What are you going to call it?

That's a good question. I have been offered suggestions and have thought about it.
I will wait until I get one first, then maybe ask for opinions.
Cats are natural narcissists.  Get two, and name them after me and Cal!  :zoinks:
hats off to the man on top of the world
come crawl up here baby, and we can watch this damn thing turn

One thing it won't be called is Calandale.
I spoke to my dad - he reckons there are always people wanting to give kittens away and said he will ask around for me.
I think I should have one within the week.

If not then there are the animal charities that let you adopt them
That's where we got flo and her sister
they had loads, but we got to take them home when they were very young because their mother had died
they have them cheap in the pet shops as well
i think it's only certain breeds that are expensive to get
local newspaper websites sometimes have them advertised from people who's cats have had kittens too

I don't want to go to a pet shop.
There is an animal charity shop just down the road. I'm going to ask there tomorrow.

A store full of cat paraphernalia...  I'd go crazy in there.  I've got a collection of metal cat miniatures and would probably see things I'd want to add to it.

It's nicer to have two real live cats inside the house than a big inflatable one on top of it. Trust me on this one. And you can't have both, because your real cats will find a way to bite your inflatable cat and then you'll have to get a rubber patch kit and it won't work right because there'll be a slow leak so it'll just look like there's a floppy kind of cat puddle on your house, which is almost as bad as having one of those chintzy inflatable Santas.

Yep!  For a long time, my bed was an air-bed with a collapsable frame.  (The logic being not to weigh myself down with heavy furniture until I'm in the type of house I want, but then the economy went other than I had hoped, but anyway...)  Needless to say, the air mattresses didn't last long, always needing patching or replacement.  I went through three air mattresses.  (Cats want to be piled around their owners when the owner is asleep.  Claws and air mattresses just don't mix.)  I finally ended up using last year's tax return to buy a real bed, so as to finally get a decent night's sleep and avoid back problems.

Now my kitties amuse themselves by destroying the mini-blinds (replaced them three times already) and the carpet.  If I don't want the replacement blinds destroyed, I have to keep applying "Fooey" spray to them.

Rats are cute. I used to be obsessed with cata like i'm obsessed with The Beatles now but I was 5 and I
soon figured out the hard truth that i saw allergic to cats
We still have our old one. Figaro. She's 17.

but RATS! There so cute! and cudly and SMART! they act like cats as well
they contantly clean themselves and will cuddle in your lap.
