Wow, that was a while ago. ER used to be a good show but they kept doing it for too long.

If anyone is interested, season 8 is when they started having the Cure Autism Now posters about the ER.
Somewhere during the first season, the doctors watch a daytime soap and Doug Ross (I think) jokes about people always getting brain tumours. They all laugh. This is a clear jibe from the writers at just about any soap in existence.
A couple of seasons later, what happens? Mark Greene's brain tumour happens. I think the producers should have remembered what they joked about and quit right there and then. Most long-running shows today will eventually arrive at that crucial brain tumour, and that's when they know it's time to stop.
