Militants from the Pakistani Taliban have attacked an army-run school in Peshawar, killing 141 people, 132 of them children, the military say.

Officials say the attack in the north-western city is over, with all the attackers killed. Seven militants took part in all, according to the army.

Scores of survivors are being treated in hospitals as frantic parents search for news of their children.

The attack - the Taliban's deadliest in Pakistan - has been widely condemned.

Describing the attack from his hospital bed to the BBC's Shaimaa Khalil, Shahrukh Khan, 17, said a gunman had entered his classroom and opened fire at random.

As he hid under a desk, he saw his friends being shot, one in the head and one in the chest. Two teachers were also killed.

It's stories like this that make me cry my eyes out...and realize that Christ was correct about one thing 'They will say peace, peace but there will be none' It's funny I don't wish any harm on anyone and this tore my heart out when I read it, but it's usually (and unfortunately) senseless things like this that bring communities together and cause them to fight against what is morally wrong quiet obviously it's in their collective face and it's really breaking my heart...I need to go do something fun or funny now because I can get into a depressive rut...someone tell me to lighten up cause I need it... :'(

I feel sad about this too.... I only remember fragments of my time when I was in Pakistan, yet hearing about this attack just makes me speechless right now. All I know from my readings was this was a revenge from the operations that the Pakistani Military conducted in the tribal area known as Waziristan. (which has a strong presence of Taliban there)

It's sickening to target children. I went reading on some of the politics behind it and apparently it was at least in part a revenge for the Pakistani military having killed tribal children in their operations.

It's fucking sickening to target children, on both sides.

And yet people wonder why I have no hope for the human race.

Fucking disgusting to harm, let alone kill children regardless of the side doing it or the conflict.
