Helicopters seem to be crashing in places called Norfolk
« on: January 08, 2014, 12:22:35 PM »
Is it just a bizarre coincidence?  A helicopter crashes in Norfolk, England and within 24 hrs a helicopter crashes in Norfolk, Virginia.  Both were carrying US military personnel.

 :dunno:

I don't know much about the one in USA, but the crash site here in England is sealed off and the authorities have yet to give any explanation.
blah blah blah

NAS Norfolk is one of the larger Naval Air Stations there is, probably the biggest NAS for helicopter squadrons on the East Coast so a crash there does not surprise me. Rotary winged aircraft are tough and reliable but lack the stability and glide characteristics of fixed wing aircraft so in the event of hydraulic, engine or other failure are more likely to go down and more likely to go down hard. I did FRAMP School, including the 3 week Shipboard Firefighting, with VAQ 133 @ Norfolk and NAS Oceana from late June to October 1978.

There is a Norfolk in my state :tinfoil:

They build  Blackhawk helicopters only about 5 miles from where I live and they had one make an emergency landing on the beach near my house about 10 years ago

It's because they've not yet removed the UFO wreckage.

I've listened to a fair amount of Simon and Garfunkel lately, actually, especially their Central Park reunion concert from 1982.

And not to forget, the recent case of a pig owned bird having to make an emergency landing,doing so on top of the roof of a bar, where that night the pub had a band in for live music ;

The roof couldn't support the bird, and the roof caved in, absolute miracle nobody was killed from the pub. I can't remember if either of the two coppers died, but I most sincerely hope they suffered horribly and died alone and frightened.
Beyond the pale. Way, way beyond the pale.
