Forget practicality, or your experience....can you just....imagine?

Obdurate.

Everyone uses variations of the meaning in synonym, but using this word is rare and I love it!
Jimi Hendrix: When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.

Ghandi: Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

The end result of life's daily pain and suffering, trials and failures, tears and laughter, readings and listenings is an accumulation of wisdom in its purest form.

Blatherskite: a person who talks at great length without making much sense.

Great word. Not that I know anyone like that

Obtuse.

I was called obtuse once when I pointed out to a coworker that it was ironic she shared her birthday with Earth day, because she never recycles. At the time (about 8 or 9 years ago), I thought it was a perfectly valid observation, made with no maliciousness. Now, I can finally see that it might have been insensitive to point out on the persons birthday, on their facebook. When I was called obtuse by her boyfriend, I looked up the word and liked the word, but felt embarassed that it was applied to me. I honestly thought she would find the shared day as ironic as well.

Ironically, I sort of cultivated an air of obtusity while I was at work, to keep meaningless conversations at a minimum. :evillaugh:

The irony became apparent when I actually DID interact with some of these people and they discovered that I was actually the smartest one there by many measures.

miasma.
That one always reminds me of someone.

Here??  :zoinks:
 No, Sand from WP. Recalling he used the word in a poem, mental miasma was the phrase. It just stuck for some reason. Think he's dead now.

Seriously??  I liked Sand!   :'(
He was awesome. It's an assumption, really. Last time looking at wp, he hadn't posted in a long while, and he was already in his 80's when I was there 10 years ago.
Found myself thinking of Sand today, which also made me think of Scrap.

Necrobump much?

Wow. This was started when Nomaken and Peter were still around.

Necrobump much?

Seemed the most appropriate place to put it. Besides, have the impression Scrap likes a good necrobump.

I dunno.  Frankly,  it looked to me like  most of Scrap's  necrobumps have been just to make it easier for himself to repeatedly necroneg absent members. Oooh! have i invented a whole new word? necroneg?  :apondering:  and does the world have much use for that word?   :apondering: thankfully, probably not  :green:

I like the birds a lot. Poetry feels jumpy at times, but most of us have toiled with press fitting a thought into rhythm, rhyme and/or meter.
I did not know he was dead. :'(

Yours create a comforting distance from the typical Scrapheap necrobump, thankfully. The depilated models, nearing apogee, he usually posts must serve him in some odd way.

I didn't know Sand, and now i'm sad that I  missed my chance to know him.

I  checked out the artwork and loved it. I'm saving the poetry for later. because if it's as good as the artwork , I can see it absorbing rather too much of my attention.

Thanks for those links, Jack  :plus: (doubly virtual ofc)

Thinking I recall him once saying he was an artist by career. The poetry came up by accident because he had an interesting way with words and I joked he must write amazing poetry, so he posted a link to a collection of his writing.
