Too warm. Why am I always working in places that are like this?

Mild temperatures overnight and this morning. And finally some rain. Not a lot yet, but we should get more on the weekend than we've had in total over the past couple of months.

Chilly outside. Summer heat is on its way for next week, though.

Hey has any one had chance to view Mars during its close pass to Earth this month? It is supposed to pass within thirty six million miles of Earth this week, more than one hundred million miles closer than average.
I have an old 1000mm reflective camera lens and long ago I adapted a salvage cinema eyepiece to it and with just that old rig (hardly any kind of telescope - donated my son's huge reflector due to his failing interest    :'(   but hey another kid has it now) I can make out a Mars that appears as a tiny disc.

They say that this is the closest Mars has been to Earth in about sixty thousand years, but it will happen again in 2038 (I will be long dead by then). Do not want to get into how that works here, but WOW! It is very cool!

Saw a claim on facebook that Mars would be the same size as the Moon one night this week. It even included a picture showing what it would look like.

Complete and utter bollocks, of course. It's going to be a bigger and brighter red dot than usual. Still cool.

Bollocks, indeed.
I know Mars has much less mass than Earth, but if it approached that closely, ever, it would have perturbed the moon's orbit completely out and away from Earth eons ago and the affect to Earth's orbit would be devastating.

Facebook is full of "Full Of Shit" people posting "Full Of Shit" crap, constantly. I have never been there, but my wife goes there every day and "catches up" with her old friends. I see a lot of what goes on there.
Well, at least I got her on a computer, finally - about five years ago when I bought her a Microsoft Surface tablet (time for an upgrade, actually) she would not even look at a screen.
Before that, the only computer exposure she would accept was using her cell phone to manage her grocery list (HUGE step, believe me!) and having me go find something she wanted to print or order for work.

At 9:41 am it is 10 C here in the CBD.

40 minutes ago as I walked from the station it felt brisk but very pleasant.

This morning as I left home just before 8 am there was still a lot of ice on my car, but it had just started to soften up enough that I could scrape it off just with my hands. I made a rather large snowball and ran back in the house and threatened to throw it at my wife, then just handed it to her and told her it was probably the last snowball of winter. Okay, it was a frostball rather than a snowball, but close enough.
