I need a 2020 political bumper sticker for my car and I've narrowed it down to 3 choices.
Which do you think is best??
-
The whole "why choose the lesser of two evils" thing has been invalidated.
Just get a trump sticker
-
I don't do political stickers...too tacky.
But Cthulhu 2020 for a window decal is pretty good.
-
I assume you also have the Lebowski 2020 t-shirt?
-
The whole "why choose the lesser of two evils" thing has been invalidated.
Only if you buy into the media spin. Trump wasn't considered evil until he tried to run for president.
Just get a trump sticker
No, I'd like to be able to drive to the "wet" side of the Cascades without getting attacked. The dry side is much more conservative than the wet side.

Oh I don't know. Trying to get five innocent black kids the death penalty
via a full page ad; birtherism; the wall crap; certain renting practices....
He was well tainted with the evil of racism . What we didn't know
was the extent of the criminal enterprise he ran.
But, part of it is true. The old drunk in the bar spouting crazy shit isn't evil -
unless someone is stupid enough to give him power.
-
This one is funny.

Consider yourself virtually plussed.

Seconded!

via a full page ad;
Media spin, he only advocated for the death penalty in the aftermath of that incident, he never mentioned anyone specific.
birtherism;
Was stupid but neither evil or racist.
the wall crap;
Something we actually need. Mexico is a fucking Narco state FFS! Their former president took a $100M bribe from El Chappo.
certain renting practices....
Most landlords are assholes, only concerned with milking their cash cow.
-
Ah. Another Trump apologist.
-
I'm certain it's been decided, bewbs are required for every poll. :zoinks:

"Bernie for President" would look great on your bumper.
-
We have a young policeman living four doors down sporting a "Feel The Bern" sticker on his back glass.
He is a decent guy and supports our Neighborhood Watch efforts, often walking with us, offering tips, training, etc. He is OK (since it is our Right), but not that comfortable with the fact that at least three of us patrol, armed. He is always sharing his training with us.

"Bernie for President" would look great on your bumper.
He already had his chance and he failed. :zoinks:

Racist bastard! My Gopher friends do not have bumpers.

You're right. It would be more practical to shave a Gopher, just leaving a few tufts spelling "Bernie"

That's funny. I thought the Dems gave Crooked Hillary the chance to run for POTUS.
Well, it has been said that people end up with the politicians they deserve. Ours are not much better than yours currently.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. The Dems obviously considered that Trump was a grave threat and that the seasoned and well credentialed (but deeply unpopular) Crooked Hillary was the best option to take him on.
Despite polling showing that Trump vs. Hillary = Trump wins, and Trump vs. Bernie = Bernie wins.
Unfortunately the way that Bernie was "bumped" left a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of Bernie's supporters. And I'm sure that was a huge factor in the outcome of that election.
We don't know what would have happened. Perhaps decades of anti-socialist propaganda would have counted against old Bernie in the end.
Running a geriatric socialist against a geriatric and corrupt billionaire at the next election? I would love that. But I can't see it happening.

Possibly.
Maybe offer some hair gel?

I only follow fake news like CNN, not the real news like FOX and YouTube. So my version of reality is probably a bit different to yours.
https://www.ccn.com/bernie-sanders-is-running-for-president-hes-the-only-one-who-can-beat-trump
There are a plethora of stories in the fake news (i.e. all news except FOX) about how Bernie is the frontrunner and the only one who can beat Trump.

I'm hopeful we wont only have the last election's losers to choose from. :zoinks:

It doesn't matter much. You'll probably just elect Trump again.
I've heard that there's no cure for the sort of thing that makes people vote for Trump.

No. There's at least one.

It's way to soon to even have a good guess. Though if it's any comfort, while his approval ratings are erratic, they've been trending upward compared to his first year. :zoinks:
-
When you have compulsory voting like we do, approval ratings matter a lot more.
With your system, you can't rely on a low approval rating for your opponent to get you over the line. You've actually got to motivate people to get out and vote for YOU.
-
The US should probably start by making things a bit easier for people to vote.

Yeah well I think people who don't want to vote shouldn't vote. :dunno:

 People who want to vote should vote.

Yeah well I think people who don't want to vote shouldn't vote. :dunno:
When you force people to vote you get a bunch of disinterested people making uninformed choices. Often they will only remember some negative soundbite they heard recently and vote based on that. That's not always a good thing.
When you don't force people to vote you get a smaller bunch of interested people making generally uninformed or poorly informed choices. That's not always a good thing.
-
Forcing people to vote would take away their freedom to not voice an opinion, to reject the candidates or the system, and for some even a violation of their religious freedom. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I prefer to assume that people who care enough to vote do care enough to be as informed as they can be. Just how informed can anyone actually be, might be a different conversation. :dunno:

Of course. That's why you elected Trump for President. Because of all the well informed choices being made.
Here you don't actually have to vote. But you do need to turn up and get your name crossed off the list. I was never a big fan of compulsory voting but then you see what can happen when you give people the option of not turning up and what can happen and you start to think... maybe it's not such a bad idea after all.
-
Trump isn't a fluke, his election wasn't based on the misinformed or uninformed, and he was elected because the public are sick of politicians. I think they still are, and that's the best thing he has going for him to be reelected. :dunno:
Here you don't actually have to vote. But you do need to turn up and get your name crossed off the list.
:lol1: That makes me wonder what's the difference. What's the stats for people who show up and refrain from voting? :orly:

May not need to.
If he makes it, all the democrats probably have to do is run someone who isn't so elderly, and also not a female unless it's Oprah.

If he does run again, will be very interested to know the turnout rate. The rate of the latest mid terms elections was the highest in 100 years.

I never want presidents to get reelected, because I can't tolerate so many years of people complaining about them. :lol1:

You're assuming the national emergency we're under won't have him suspend elections/normal government.

That's correct. Does that mean you're assuming otherwise?

No. I'm not. He has intimated about the use of force though.
I wouldn't put it past him to try. I mean, his and his children's freedom
may well depend on it.

Imagine how distracting from real politics his tweets from prison would be.

Are they allowed to tweet from prison? :-\

"My cellmate anally raped me again last night. Terrible, just terrible. I'm going to build a wall around his bunk and make him pay for it."
-
Are they allowed to tweet from prison? :-\
That was a joke, but probably no, at least not without breaking rules. It does happen. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jul/09/tweeting-jailbirds-social-media-use-by-prisoners-triples Although reports of lavish minimum security federal prisons have been exaggerated in the past, and changed where they did exist, white collar prisons are in fact a nicer stay. Violence is almost non-existent, prisoners have freedom of movement most of the day and regular access to tv, internet, libraries, exercise and music classes, and arts and crafts. That's not to say minimum security prisoners are the only ones who get technology perks. https://money.cnn.com/2015/07/23/technology/jpay-prison-tablet/index.html
