Sounds like a blood draw for medical reasons.  In the medical field blood draw technicians are often times referred to as "Vampires".

A few hospitals around here had teams going out to the smaller villages, having 15 minutes a week, for drawing blood for people with thrombosis check-ups, and for people with a referral from their GP. I referred to a team like that as the vampire squad.


Apparently the hospital of my choice skipped that service a while ago, but it was still on the referral.
