Can't you guys even just imagine it?

Forget practicality, or your experience....can you just....imagine?

It's there. It always was.

I remember near my school they would arrange "evenings" for the downsies, where they would be treated to berry juice, cookies, and (horrendous) scandinavian "country" music (a whole genre ripped right off American country. usually found in awful, godforsaken, hillbilly old-people venues)

It always bothered me.
I'm not saying give them a gallon of booze, but what's wrong with a glass of beer!? They're adults! That's wrong with some decent music? Something to move to, if they want, or bang their heads to?

Is there any particular reason that I don't know of, like, alcohol kills them or something? Decent music hurts them?

I'm asking myself rethorically of course, since the answer is easy to guess: Whoever arranges this has a very one-tracked idea. They consider rock, metal, rap or techno "unsuitable" cus its "noisy" and they will use their limited stupid brains to conclude that THEIR personal favorite music (country music) is the most suitable for everyone, anywhere.
They they think "alcohol bad. cigarettes bad. hookers bad." and ban all these activities for the downsies, who deserve good things, not bad things.
The result is a grown, adult person - who's life challenge is being trapped in a child-like mentality - who's added bonus curse being that everyone around him want him to stay child-like, and preferably never lose his virginity.

Zegh, I think the choice of music depends more on the language the music is in. Makes it "understandable", or something like that. And for lots of non-downies, it is the ultimate feel good music or so too. Doesn't make the music any better though.

(Not that I understand the Dutch equivalent of that music, my neighbour plays it all the time, I'm glad it is getting colder, he now locks his doors)

Here Zegh, to cheer you up, one of the favourites of the man living behind me. You are not alone in your agony.

Eek. It is a wonder they don't leave when that plays.

Those "keep calm" shirts are catching on. Ceilidh has one that says, "keep calm and dial (Stargate symbols meaning earth)".

Drugs like alcohol and cigarettes were never made illegal under the assumption that there can be somewhat responsible usage.

Giving people with Down syndrome alcohol is maybe as advisable as giving people with OCD cocaine or Ritalin.

I have only known a few though. Not really into all that.
