirred in, as well as light brown sugar an extra salt with the milk and oats as I cook it, or else I might make a stuffed-crust pizza with extra cheese, added to an already good and generously be-cheese-ified coop brand double pepperoni pizza. And of course I'd be happy to share a few generous slices with you miss K.Diet Coke and pizza?? Yes please
Also eating some really high cocoa dark chocolate, with bits of sea-salt embedded throughout it.

I have a meet and greet appointment with my new doctor.I haven't heard of a meet and greet with a doctor before. I hope he or she is exactly the kind of doctor you're looking for.
It's new to me too. I met her briefly earlier in the year in a walkin clinic. When I moved back to town, I went to a local walkin and they said they had a file on me which made no sense because I hadn't been there before. When I moved away in 1995 that building didn't exist. I asked them what phone number they had for me and they told me and it was a number I hadn't had since 1995. So that freaked me out and I couldn't figure out why they had that info. Turns out my childhood doctor that I had from the second grade up until I left for Uni, they built a new medical centre and he's there now but close to retiring. The doctor I ended up seeing in the clinic is the woman who is taking over his practice so I'm choosing her. From our brief interaction at the clinic, I liked her.I have a meet and greet appointment with my new doctor.I haven't heard of a meet and greet with a doctor before. I hope he or she is exactly the kind of doctor you're looking for.
That's so important to have a good rapport with your doctor. I've been seeing my current one for over 10 years. He doesn't specialise in mental health but he kind of does for me. In his lovely Irish accent, he tells me, "You can tell me anything. I'm like a sponge." I've gone to him when I've been at my lowest and he even spoke to my psychiatrist on my behalf.I'm so glad you have a good doctor. It really does make a world of a difference.
Bit spooky about your records.
Tomorrow I will take some photos of myself and post them on Intensity.
The PR is especially blessed to have some wonderful doctors.Monkeyboy will age out of his Dev Ped this year and I will truly miss him.
Her primary care doctor has been PA and my doctor since the early 1990s. He's seeing her for what Medicare will pay. He also paid for 3 months of gym with the understanding that he would pay for a whole year is she kept it up, which she didn't.
Her neurologist is new, but he seems really warm. He hugs her whenever he sees her at the clinic.
The dentist lives across the street, gives her a discount and lets her pay off her bill monthly.
The after hours clinic has a nurse that belongs to a church that PA went to.
I'm FB friends with her old pediatrician.
The NP who manages her mental health meds is really capable, sweet and is patient with her.

Hope you feel better soon, hun, and that the belated xmas dinner is enjoyed, even if it does have vegetables in it. And happy new year :)

It was the father's brother. Took him years to recover.
If things go to plan (ha!) none of it will involve having to leave the house :odeon:Well, at least I got to hold on to the hope for 5 hours before I realized it wouldn't happen. :P
Continue clearing the house. You don't quite realize how much it weighs on your mind until you've got the unit emptied. It's a relief and a bit of money saved.
Honestly folks, it's not that bad. It's just that I only have the emotional stamina and concentration to do it for 30 minutes at a time. But I managed to do 60 minutes today. If I can do 90 minutes tomorrow the living and dining rooms should be cleared enough to bring in the stuff in the storage unit.
I know, I know. But I've been paying since 2003 and I need to get the stuff out.

bood test. fasting blood test. this is really gonna fun
for one thing i get into a funk at the sight a needle. can take any amount of pain, as a rule, but needles? eek! and no use looking away and pretending it isn't happening because you can feel it happening can't you?
for another, i have "difficult veins" and they get all the more difficult when scared,
for a third , i can't fast for longer thasn five hours without becomiing increasing ill: muscle cramps, brain going AWOL, seizures etc. Luckily, my body nearly always wakes me up after five hours sleep, so i can stuff one of those snacks that i keep next to my bed down my neck. i'm gonna have to hide those snacks from myself tonight. aren't i?
so i'm kinda hoping that i'll be so out of it, after ten hours fasting, i'll forget to be afraid of the needle. bet i won't be THAT far out of it , though, i just wish.
ah, well, by tomorrow afternoon this is gonna all be in the past, dunno if i'll feel up to posting though. experience says that i'll prolly be a zombie for the next three days after all that fasting. wish me luck !
for another, i have "difficult veins" and they get all the more difficult when scared,
thanks :) and thanks to QV :)for another, i have "difficult veins" and they get all the more difficult when scared,
I have those difficult veins as well. Hope they find one at the first try.
done *phew*I didn't either last time I went for a blood test. They couldn't get it from the crook of my elbows. Then they saw the back of my hand. The veins stand out there.
but i didn't get a sticker and a lollipop for being a brave girl

Pray to the gods that I get to keep my day off
Seriously. I cancelled all of my clients until the new year as all except one are in relatively good places. The exception is in avoidance mode now anyway so I know she wouldn't want to meet with me. So I think I actually CAN turn my phone off if both kids are home. If not I keep it on so the youngest can reach me if she's at her Dad's but I silence all of my other messages.Pray to the gods that I get to keep my day off

Tomorrow I'm going to wait for the report from the delivery driver.
SO: What are we expecting?
Me: What?
*smash*
Dude was backing into my driveway and his backup camera didn't kick in and as the SO asked me what we were expecting, he drove right into my van. It was hard enough and loud enough to hear it inside the house but surprisingly I have little damage. Small dent, paint scratch. His whole bumper is loose though.
But damn if it didn't cue an instant stress headache.

D&D? Is that still a thing?Indeed. My home is a regular host to a group for Saturday night D&D.
D&D? Is that still a thing? It is. We were playing Fantasy Age but we as players were making it hard for Kayleigh to come up with more adventures. We kept going on tangents and changing stuff. With D&D it's a bit more rigid. Not that tangents can't happen, but they are less likely.
It's been a long time since I last participated in any RPG.Was just thinking the same. I loved it in Uni.
Wondering if GURPS is still a thing. We played that a lot back in the day.
I have a phone meeting. Ugh. :zombiefuck:another one?!? You need to negotiate less phone meetings into your contract

The fly spray we have is useless, they just fly a bit slower then they perk up again after a while.
Thanks, Phoenix. That's a great site. We don't like spraying in the kitchen or near the cat food so those suggestions are appealing. Attempt to arrange childcare trades with coworkers. Are they still asking you to go into work or are you working from home? I know the numbers aren't as high on the west coast. Trudeau is supposed to give an update at 1pm EST today.
Actually go to the shops and buy groceries because Coles has stopped home delivery. We've been getting everything delivered for months so this will be a change.I tried to order groceries for Tuesday and the first opening they had was Friday.

RIGHT?!? It's the same here. Getting a weeks worth of food to feed a family is problematic. SO went to 4 shops yesterday and got only a quarter of the list.Actually go to the shops and buy groceries because Coles has stopped home delivery. We've been getting everything delivered for months so this will be a change.
Apparently they've also imposed limits on frozen goods. Notice how they don't impose these limits until AFTER a particular range of items have all been picked clean from the shelves and become difficult to get? They never in their right mind would do it pre-emptively ::)
Ren is your country not on self quarantining?I don't think so. The Salvos' job is to serve the community, as I was told by my supervisor. We had quite a few customers, but a little less than usual. I had to wash my hands often because I was processing donations and hanging clothes. I may have a great immune system just by working there.
Our Salvos closed immediately because of the virus and so many things arriving from so many places. That's bizarre that they're keep yours open. It's back to work for me. Worried they might put the project on hold for a while, though, or even cancel it altogether. Fucking virus. Is there any kind of expectation for people to stay home or is it mostly business as usual? You guys are just above us in the number of cases.

Anyone else in quarantine forgetting which day of the week it is??
I agree. Today only essential services is open but when you look at the list it's over 70 different types of businesses and some of the fields are quite broad. I get that they need to keep vulnerable people taken care of (senior, retirement, group homes), healthcare and all the supplies running, manufacturers that make the supplies for other essential businesses running. But the list is so vast that I was trying to think of what wouldn't be open because that seems to be smaller list. It's back to work for me. Everyone who is able to is expected to work from home. Businesses cut down on staff and people are being laid off. That latter category now includes me since my client postponed the project I was part of. Hopefully there's more work coming up but everything seems to be on pause now.
So no; it's nowhere near business as usual.
The number of cases is going up but so far the powers that be seem to think the current restrictions are enough. I happen to disagree. I believe draconian measures are needed pretty much all over Europe if we are to save lives and not overwhelm the healthcare system.
I might do some stuff around the house. :P:lol1:

My first neurology appt is tomorrow morning. They can't have anyone in the office so we're doing it via teleconference.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to it but super nervous because I hate teleconferencing even with people I know let alone a doctor I've never met before. And the appt is at 9am so I can get it over with first thing. Less time for anxiety to build.
Really glad I decided to test out the space I was planning on sitting at to see how it looked in the background. The youngest took a felt board with the stick on letters that had HB's name and mine and rearranged the letters to say "And Satan MD". I adore that child. She totally has my sense of humour but glad I caught it early. :lol1:
Oh it got better from there! From the waist up I was great, wearing a grey v neck knit shirt. Totally did NOT expect the doctor to ask if he could see me head to toe to do a neurological exam via teleconference and I was like uhm....and he says if the space is too small I understand! Me: No, the space is fine but I wasn't prepared for this and I'm wearing Minion PJ pants. He busted out laughing. So I did my exam in my Minion PJ pants. :facepalm2:Thanks.
I think things around the house. That sounds like a good idea. :P
Tidy my bedroom. It's getting cluttered and I'm a minimalist. Take the washing off the line, fold and put away.
I think on Monday I'll try and do the whole go to the shops ridiculously early with my pension card thing. We have run out of kitchen antibacterial wipes and are running really low on hand wash liquid in the bathroom.
I use Dove Beauty Bar for hand washing because it doesn't dry out your skin.I use it in the shower, it smells nice.

Gary, do you use one of those fancy exfoliating wash things (I really can't think of the word for them) to pour the soap on then wash yourself with? I tried that and found they didn't dry out properly and started to smell icky after a short time. So it was back to the bar soap.
Yesterday I reorganized the pantry and tomorrow I'm going to make an inventory list.So that didn't happen today. Hopefully tomorrow.

How did you critter proof it, DD? It seems like the mice out here can get into anything.
Excellent. I'll have to show this to HB. We have the same critters and issues and we could get more use out of our garage beyond using it for HB's tools if we could critter proof it. Our garage is original to the house (1950's) and simply swings forward and up. The raccoons are strong enough to lift it enough to get in. But it's not big enough to park the car in so we use it as a workspace currently. How did you critter proof it, DD? It seems like the mice out here can get into anything.
We have mice outside, but we also have ants, 'possums, raccoons, blackbirds of all kinds, all of which I have caught in my garage if I leave dry goods sit on a shelf for too long with the door open.
As far as the ants and mice, I built it out of "Melamine" board which is particle board with a thin plastic "formica" layer on each side. I also used some scrap unbent guttering roll of flat sheet metal, about sixteen inches up all the way around the bottom. I glued every seam and screwed it all together, Kind of hard to chew through and anywhere they try there will be evidence.
The ants also get a type of window sealing weatherstrip to contend with.
The doors close onto a rubber gasket. Getting all that worked out and a great double fence latch adjusted to keep it all tight will foil the birds, raccoons and hopefully all the chipmunks as well.
Start sorting the stuff in the shed to make room for stuff in my storage unit I want to get rid ofI did something similar. Threw out some of Kayleigh's stuff. Sshhh, don't tell her. ;)
Cleaning and organzingSame.
I would love a basement. Heck, even a spare room would be good. We have a storage room outside but it's tiny.We have a backsplit and bought this house specifically so we can live here until we die. Everything but the washer/dryer is on one floor but we could fix that later if we want.
Have to sort out a laptop I was provided by the client. They basically sent me someone's old Mac, wiped of the old data and with only the sysadmin's account on it. Not sure what they expect me to do since they provided no login credentials or anything like that.

Going to meet a friend for a coffee by the foreshore.
Groups of up to 10 are allowed now. There's still no seating at any cafés and restaurants so we'll take away. On my way home I saw little kids and their parents come out of a day care centre. I didn't think they'd be open this soon.Going to meet a friend for a coffee by the foreshore. Is that allowed now in WA?

Meal plan and lament in my head how cooking for a family every day is a lot of work (even when they help) and I'm very much over it at times. :laugh:Crock pot was a best friend during the winter, being perfect weather for hot pots of stuff. That's a pretty good idea. I like to relax and do mindfulness in the shower though. When I'm done, sometimes I'll spray Shower Power in there. Jack saw a youtube video where someone suggested keeping a dish scrubber in the shower, the kind that holds soap in the handle. They said after they bathe, they give the shower a quick scrub while they're in there, and since it gets a little scrub often then it never needs a big scrubbing. It's a smart idea, but seriously, can't I just relax and take a shower? I guess not. Oh well, I'm clean and so is the grout. :zoinks:

Mostly in the corners and below the soap dish.Personally think most cleaning products are a bit of a racket and only use three things regularly, so spend very little on them. Though did buy a shower spray for this experiment, since the all purpose solution used has to be mixed fresh often.

That's many good reasons to move. I hope you find a nicer place this time. :)We like it, but, we don't love it! Some black mold has been sighted, the heating system is crap and fails at the worst times. It's working now, but, for how long? And the big red flag, is our Landlords health. He has multiple problems, the latest being Liver Cancer. He's older than me, but, we wonder how long before he sells out the place and we would have to move anyway. See if I can reset the computer system on the washing machine. I NEVER thought washing machines would have computers, did you?Still have yet to meet a fancy washing machine which would want to replace an old school top loader with agitator.

I see. The oldest has a fancy top loader which can be started remotely, though not sure why anyone would need to do that. Not sure if it's the lack of agitator or it's a bit too water conservative, but it doesn't seem to do a very good job.See if I can reset the computer system on the washing machine. Mine is a top loader with an agitator. I try to keep things simple. I can remember my Mom's washing machine that had a glass window in the door and the clothes would just tumble as they washed. For some reason it fascinated me.
Lest you think I'm a bit too old fashioned, I wouldn't have a wringer washing machine. I caught my arm in one when I was a toddler. That was one of the few times my Mom freaked out. No damage beyond bruising, but crushing injury could have cost me my arm.
Same shit, different day... Basically.Welcome back.

Have a blood test, hope they will easily find a vein. It's for lithium level and kidney function.Well I would have done this if I hadn't gotten up and taken my meds including lithium. Because for lithium level to be tested, I have to note when I take it at night and then not take it in the morning before the test. This morning I forgot to not take it.
Go to work, get home, cope, and then get started on continuing the revision/rewrite/polishing of my manuscript.

Already did... I found a Blu-Ray/DVD steelbook combo of a Japanese film called Millenium Actress off of Amazon... it's supposed to come to my parent's house by Tuesday.
I've never heard of that film but that's an excellent present to yourself. :)
I'll be doing the same thing I do every Monday - volunteering then work.
I don't get paid for time off anymore. I used to be permanent part-time. Now I'm a contractor which means I have to give work an invoice every two weeks and I don't get paid if I take holidays or sick leave. I haven't had time off from there for nearly two years except for Christmas and New Year's.
I'm officially a cleaner. I sanitize a building with 14 offices, a reception area and a kids gym. I wipe down desks, keyboards, mice, phones, kiddie tables and cupboard/drawer/door handles. I also empty all the bins into one big wheelie bin. It's quite a physical job but it only takes 1.5 hours every weeknight.I don't get paid for time off anymore. I used to be permanent part-time. I've cleaned toilets and such before. It's not fun and I don't blame you for wanting to work somewhere else. It's basically what I do at Walmart, only I clean and wash up the restrooms... and it's about 5 hours or so per shift.I'm officially a cleaner. Basically, twiddle my thumbs all night and until the hospital calls to let me know I can come over into the recovery room after my wife's surgery.
I checked her in to the hospital this morning to spend the day and night with bags of this and that kind of super hydration, electrolytes, and that messy named 'cillen thing again.
The BIG surgery is to happen early tomorrow. They tell there is nothing more to worry about. Does that ever work for you?

I understand from previous conversations that your early studies were in the area of physics, maybe?
If so, then you know you can not have two dissimilar metals touch without some interaction occuring. Attempting to pass even a micro level current between them speeds up this unending process.

When will you have the cleaning? :orly: I used to be bad about not taking care of myself, not visiting doctors or dentists. I had to have a deep cleaning once due to avoiding the dentist for too long. They've since had me on a cleaning schedule that's more frequent than usual to avoid that in the future because I'm terrible about not flossing. :dunno:
It's heeeeeeere!!!

Nah, get out. Take your bird for a walk. Or take a cat for a walk.
Have you seen these backpack safety cages for pets that can allow you to bring out delicate animals for an outdoor trip?
I know the cat one works great and she really enjoyed her trips out and away from normal routines. She would actually come and get me and sit in the cage when she wanted to head out.

We need to buy new shelves. The ones we had in the lounge room didn't take too well to being moved and then being exposed to dampness. So they're all wobbly. They were cheap ones so it was to be expected. I'm hoping we can afford better quality shelves. Kayleigh asked me to have a look at the Salvos yesterday while I was there. But no, they didn't have anything.
I have a box or two of my belongings out there and there are books too but most of the rest is Kayleigh's.
Up at 330am to go to the flea market
Not quite. There's still boxes outside that I can't bring in because of Kayleigh's crates of junk. There's six of them and she needs to sort them out but won't because of inertia. I tire of all the work I've had to do but i have a lot more self discipline than Kayleigh does.Nice. Almost back to normal then?Yep, walls are painted, floor has been laid. Finally finished.Sleep in. And since literally no one who lives in this entire fucking house can wash ONE DISH I'm going to be doing that as well. Shoot me.

Hopefully hit up the stores for after Christmas sales. This is when I get my Christmas cards and ribbons and paper for next year.
Tomorrow I'm taking Kayleigh to the hospital for her colonoscopy. I didn't think they would do it until next year but I was wrong. It's too far away from home to be able to wait there so I'm going to bring a couple of books with me. I can see some boredom happening though.

I love wrapping presents. I must have on hand at least half a dozen variations on papers, and I'm picky about designs. There must be coordinated ribbons and gift tags. It's an artistic imperative. :Pomg, I love wrapping too. Once I even did volunteer present wrapping at a shopping centre. And I enjoyed it!

Get home from work, sleep, and not feeling depressed :(
Volunteer at the Salvos as is normal for a Monday. However, us volunteers may be sent home early as it's supposed to get to 40°C and there's no air conditioning in the back area where I and a few others work.Didn't get sent home.
