Regarding the ongoing arguments, who here cares?
-
It's repetitive crap, most of it.
-
Spazz echolalia?
-
It's what we do, unfortunately. :P

:lol1:

Regarding the ongoing arguments, who here cares?
The people who are posting in them.
-
The other people that do not mind the arguments here are the people who log onto I2 each day with its mission statement on tge firat page specifically stating that this place is for freedom of expression and has one rule to bacj yourself and to leave if you do not have the bottle for it.
The only people that would sign on to that are people that do not mind arguments OR actively seek out arguments.
-
Arguments scare me when they involve me. :hide:
-
Do you need a "safe space"??
-
Repetitive crap...and having a bottle for it some days really helps...
...the wheel on the mouse goes round and round.
...round and round.
-
Do you need a "safe space"??
No, I make my own safe space by not getting in arguments. :M :P

Seriously though, some people's time here on this forum is longer than the average marriage, so it makes sense what comes around has gone around a few times before. :dunno:

So at first I laughed out loud, and then I realized it applies to me. I've been on here longer than the length of my marriage. So then I laughed harder. :lol1:

I've been on here for longer than my mother has been with her current partner and I've sure as shit been on her for longer than any relationship I've had. :asthing:

Though this was originally a thread pointing out that the arguments here are repetitive crap, I like the responses here, they made me giggle.
-
The topics here are also repetitive crap. :P

Ha, true!

The topics here are also repetitive crap. :P
Except for the shit-digging thread...that was different crap.

There's almost a couple dozen shit or ass related threads here.
Freud would have a field day with this place!!

Nah, but my poops are very small, so it's not really that much of a hassle. :zoinks:

Is that how you win a callout?

By pooping in it? Yes, gophers are known for that. :poop: :poop: :poop: :gopher: I win!

Nobody wants it after it has gopher sh*t on it.
Gopher wins.

I am thinking about how people would react if I mention out of the blue that I was a lot term member of an online forum whose mission statement stated it was for freedom of expression and it demanded people be prepared to back themselves and that it was adults only and only for people who had the bottle for combative environments AND one of the big topics at the moment was the merit of having arguments...
-
So?

Was getting a massage in one of the massage chairs during my tea break and reading this thread (probably be ause of the proximity to everyday people I knew well enough to ask and what I was reading) . it struck me how on the face of it, a forum describe as I did above, talking up the merits of avoiding arguments (for whatever reason) would generally be all for arguments. it would want more not less
-
When do we start banning "hate speech"?? :zoinks:
-
Having an argument is a little like having sex. You have to have two willing participants...if one views it as:
A: a non-productive waste of their time
or...
B: not something they "want" to do
...you will end up wacking off in the corner...regardless of what you "think" should happen.

Some people seem to think that "free speech" means we have to listen to their shit.
-

Is it against the TOS?
Personally, I hold different standards here than I do for local IRL laws.
Though I'll still do my damnedest to rip the shit out of anyone that goes after people I care about.

I've been here for 7 years despite being a person who avoids arguments like the plague.
A place can provide an environment that encourages debating without every member necessaily wanting
to take advantage of it. I take advantage of the smilies and the permission to use foul language, myself. :orly:

Have seen you disagree with people before. Arguments aren't necessarily heated.

True that.

That's true. I guess I'm thinking of callout-level arguments. :orly:
-
I have participated in one callout and won because the other person didn't make the effort to answer me properly.
I usually stay out of arguments because I lack the smarts to argue my side.

So we've gone from "don't post kiddie porn, don't make threats against other members and don't dox" to "We are subject to the whims of a capricious, emotionally immature, Scandinavian tyrant".
-
::)
That's quoted from the Acceptable Use Policy.
-
CBC-TEhe freedom of recourse to profanity means most when not 'given' but taken. As with personal freedom/liberty its not something true to its nature if it is handed, however compliantly by another (in the sense that in being given or upheld in any way but to take the position of 'this is how things are going to work round here and better not drop a turd on my doorstep that is too big for you to swallow'. Otherwise, its just a mealy-mouthed way of insinuating 'we say you may, by our good graces and sufferance, remain unmolested at this particular time, because you aren't doing and/or saying anything we do not consider acceptable; but we can take back our 'gift' of 'freedom' and round you all up into concentration camps if we ever decide you must not be free'
Real freedom cannot be given by another party. Assisting in wresting it from those who seek to deny it of course is perfectly viable; but if a thing may be given then it can also be taken, and hence granted freedom, is false freedom.
And Ren...damn hun! why think that of yourself? you are not in any measure somebody that deserves the label 'dumb'
Actually for what its worth; I reckon you are a smart 'lil cookie.
(and with that purr-some autie death stare too:) lovely) You are my kinda spazz Ren:autism:

Want an argument about that? ;)

That ;) was there for a reason, heh.

I know mate. Its all good

You wouldn't get very far Al. Ren is a bright wee lass, and one we are lucky to have at I2.
A good egg all around, and one with a good head on her shoulders (and all the better for spesh straight-though-you stare, that manages to make the devil's own BBQ grill look like a viable option for hosting a bose-einstein condensate, thermally speaking)
We are lucky buggers all, to have our Renster with us.

Thankfully, as a monarch, I should remain above arguments. (That's what I try to remember before I hit post.)

I am speculating that this is why the people who say I2 is dying only seem to post when there is some drama. It was not me inviting drama, it was me speculating a reason and answering your question.

Seemed an innocuous comment to me, and possibly true. Sometimes the drama stirs things up in a fun way.
