Turns out someone from my department disappeared

Funny thing is, this is the guy who more or
less replaced me on a certain project. He seemed
like a much harder worker than I'm willing to be,
and far more capable of handling the little crap
that was being demanded. I'm getting a hell of
a kick from it.

As to your question, no. My family's
from Northern Italy, where the mob
has little influence. Only two of my
uncles had any affiliation (and a couple
of cousins), AFAIK.

Could be. One look at my former advisor's code made me run away.
If anyone actually tried to face the pile of crap that he wrote, they
probably would crack. He had files that were 10,000 plus lines, with
the only comments being sections that were commented out. And
this was stuff that was written after 2000. I didn't think that anyone
got away with shit like that.
