Got Red Stripe today it's in 11.2 OZ bottles why?
-
I don't drink beer, so I haven't a clue! What size bottles do you usually see in the stores? :P
-
Shrinking products have hit beer now. Producers do this because they can hid cost increases this way. Consumers notice price increases but not smaller products, or so I've heard. ::)
Hell I even bought a "pound" of gunpowder that was in a 14 oz container!!! :grrr:
-
Well it's not anything special about the beer just thought I'd try it

Another thought occured to me, it could just be because it's an import. I've seen some of these oddball, monkey-fuck metric sizes before.
-
I read something about short sizes but it didn't hold my interest
-
I hate weird sizes. The boxes of raisins we get at my day job are 15 ounces...c'mon, just sell us a POUND! :duh:

Because African buy it and Africans are a lower species. Jamaican beer

Homo Sapiens is an African species you dumbshit!!! :jaded:
-
I hate this downsizing products. It's weasely cheating and wreaks havoc with old recipes.
-
Yes, downsizing. One of those crampon companies, think it was tampax, almost went out of business when they tried it years ago. Some things just can't be downsized.

One of my best and most trusted friends in real life is Jamaican :finger:

This just makes me want to  !

Yes. It was really dropping from a 20 count box to 18, but the concept of downsizing crampons is funny.

Think of the false hope it would give the men... :2thumbsup:

Yeah it seems they keep taking away the alcohol content. I drink on occasions and when I do it's whiskey mixed with some other drink.
My cousin was complaining about the Colt 45's.

Colt 45's is some nasty stuff even if Lando Calrissian likes it

"Works every time!" Whatever that means. ::)

I bet they named it after the pistol you will probably shoot yourself in the head with after drinking too much of it. :zoinks:

It's gotta have something to do with the shape of the bottles, they probably made the bottles to hold 11oz but later found out there was enough room for an additional 0.2oz so they added that. Either that or it's the product of a conversion from a larger unit of measurement.

Yes, that makes sense!
When I was in middle school in the late 70s, my school system created a metrics program to educate us so we would be ready for the
expected worldwide conversion! :orly:
Oh well, we tried, sort of...

11.2 Fluid ounces (US) = 331.224 mls, so that doesn't seem right.
Measurements that don't have a bunch of decimal places after it are:
11.2 Fluid ounces (US) = 1.4 Cups (US) / 0.7 Pints (US) / 0.35 Quarts (US)
So make of that what you want.

Yeah either can I, it's just that 11.2 converts to those measurements easily. I used a program called ESB Unit Conversion Utility. http://www.esbconsult.com/esbcalc/esbunitconv.htm

At first glance, I thought that link contained the word BISCUIT! Now I see it does not, but I'll check it out anyway.

Evidently 11.2 oz is a standard bottle size for the stubby shaped bottles
-
I still think it was my first idea, that they ordered 11oz bottles but later found out that they could fit an additional .2oz and added it. They may have made this addition to use up the extra space to prevent the beer from having too much "slosh-around" space, or it could even be some Jamaican law requiring them to fill the bottle all the way up.

But sloshing around is FUN! :P
-
While the beer's in the back of a truck, if there's too much room for the beer to slosh around in, it'll do that on every bump and turn, resulting in the same effect you get when you shake up any carbonated beverage too much.

I had no idea beer was carbonated. :emb:

Of course it is. Fermentation causes natural carbonation. Have you never opened a can of beer and had it burst out?

OK, you might want to sit down for this---
I've never opened a can of beer.

( )
You definitely need to try it sometime, drinking beer's good too :P Although it does give you a pot belly so I prefer to stick to spirits.

I already have a double-decker potbelly, and I hate beer (I had a sip of it in a glass one time).
This is what I look like: :snowman:

You forgot to round off. 330 ml. Is that a standard metric size? hello Europeans? or anyone else who uses the antiquated metric system?

Just seeing this for the first time in years; it's one of my bawdiest answers ever! :yikes:

Want to agree with the gripe about 14-oz. "pints" of Haagen-Dazs. >:(
