Yeah, now I know that really big hail is a sign of a super cell storm, back in 1977 I didn't know that. I'm just as happy that people East of the Mississippi get over 90% of the tornadoes because I don't want to be around them. We make up for it by getting way more Earthquakes.

I've heard people say that you get used to both, but I'm not sure I could. :-\

I guess it's a devil you know kind of thing odeon. I grew up in California so any earthquake that doesn't knock down highway overpasses and shit doesn't bother me. Whereas in your case living in Finland and Sweden has probably inured you to cold that would make most Californians cry like little girls.

True, most likely. Have you experienced big ones?

There are earthquakes here in Sweden too, but they're rare. There was one in 1991 or 1992 here, but it was "just" a 4 on the Richter Scale.

No, I was living in Utah in 1989 when the Loma Prieta quake knocked down the Cypress St overpass, I suppose if I had been through a big one I would not be so nonchalant.

Shitty, we have been having some rain. Today as I got back from the store and parked in my covered spot we got nailed by 5 to 7 minutes of hail. Not big stuff, about 5 to 7 millimeter chunks. I fucking hate hail, when I was in Memphis December 1977 there was a storm that was sending big hailstones down, I picked one of the larger ones and measured it at 1 and 5/8" which is ~ 38mm.

I hope your mighty truck was not harmed!   :orly:

I didn't have a vehicle at that time. That was some impressive hail.

I mean yesterday! Did you get the truck under the cover in time?   :orly:

Yesterday's hail was too small to hurt my truck, and I was under covered parking right before it started. Do you get hail in Mass. often?

Not too often, but during the summer we'll probably get some if we have a big thunderstorm.   :hide:

Hail during summers is bizarre.
