"Temporary marriage"....
Fundies everywhere are the same. They can't escape biology.
The religions themselves can't either. Fundies at least read it for what it is worth. Skipping words for convenience is pretty weaksauce if you are going to call yourself a true practicioner of a religion. Picking and choosing is pretty crappy imo if you even believe in a omnipotent power. I really don't, but I enjoy taking some positives from each religion as there are more than a few.
People should change their vows (if they are going to do them) to what they intend for the marriage. Til death do us part, in sickness and in health, and the rest are way too difficult to deal with for most people these days.
That's a good point, to make the marriage vows more honest to the expectations of the two people getting married, but I think that many people who marry actually expect it to be forever, even if it does not turn out that way.
When my husband and I spoke to the minister who was going to perform our wedding, I asked him not to include "obey" in the vows that I was expected to say, because I did not want to start out our marriage with a lie, and there was no way I was going to "obey" my husband.
