There's a film tech board I used to participate in. Those discussions have all slowly moved over to FB.

I’ve heard the same about social media. The message board is certainly dying. I think Reddit would do a better if the users had avatars. It would make me more comfortable. I can’t stand everybody being on Facebook, it makes no sense to me because it’s so privacy invasive, I can’t stand FB itself. Nobody seems to care that it means they keep your photos forever and use face recognition software, and insist you prove your identity. It’s fucked up and warped IMO, and like Big Brother.

I spend most of my internet time on FB or reading MSN and looking for books to buy.  Or a DVD from my youth.  The vast majority of my interests are available there, Volcanoes, Geology, Rocks and Minerals, Dr. Who, Robert E. Howard and other literature that I love, etc.  Humor shared, the people I consider friends here are there on FB.  At least most of them.  So forums have lost some of their appeal to me.  In fact I sometimes feel very little in common with most other forum folk.  Nothing personal, it's just me.  I've had good times in the past and those memories are treasured.  My daughter, Amber, spends most of her internet time on gaming forums, she lost all interest in AS forums.  Change is the only constant.

Someone else said it some time ago, and at the time disagreed. Though facebook was more new then and forums were still active, even though not as active. Would definitely agree with them now.
