Norway allready had an impressively large cargo fleet at the time, so it kindov became a default that commercial ships in the Atlantic would be Norwegian.
Since they count as "non-combatants", lost commercial sailors tend to become neglected by history.
Wiki explains "Before the war, Norway's Merchant Navy was the fourth largest in the world and its ships were the most modern. The Germans and the Allies both recognised the great importance of Norway's merchant fleet, and following Germany's invasion of Norway in April 1940, both sides sought control of the ships. Norwegian Nazi puppet leader Vidkun Quisling ordered all Norwegian ships to sail to German, Italian or neutral ports. He was ignored. All Norwegian ships decided to serve at the disposal of the Allies. The vessels of the Norwegian Merchant Navy were placed under the control of the government-run Nortraship, with headquarters in London and New York.
Nortraship's modern ships, especially its tankers, were extremely important to the Allies. Norwegian tankers carried nearly one-third of the oil transported to Britain during the war. Records show that 694 Norwegian ships were sunk during this period, representing 47% of the total fleet. At the end of the war in 1945, the Norwegian merchant fleet was estimated at 1,378 ships. More than 3,700 Norwegian merchant seamen lost their lives."

Interesting. I had no idea the Norwegian fleet was that big back then. I knew they had a very large commercial fleet for their population (because like, fjords or something) but I didn't realize they had the 4th largest commercial fleet in the world.
You're right, these things don't tend to make it into history books. I never learned this in high school and it isn't even mentioned in most WWII documentaries.

I heard a piece of trivia the other day.
Norwegians are the largest consumers of Mexican food in Europe.
Do you have any input on this??

There was one right around the corner from John Force Racing and I ate there all the time.
It was very popular, if you wanted to eat lunch there at noon, you had to phone in your order to avoid spending half an hour waiting in line.

I heard a piece of trivia the other day.

Do you have any input on this??
Norwegian language is one that can splice words to form new words, without any grammatical reprecussion. Anyone can invent a new word-combination, and it gains validity if it gets any public traction (if not, it can still be used as an effect of humor)
Anyway - "Friday-tacos" "fredagstako" is a recently accepted word, used in advertisements for example
These are usually of the American "Tex Mex" style, and not *really* Mexican food, such as enchiladas are very rare here, you'll only find any in the actual home of an Ecuadorian immigrant or something, which is rare enough.
But Tex Mex styled fast foods are common Friday-snacks in families with children, along with the "Saturday-pizza", "lørdagspizza"

Taco day in America is Taco Tuesday. :orly:

Actually, Tex Mex is "authentic" Mexican food of northern Mexico.
What is considered "authentic" changes with the region of Mexico you're in.

Why you leave? Why so hate?

I think Zegh realized he's just an arrogant, bitter loser in life and offed himself. :kapow:
