George Michael did the same thing, and you don't hear people saying "George Michael how DAREEEEEEE you!" What Mark Foley did was far worse, and as I remember the consensus on his resignation was less unanimous and took much more time.
What is more interesting from the "values party" is that the congressman from Louisiana that admitted to hiring prostitutes (Craig pled guilty to a lesser charge) has not received nearly this much scrutiny or naysayers from within his own party.
