They took photos of everything didn't they. I'll give them this they sure were good at pageantry. Not many had TV's before the war so not many saw it. My cousins had one though near NYC in 1939 love to have that one now

WW2 started in 1939. France and Britain declared war on Germany.
Hitler later declared war on Russia then the US after Pearl Harbor.

It is a Beretta but I think it's just laziness on the part of the costume dept. Both of the chicks are Czech (Silvia Saint and Susana Spears) and their hats might even be East German.
I just saw the topic come up and decided to post an image, this was the first one I saw.

I just looked back and the head gear does not even match. One is pointed and the other rounded in front, aside from the differences in insignia.
I have an associate who could have supplied the photo staff with an era appropriate Luger or two. Possibly some uniform items.
Oh, he is not a Nazi, but his grandfather mailed home things he had liberated when he could. The Lugers came from gun shows and such.

I've got a Luger from a gun show but mine is a post war Mauser made "American Eagle" Luger with the American eagle insignia stamped on the upper receiver.
