 And J. K. Rowling pays, in some small way, for the steadily increasing crappiness of her writing.

Oh, awesome, nobody posted this one yet.  It's probably the dirtiest sounding line in the entire series (and I've thus not only shared it with many people, but read it aloud in a smutty voice a couple times):

"Harry pressed his mouth again to the Snitch, kissing it, nearly swallowing it, but the cold metal did not yield..."

My friends and I have agreed that maybe this was actually somethign from erotica Rowling was writing under a pseudonym and she meant the "i" to be an "a."

Its the ideas behind it. I suppose its a similar reason to why people read the bible, crap literature, but has some nice ideas that help people go to bed at night.

I disagree. As one of the major elements of a novel is the writing.
And, I was surprised, in this day and age, that the Potter books
were as moderately well written as they were (I stopped at 3 or so).
Indeed, I haven't been able to bear most fantasy/SF that's been written
since the mid 70's

Some RPG's have way more depth then books, as an experienced player myself. You could try final fantasy or elder scrolls, see what you make of them cal.

Your so called criticism is crap, because you know nothing about what you are criticising. When you come up with a decent arguement, use it, but you dont have one. Admit you are wrong with Harry Potter, or come up with something good.
