The ANZACs did at Gallipolli with the Turks too
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

How to apologise to Scrap

There's a film about it called Joyex Noel. I recommend it.

While I normally hate Christmas adverts, this one is quite good:

It was when the true meaning of Christmas actually meant something.

That Jesus descended upon us so our commercial enterprises would flourish?

That's what Christmas means today. That isn't the true meaning.

What I meant by the "true meaning of Christmas" is all that "Good will towards all men" stuff. That means bugger all today, but it meant something back then. It was felt so strongly that they put a fucking war aside for one day because the soldiers felt so strongly about it. That's powerful stuff.

The Christmas that the soldiers at the Christmas Truce had and the Christmas of the 21st century are two different Christmases. They saw it as a reason enough to stop fighting, we see it as an excuse to fight for stuff we can't afford to buy it for people who don't really need it.

Fuck commercialism. It killed Christmas.

When I was little, I remember that on X-mas the news would cover Bethlehem, the talk of the pope, and the temporary truces that where there for X-mas sake.

The latter always amazed me. As a kid, I did not get why they would start fighting again after such a truce.
I can do upside down chocolate moo things!
