I admit that I did not know about the systematic selling of the Irish. Sad to say it does not surprise me that it happened. The Welsh have sad stories about kids taken away. Lots of unwanted UK citizens were deported to Australia.

The history of how the Irish ended up in the USA always was about the famines and the fleeing Ireland for a better life. Thanks for getting me to google Irish slavery.

Give it time, there will be movies. Just like it took some time to get movies about slavery within Ireland, all those girls locked up in convents, slaves for the church for a big chunk of their lives, and their kids sold to childless couples on either side of the Atlantic.

Lots of the "uneasy" parts of history are surfacing. Because history is not only focussing on the great names any more. It's about the "common people" too nowadays. Also it is more showing different sides of the same events.

When I got history in class (Dutch), the VOC and the WIC were seen as great developments. Something to take pride in. Now kids learn that the VOC had the right to fight wars on behalf of their multinational profit, and the WIC was organised crime, a multinational with a licence to loot and pirate. Way more realistic.

To be honest the forcing of the state Israel is behind a lot of this and blamed on Jews when Zionist leaders are stealing Jewish identity. It isn't fair. It is forbidden in the Torah to have a newly established Israel without the Messiah but here it is insulting Torah Jews .

Seriously, Hollywood doesn't make films to entertain people, pretty much the sole reason in propaganda.  There was like 185 Holocaust based films in the space of 15 years or something.  They aren't making films about certain subjects because we're suddenly admitting and learning from past mistakes etc.

3. I am Australian and recognise I can care about the world outside of my shores. In the way many of us felt by for the people in Paris. Many do. You probably don't care unless it happens in Norway.
