Booked in. I feel like I am nearly in Chiang Mai
« on: August 18, 2018, 11:14:46 AM »
Bloody exceited. Work has been full-on and I am needing a break.
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

What is it like there?  How long are you there for?

Only a week. It hot, humid and relaxed. Nice people and a nice blend of familiar and unfamiliar. Modern and antiquated. Not rushed, not expensive and something you can adapt yourself too.

It's peak rainy season. Hope you got cheap flights and hotels. Thailand is always better in the low tourist season. I can't stand hordes of tourists. I'm guessing you're less tolerant of tourist hordes than I am.

Last time I was in Chiang Mai was about 8 years ago. We took a tour to the Karen village, which turned out to be a human zoo. Which was kind of creepy and not much fun.

I don't like people generally. I like the rain. It is weird. It rains hard for 5 minutes in the day. It is warm rain and then disperses. It is trippy. I did not bother with the Karen village but did go to Laos and Burma. I was indifferent and will not do it again this time but will go to White Temple.

Start pounding down the beers.

Are you going to Bangkok?  Some decent microbreweries there.

Not really a beer drinker but might even check it out

I'm thinking about it all the time.  Beer that is, not sex.  They'll fix you up with some decent stuff.  What flavours do you like?

Bourbon and coke or vodka on the rocks
