Title: Is intensity growing up at last?
Post by: Walkie on February 10, 2015, 11:48:23 PM
I know, I know, I shouldn't temp fate.

But hey! I'm getting to really like it round here cos It looks to me like all the really tedious trolls have gone away.

Hmm, no, I won't name anybody. That could work like talking of the Devil , couldn't it.

What happened? And to whomever or whatever made it happen:    :2thumbsup:

I must confess, I am quite liking it at the present time, although I am still nervous of posting too many topics.
I was actually originally just going to read and lurk, and never again post.
But... I got caught in my lurking  :lol1:

Glad to see that you got caught in your lurking.

You and Walkie are from before my time. It is good to see both of you posting. Only knew your names from popping up now and then.

Wow!

I've just been looking up some board stats.

Site was founded on All fools Day, 2006.  :2thumbsup:

I joined in June , same year when we had less than 100 members.

Hmm, I've kinda been thinking of myself as a forum noob all this time.

March 2007 for me... I always was late to the party, lol.
Same thing with Second Life... I was always slightly irritated I was not around when it first started.

I am liking it tame, though it is certainly a lot quieter than I remember it being back in '07. I guess a lot of forums go through a year or two when they are at their peak and then it wanes over time.

^Like managing money? Taking care of offspring?

Money managing is something I have become better at.

Managing money never was a problem. For my own sake I am really stingy, for others pretty generous, but I am always able to pay my bills, if I am the only one with access to the money. I did have the caring bit from the start too.

But, forms and paperwork I am slowly maturing in. I'll try more and more to do them without help, and if it freaks me out, I now will get help, instead of deciding to let it be if it would bring me gain, and freak out completely if it would cost me, if I did not do things right.

Also maturing a bit when it comes to letting go.

Don't think I will mature in humour, in sillyness, and in becoming a really regulated person when it is about bedtimes and such.

@ Graelwyn, I am ten years ahead of you, and I am famous for my farts.  :hyke:

Hmm. I regard everybody who's posted on this page as grown-up ( well, compared with your average troll, at least)
But then i clearly have an an idiosynchratic view of what "grown-up" means" *chuckle*

eg, "Grown up" to me means not giving a damn about whether other people perceive you as grown-up.  Not giving a shit for "dignity" . But caring very much about the impact of your actions instead.

I've noticed that NTs often apply a polar opposite definition. (That would be on account of their superior empathy, I guess. )

By your definition I've been a grown up for a very long time. To the massive embarrassment of a toddler who did not want to walk outside with her mother.... Thank goodness she outgrew that. She now does not mind being seen with me.

I still struggle with controlling my money and paperwork, I have a bad habit of casting it aside and forgetting about it, or putting it off repeatedly. I don't know what it is about paperwork, but it just seems to instantly put me in an irritable mood.

Also, is the issue with regulating bedtimes and the like a common aspie issue?
I seem to always end up getting stuck in a routine of staying up all night, and missing half the day or worse.
I get really frustrated about it, as to me, I should be perfectly capable of controlling when I do things.

I can bear it, but I do not like to drink a lot. One, sometimes two amounts of alcohol is enough.
If I drink more, I do not get disorderly drunk, I do not get a hangover, but I will be sleepless all night, and I just don't like what it is doing to how I feel at home in my own body.

Have had a few times when half a glass was enough to get me drunk.

My mum is the same. It can be a great laugh.

Like the time when she came home from the office christmas party and wished us all a happy birthday, before crashing out

Sadly, she's too aware of her limits, so this kind of thing doesn't happen very often.

Have had a few times when half a glass was enough to get me drunk.

For me it is a very rare thing to happen. And I am always somehow still in control. Maybe that is what makes lots of alcohol unpleasant. Me fighting to be in control, while everything else in me wants to take over uncontrollably.

That's pretty much why I totally gave up drinking long ago, hyke. I realised that I much preferred being in control of all my faculties...ummm, in as much as i ever actually am, that is    given that most people tend to think i'm the drunkest person at the party anyway... :apondering:

When I was young it was different. Life was far too painful. Drinking took the edge off it, and helped me to pass as happy-ish, some of the time.

I did like the effects of cannabis. It helped me physically relaxing. Sometimes I miss it. But it also made me let it be in cases where I should have stood up for myself more.
Who knows, one of these days I may give my muscles a massive treat with a slice of space cake.

Y'all are parasites.

And yes, Jack, one shot. (Plus one cider.) I am not a big drinker.
Okay, two drinks then. Usually stick to one myself, as two is usually too much for me too.

three-some??   :autism:

Excuse me for obsessing,

But i'm thinking we can possibly add  a problem with  metabolising alcohol to the list of common aspie metabolism issues, hmm?

Speak for yourself.  I drink like a world-class champion.   :viking:

Possum doesn't strike as stupid.

Neither does Rebecca Watson... at first.  It's only when you interact with them some that the stupid begins to manifest.
