I don't remember Beowulf, but he does have some similarities to Happeh. Not quite as dense, though. I suspect he's younger.

Beowulf never struck me as that much of a whaco off.   ???

Oh, sorry, I meant Illusion had some similarities to Happeh. I don't know a damn thing about Beowulf.

I don't know that much about him either.  I haven't seen him/her in an epoch!   ???  Agreed, Illusion and Happeh have a lot in common, eerily so!  ;)

There's hope for Illusion though. I couldn't see any hope for Happeh.

Happeh was a kook in every sense of the word.

I actually think Illusion's particular brand of kookery is more dangerous. Happeh was so clearly out there that there could be no doubt of what he was. Illusion, however, appears to be a reasonable enough fellow if you don't take a closer look. It is only when you study his arguments and see what they actually are (and are not) that his arguments fall apart. He lies and distorts facts, ridicules, and attempts to put to shame the memories of the millions that died. Knowingly or unknowingly, I don't know, but an uncritical person could easily be swayed.

See the difference? No-one could possibly take Happeh seriously, but Illusion appears to be rational enough.

I just don't understand him at all. The empirical proof is just so vast that I cannot comprehend how he can fail to see what actually took place.

Hm. Point. But I'm so used to seeing ignorance that Illusion's doesn't really penetrate as exceptional. He's picked a particularly offensive delusion, sure, but to me it reads the same as the idiots I met at art school who thought they were being shocking by making crappy Mortal Kombat parody films featuring Jesus and Mohammed. The lack of any kind of grace or artfulness renders it meaningless.

But do you really think people find him a reasonable person? Nobody seems particularly taken in on this site. Are we that much less gullible than the general public?

People believe what they want to believe and can rationalize just about anything if it fits their belief system.  Humanity is fucked up!

No, not after a little while. It's the first day or two that worries me, as well as a casual reader, not interested enough to actually think or look up the sources. IMO, ignorance is one of the basic building blocks of a society allowing the persecution of any minority.

Teens  getting pregnant on purpose in 'pregnancy pact.' None of them is older than 16, apparently.  Seriously, what???  It's not the teen pregnancy part that confuses me.  It's the "on purpose" part.

The movie Idiocracy was a doccumentary I tell you.    :M

You win this thread because that's most unsettling to even think about.
