I am pondering why threads in games keep getting locked
I was pondering if that was the new game. Lock and get unlocked and locked again.
It's like those other new games I do not get, but that are mildly amusing anyway.

I'm still pondering the wisdom of digging up a dead Pope and putting his dead body on trial. How could anyone think that was a good idea?

I think that it was eight or nine months after he died. Surely he stank?

Almost all of the recent locked threads were started by Adam, if that's a hint.

It's not mysterious at all. You keep locking them.

I think there needs to be a third party investigation on the matter.

I am pondering what Whitney Houston died of.

Drugs perhaps.

Maybe alcohol as well. She was seen in public Thursday and appeared disheveled.

Modern entertainment is not always stench free, and can bring bowels in uproar too.

Alcohol is a drug. ;) I think it was a heroin overdose or prescribed pills mixed with alcohol or all. Was she still married to Bobby Brown?

i have been too. well, the female equivalent. My libido has been in overdrive lately. Been like, oh 2 years now :D

Same here. They say men peak at 18, but that has not been the case for me.

I'm pondering how glad I am that I no longer have the night job.
We had to wear T-shirts with the restaurant logo and I'm too fat for mine! :snowman:

Seems to me they usually peak about a week before I start sleeping with them.

It's ever-diminishing, but I do hold the hope of someday meeting a guy I can have a committed, romantic relationship with, and still have frequent, good sex and physical intimacy. Well, at least loneliness depressed me enough that my sex drive's mostly dead anyway.

Assume there is a troll. If you need 3 things for a fire: heat, fuel and oxygen, then:
Troll = fuel
Membership = fire
Internet = oxygen?
Or is it some other way around?

Hm. I would say:
Troll = heat
Membership = fuel
Internet = oxygen
Drama = fire

Okay, this is sort of a tangled ponderance. What happens to the sound waves sound-proofing absorbs? Is it kept until the stuff is full and will leak out slowly as more noise comes in? Does it ever go out the back or only the front? Always perplexed me.
-
Absorbing sound spontaneously converts part of the sound energy to a very small amount of heat in the intervening object (the absorbing material), rather than sound being transmitted or reflected.

Oh, so maybe all the radio and cell phone waves are the real source of global warming? Verbose politicians?

Yes, that's it. Every time a politician makes empty promises, a kitten dies.

I was just being a smartass, fitting an airplane wing into a living room sounded like
a comical prank. My father built two marimbas in our cellar. Projects are cool. :thumbup:

Creepy enough, you could probably make a fortune out of that. Just a minute amount of minerals in a sachet, and sell it as the perfect addition to make de-mineralised water into a very healthy drink.
Will appeal to many a germaphobe, and, by selling different 'flavours', for different situations, you could create a whole group of posh connoisseurs.
:nerdy:
The Royal seal of Queen Victoria will be helpful of course. (Especially on the mineral blend to increase fertility)

Wondering if it is the old or the new neighbours I hear next door.
And pondering on what the new ones will be like.
Don't like adapting to new sounds. :P
But as long as I do not have to adapt on new scents, it should be OK.
Unless new neighbour is one of those loud and lousy music players. :hide:

Pondering what to get my sister for her birthday. She is the type that has everything because she is very well-off.
-
You could get her something that doesn't last and always is good to have.
Luxurious sunscreen? Package of bathing foam and a luffa? Or some gorgeous flowers, the Dutch option, where ever we go. But in your heated summers flowers will not even last a week I guess. So, maybe not the best plan. Strawberryplants in a pot?
-
But for flowers, those are some good suggestions, thanks! Will be going shopping on Thursday.

Pondering on how Luna and Lorre are doing. And what kind of critter Lorre is.
Lorre seems to have had scraps for food mainly, he is crazy about food and expects food from us whenever we eat. He also becomes aggressive towards Luna when I feed both of them. Even when he eats in another space, whenever he can sneak out, he will. I also lock him in the kitchen for the night. Luna needs a sense of safety in her house.
Luna is backing off a bit too much.
Hope they'll do better together in a few weeks.

Dry food in a dispenser would probably solve the problem by giving Lorre access to food anytime, thus
easing his anxiety about scarcity. But with mice an issue in your area, you might not want to do that. :CanofWorms:
-
With how Lorre now already is fattening up, I would not want to risk that. He needs some behavioral adjustments. He is obsessed the moment he smells dairy too. Also tries to nick our food from our plates. Even after just having finished his own food.
This guy has issues.

Pondering self-pity and old grudges and their limiting effects upon a life. :apondering:
-
Type that has everything? vaccinations and some broad spectrum antibiotics then ren.
Pondering that after my last appointment with the eye hospital, following up that base burn, that its a fucking nuisance having to put steroid drops in my eye twice a day, just dropped from 3xdaily, and having to continuously use the hylo-forte (hyaluronic acid sodium salt 0.2%, a lubricant and moisture retentive basically.) as often as 15 minutely, if I used it as often as they'd like. Needed it for sure at first now it seems at least like I need that a lot less, the lubricant. And had some refraction testing done, seems like I will be able to get fitted for glasses, soon on their timescale that is. Some of the lense testing really seemed to improve my sight. Was told that I might even be able to get some personal protective equipment, things like goggles and blast shields, full-face masks etc with corrective lenses. Although was told 'employer should provide', but did manage I think to explain that I AM my employer, sort of, in that I freelance. Thing is, I can't wear glasses certainly with a half-face mask, as a complete seal is really important in having the mask work. If its not drawing air exclusively through the pair of filter canisters sticking out either side then it isn't doing its job and its letting whatever it is I want to filter be breathed in. Which of course is unacceptable if you need a gas mask on in the first place. Unless the only reason its being worn is nuisance level filtration of things that just smell bad or you personally have a thing about really disliking. But you don't want that happening in say a procedure involving distillation of something like chromyl chloride, chlorine gas, anhydrous ammonia, iodine monochloride, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide gas and worse besides. The kind of things that your protective equipment is whats keeping you alive during your work.

Shit, this was so long ago, I've been in a relationship for over 3 years, and I could have written it yesterday. That's depressing.
Who the fuck was I even dating or trying to date when I wrote that, anyway?

This poem I recently received from a very dear old friend.
A little something from a very dear friend of ours, Beverly A.....a very spot on poem that reminded her of me....
The Layers
I have walked through many lives,
some of them my own,
and I am not who I was,
though some principle of being
abides, from which I struggle
not to stray.
When I look behind,
as I am compelled to look
before I can gather strength
to proceed on my journey,
I see the milestones dwindling
toward the horizon
and the slow fires trailing
from the abandoned camp-sites,
over which scavenger angels
wheel on heavy wings.
Oh, I have made myself a tribe
out of my true affections,
and my tribe is scattered!
How shall the heart be reconciled
to it's feast of losses?
In a rising wind
The manic dust of my friends,
those who fell along the way,
bitterly stings my face.
Yet I turn, I turn,
exulting somewhat,
with my will intact to go,
wherever I need to go,
and every stone on the road
precious to me.
In my darkest night
When the moon was covered
and I roamed through wreckage,
a nimbus-clouded voice
directed me:
"Live in the layers,
not on the litter."
Though I lack the art
to decipher it,
no doubt the next chapter
in my book of transformations
is already written.
I am not done with my changes.

Ground Elder may be a nuisance. But growing older I appreciatie the calming effect on a racing mind, when taking the time to carefully ease it away from plants I love.
Maybe that's why the monks brought it to Northern Europe. A way of humble medication, while being outside.

Pondering about who will be in my class next semester. As this semester draws to a close I have found that I have been talking to the guys in my class more, they are quite nice people, though they can speak in abstract ways, which I don't always get.

Pondering Kayleigh's whereabouts since I've gotten home. I texted her and no reply. I've called her and no reply. Must have been pretty important because she had a shower and used her makeup (she doesn't always do these things).
When I hear from her, she's busted for making me ponder.
-
Did you find her? :orly:
-
If the Renster gets lucky, the answer would probably be 'no', ceilidh or however you spell her name in its english variant sounds like a prize tit and a pain in the arse.
-
Did you find her? :orly:
Yep! She had gone to a movie with a friend and turned her phone off. I said she should set it to silent rather than turning it off because her phone takes ages to turn on after being off. Anyway, she said she should have texted me before the movie but forgot to. She apologised and I told her not to do it again. :P

Ooohh, its a shiny new magnetic stirrer/300 watt hottplate, chinese make, Although its got an aluminium plate top, so I'll have to be pretty careful with that, because things like mercury salts if they touch aluminium, destroy the very thin oxide layer that passivates aluminium and normally immediately reforms in any scratches or cuts to a piece of aluminium, and will eat right through it like battery acid through tissue paper. That and caustic alkalis (NaOH, KOH etc) those will rip a new backside out of any aluminium they contact, hissing and spitting and giving off a fine mist-like dispersal of caustic as the solution, if strong, gets so hot when it reacts that it boils the water away and sprays fine, corrosive, irritating burning 'smoke' back at the user that really isn't nice to be around, and its nasty stuff if it gets into electrical equipment too.
They threw in a spare teflon coated stirbar and a spare fuse for the plug, plus an adapter so I can use the weird-ass chinese mains plug in the UK. Weird little fucker that is, its a three-pin plug, but it has really thin, flat blade-like pins, two at the bottom like in the UK, but they face outwards in a two fingered salute-shaped pattern with the top one being flat, making a triangular profile in the hollow at the center. The country adapter interface for the plug is the weirdest though, the thing doesn't look like the parts would even fit, but they do. Top bit looks like an arse and muff in profile, or a double-headed dog dick :P
And of course the instructions are in engrish thats about as readable as a primary school starter age kid's writing. If they were learning from a dyslexic teacher who learned from sign language in another country's native tongue and conveyed it to the teacher through an interpreter speaking both languages but neither as their native tongue.

It's September. Cats are getting frisky again , despite neutering. Lorre came home with a damaged face, but still in macho mode. Hope it was a cat he challenged and not a dog. His fur was sticky and disorganised as if a big mouth had tried to bite him. Will keep an eye on him the coming days.
So, pondering on feline hormones. Teen years ago we had two neutered/spayed neighbour cats having sex just in front of our kitchen window on a daily basis.

Doesn't it make you wonder what they get up to when you can't find them. Liam got into a fight with a neighbouring cat not long ago and we haven't seen that cat since. Liam rules. Literally. The guy next door was outside at the time too and said, "Toby?" That's his cat and Liam gets along with him, so I said, "No, different cat." Toby is a sweet black, fluffy cat.

How long does it take for professionals to pave a front and back garden? Total 80 square metres max?
It's done out of company hours. And they've been at it nearly every evening till 10 and Saturday since half of August. WTF!!! I see bigger gardens done with similar stones in a day. I hate the sound of that saw cutting through another big tile.

How best to go about working up some 'phet. Whether to basify the solution (it's in glacial acetic acid) or add isopropanol, because of the massive quantities of salts that would be created upon basing, since the solvent/rxn media is pure acetic acid, adding caustic, carbonate etc. would create huge amounts of sodium acetate. Could be a nuisance, on the other hand it could be useful, since its possible to use isopropyl alcohol to 'salt out' substrates from solvents by taking advantage of osmotic pressure and in say, the case of a water solution, adding a ton of salt to drive whatever it is dissolved in solution out of the concentrated brine resulting, and into the isopropanol.
On the other hand, you can't just gas isopropanol (gassing=term for bubbling in hydrogen chloride [usually] gas and have the product precipitate out. On yet another, not sure if pulling with dichloromethane or toluene, naphtha etc. will pick up the nonpolar fraction (freebase 'phet) with this much salt (would be sodium acetate+iron salts)
