They changed the area code to 585 from 724 for were I lived...now the same number is  somewhere in New Castle, Pa.

12175 was the telephone number to my grandfather. It was actually 175 when he got it since he was the 175th person to get a telephone back in the day, but the numbering system was extended later.

  I never knew the area code of our phone number when I was a child, just the seven digits.
   Naturally, we had just one phone in the house, a rotary-dial phone attached to a wall in the kitchen.  :)

The one on our kitchen wall was bright red, with a super long cord.

We had one in just about every room of the house though, once my dad started running phone line there was no stopping him. I was the same way when we had a landline in our old house, I had two jacks in each room in case I wanted to re-arrange things.

Wouldn't answer it half of the time...and the only person I ever called was my mother.  :autism:
